That would mean your looking for a "when or when ever xx enters the battlefield". So fertild would enter with 2 1/1 counters then his text would trigger again. There fore giving it 2 more +1+1 counters.
@@beFreetolove no because fertilid isn't a triggered ability, just when it enters the battlefield, it gets 2 +1/+1 counters. Yarok specifically reads if a permanent entering the battlefield causes a triggered ability to activate. Then it happens again. I added a few other cards like Panharmonicon, Solemn Simulacrum, Hornet Queen, The Great Henge, and Risen Reef. Thanks for the idea for a great commander deck. I went with a strat that focuses on blinking and bouncing my creatures. With Yarok on the battlefield, blizzard Strix and mirror image turns into a perpetual blink machine. I used it on crested herd caller and had a TON of 3/3 trampling tokens last night.
Small correction: Effects like Fertilid, where the creature "enters with x +1/+1 counters" aren't technically triggered abilities, so they don't work with Yarok. The counters are just kinda part of casting the creature.
No it's not. It's a permanent entering the battlefield so it will trigger and additional time. I use my yarok deck all the time and I've always used it this way. I've been searching trying to prove me wrong but i cannot find anywhere that says what you guys are.

Great start to a Yarok deck! Adding some protection to Yarok would be nice so you can always get double etbs. Kaya’s Ghostform and Darksteel Plate are both great starts. The new land Field of the Dead that landfall triggers when you have 7 or more lands with different names you get a 2/2 zombie!
I was building my own budget list, I MAY have added a few of the infinite combos to the deck now. (My playgroup is fine with infinite combos and will just team up on the strong deck)
Sonic growth chamber enters the battlefield, etb triggers twice. You target a forest and sonic growth chamber. They both bounce, then the etb trigger for coral happens. You target the creature to untap, then you tap the creature to put the forest in play. This causes the enchantment to trigger, untap creature then tap for growth chamber. Rinse repeat
Bounce the Bounce-Land and the Basic, Walking Atlas still lets you play one, which gives you 2 landfall triggers with retreat, stack the triggers, let one untap Walking Atlas, then hold priority and tap walking atlas, putting two more retreat triggers on stack, untap atlas, tap to put the bounce land back in, repeat scenario, but now you have 2 extra tap triggers on retreat. It's not a problem, it's an upside.
@@jordanyoung5279 and? I don't see the problem, ETB land triggers is what you want anyway so retreat can kill everyone right? so it doesn't matter if both bounce back.
@@puffin-onehandedgamer1164 what are you talking about? He said the combo doesnt work because it returns two lands, I said it does work because you also get to play two, so it evens out, allowing you to go infinite.
A budget card suggestion for the twinning strategy, Dance of Many. UU for an enchantment, ETB put a token copy of a nontoken creature into play under your control. It does have a few restrictions in that if either the token or enchantment leave play you lose the other and it costs UU each upkeep, but the value you get for making 2 tokens for 2 Mana is worth it.
Dude, YES. Yarok doubling this is insane. I missed this one but now I definitely have to put it on my list. Necromancy and Diabolic Servitude are other similar cards that Yarok also doubles.
Unfortunately you made some ruling mistakes : 7/12/2019 Replacement effects are unaffected by Yarok’s ability. For example, a creature that enters the battlefield with one +1/+1 counter on it won’t receive an additional +1/+1 counter. You can check the Yarok, the desecrated official MTG page for more.
I just built my yarok before watching this. I accidentally comboed with yarok infinitely thanks to archaemancer, ghostly flicker, and prosperous pirates. Made infinite treasure tokens and cast everything from my hand and then made infinite tokens with aspiring areonaut. Didn't realize he would go off in this manner. Was super excited.
I like the new format for going from one group of cards to another. It helps break up the pace and keeps attention better instead of having the same tempo for the whole video.
Probably difficult to add a reasonable upgrade that requires another upgrade, but: Yarok>Spark Double>Rite of Replication>anyETB, then sit back and watch the world burn! Also mirror gallery (I think?). This deck could be disgustingly good. Looking forward to playing more of it!
Panharmonicon, Gitrog, Muldrotha and the 5cmc artifact that flickers a creaure per turn (sry forgot its name) should be somewhere in the upgraded version imo. Chupacabra and Hostage Taker should be in any Yarok deck as well. I like the fact that u turned it into a Landfall deck and not just a Sultai Roon deck.
It's also worth mentioning that you can replace Peregrine Drake and Man-o'-War with Cloud of Faeries and Shrieking Drake to achieve the same effect for a lower starting cost.
Cloud of Faeries is very good in this deck. It's a cheaper pergerine drake that goes infinite with shrieking drake or with ghostly flicker and something like archaeomancer or eternal witness, which I also believe belong in this deck.

I really enjoyed the idea of the deck here. I took it and reasonable upgrades and added a few other cards for flair, and I am really enjoying this! I didnt really plan on going lands based, glad I did!
Favorite deck tech channel because it basically brainstorms a better deck. I made the shirei shizos care taker deck best now everyone sighs at the table when I play
An updated BTB version of this deck would be awesome. I really enjoyed the Thassa Deck, but a deck built around Yarok and Thassa/Conjurer's Closet would be insane.
I cracked him in my very first core 20 booster. Had no idea what to do with him then I got the idea to do a Sultai Energy deck. I can shut down 'walkers with deadlock trap, flicker them with spells and get double the double energy, and all three Modules to mini Great Machine my way to obnoxiousness.
Yarok is the commander Sultai needed. I like more inherently focused commanders like Feather, but Sultai doesn't have many options and the fact this opens up so many tactics is amazing! Lands deck is definitely an exciting route but I would love to see more like enchantment.
Another combo in a Yarok deck is Lotus Cobra, Fertilid, and Evolution Sage. This works especially well if you have a decent planeswalker or other landfall ability in play
I feel like panharmonicon has a place in this deck. It doesnt double land fall triggers but there are seemingly a lot of creature based triggers that could benefit from it (of corse i mean in the upgraded version it does have a budget prohibitive price tag)
I didn’t expect landfall but this looks like a fun one! Might have to build it after I finish getting my upgrades for the locust god deck I built after yours
Embodiment of Insight (and maybe Halimar Tidecaller) could also be incredible includes in this deck. All of your lands becoming 3/3 vigilance creatures with flying, then playing End-Raze Forerunners will insta-win a ton of games
I'm looking for building this deck, but I was actually intending to go a completely different way. In addition to just running a panharmonicon, I was intending to include the 8 (5 green, 2 blue, 1 black) 'make a scion/spawn' eldrazi. On top of that, running a Sire of Stagnation to seize the game's speed. Equilibrum was also a must include for this deck, something I definetly missed here. For removal, I was looking at Noxious Gearhulk, Hostage Taker, and Ravenous Chupacabra. Other cards I would've loved to include were Lotus Cobra, Ob Nixilis the Fallen, Kiora Behemoth Reckoner, Guardian Project, Elemental Bond, Frilled Mystic, Void Grafter, Mystic Snake, Vivien Champion of the Wilds, and Dragonlord Silumgar.
Probably not the first to realize this but I'll put this here. With Yarok/ Panharmonicon out, you can run Flash Hulk combo with the following cards Flash Protean Hulk Shrieking Drake Cloud of Faeries Grim Guardian Shrieking Drake + Cloud of Faeries gives infinite mana, which u can reuse Shrieking Drake to get Grim Guardian ETB infinite times.
I love watching your show to find effectovr cheap cards for my decks but I usually disregard a chunk of the decklist because they're chaff. This deck however remains impressive even if it's cheap! Well done I love it.
Love this commander, kinda sad it was a land build, i was looking for more of a phanharmonicon deck, but it was realy cool anyway and still did brew a lot of ideas, thanks for the awesome video
I really love this build! I’ve seen a lot of really cool Yarok decks, but many of them run 200$ + which is too much for me, or many people too. I would love to see a break the bank episode of yarok because he has a lot of potential with just a bit more money. Anyways, always love your builds and I play them all the time!
I also really like ob nixilis the fallen in this deck, with how much ramp you have, any of that landfall triggers doubling up is 😍 6 damage 6 counters... And avenger of zendikar.. Yeah.. I like land strategies lol
I think panharmonicon would be a good include. Mainly it helps with redundancy and if you can’t get your commander out (if it’s killed too many times or stolen)
I don't believe that Yarok will double the counters on fertilid since the It isn't an etb trigger, the same way that it wouldn't put two lore counters on a saga.
Yarok was the last thing i needed from m20, watched the game knights ep and honestly he's easily my favorite commander from m20, so fun to watch in a pod
I love Yarok so much and I can't really afford making most commander decks. But I'm gonna make this one because it's cheap and has my favourite legendary I have ever seen. :)
I fumbled my way through a victory the other night which I feel was because I either missed where it was addressed or it wasn’t said by Mitch. This is relevant because I played in an EDH event where mass land destruction wasn’t allowed, and if I’m not mistaken “rule” was that if you were gonna go infinite then you better win. The question is: say you don’t have a walking atlas type card in play without summon sickness, how do you win? Unless the answer is to do enough board destruction to de-moralize them into scooping(which I think would’ve been a rules infraction at my LGS on multiple levels), all I could think of is that I had to have a etb card draw into play, get the clones into play as copies of end raze forerunners and then bounce it with man o war into infinite P/T, and luckily they’ll have haste and can swing, but what if I didn’t have the draw? I’m wondering if there isn’t an etb that drains in black that could be added?
Yes its not bad, but I do not understand why people are sleeping on the real champ :) Sylvan Primordial. Destroy 6 non-creature permanents, get 6 forests tapped and 12 landfall triggers? And its even in the budget at around 30-40 cents @The Commander's Quarters
@9:05 slightly more expensive? Those 2 cost a combined total of 15¢ lol But on a serious note, you come up with some amazing decks and I love the commentary bud! Keep up the good work!
My roommate and I went to our local card shop and I had a booster itch. I got 18 2020packs. He asked if he could help and I said sure. Apparently he was wanting a yarok and the first pack he opened for me had a yarok
Started playing Magic a couple months ago and Yarok was my first mythic that I pulled from my very first pack so naturally I imprinted on him. Just built this deck to play commander for the first time and it’s sooooo much fun to use. A+ video P.S. can someone explain the Perigrine Drake/Man O’ War infinite mana loop for me a bit more? How does the floating mana get created? I thought you’d only be able untap twice as many lands?
no Avenger of Zendikar in the upgrades? with Yarok and all the lands, you get an army of plants if you play it after you've fished all the lands out of your deck. they are just 0/1 but I'm sure there is some cheap way to pump them up. like "Caged Sun". It doubles our mana and gives all creatures +1/+1 making our army of plants 1/2's and you can swarm someone with them.
ELD has come out, i saw this build and i need to emphasize that 1 card you must take into the deck : Yorvo, Lord of Garenbrig. it's cheap AF and once he is in the battlefield and your infinite mana engine is setup you can just win the entire game by boosting him with acidic slime ETB. Destroy everything your opponent have and just take your time with Yorvo to oneshot your enemy one by one
I was just looking through cards after pulling this commander last night and then the notification for this video pops up? Let's go! It's gonna be a good day (and a bad next week for my FNM, MWUHAHAHAHA!) Lol
I am going to make an energy deck with this. Been waiting for a commander that has enough value and I think this just might be it! No it's not the most optimal build but it will be fun!
Has anyone else thought about including cards like Archaeomancer, Possessed Skaab etc.? In my testing of this deck I found them extremely good since with any of them + Displace-like instant you can essentially build a extra Deadeye Navigators. Not to mention that they can also return other utility cards.
Don't the bouncelands kind of suck because if you have Yarok you have to bounce 2 lands when they enter? Sure they also work with retreat to coralhelm but having your commander out early seems very good for this deck so they can get in the way quite a bit right?
Great Video, since I have a lot of cards to complement this from Draft etc (Thassa for example) I will definetely build this. What I dont understand is how you will win if you draw your entire deck with llanovar visionary? I will add thassas oracle definetely. Also why remove reatreat to Hagra that you mentioned as a win condition?

Shrieking Drake + Cloud of Faeries gives infinite mana, which u can reuse Shrieking Drake to get Grim Guardian ETB infinite times.
I love watching your show to find effectovr cheap cards for my decks but I usually disregard a chunk of the decklist because they're chaff. This deck however remains impressive even if it's cheap! Well done I love it.
Mitch you beautiful genius! I ACTUALLY pulled this bad boy at prerelease
Thanks for more awesome budget deck building goodness. Your channel rocks.
Love this commander, kinda sad it was a land build, i was looking for more of a phanharmonicon deck, but it was realy cool anyway and still did brew a lot of ideas, thanks for the awesome video
I just built this deck. I haven't tried it out, but it seems like a powerful commander
I got absolutely pulverized by a Yarok/Dread Presence interaction on MTGA the other night. I’m so proud of that guy!! I wanna do it for real now *_*
I think panharmonicon would be a good include. Mainly it helps with redundancy and if you can’t get your commander out (if it’s killed too many times or stolen)
I am so happy I got this as my pre-release promo. I am looking forward to building a modified version of this deck.
I don't believe that Yarok will double the counters on fertilid since the It isn't an etb trigger, the same way that it wouldn't put two lore counters on a saga.
True. Even excluding the wording if it was actually a trigger it would die instantly being only a 0/0 before the trigger resolves.
@Gavin Kelsey As isn't a triggered ability. It must say When, whenever or at. If you want to check it's ruling 603.1
Yarok was the last thing i needed from m20, watched the game knights ep and honestly he's easily my favorite commander from m20, so fun to watch in a pod
Indeed!
I just got a foil Yarok in a draft pack, feels good man
I love Yarok so much and I can't really afford making most commander decks.
You could also add a amulet of vigor with all those land searching cards, i use it in my tatyova deck, its my golden pig
A card that I Will put into my Yarok deck is Dilluvian Primordial. With two triggers I can cast up to six spells!
Yes its not bad, but I do not understand why people are sleeping on the real champ :) Sylvan Primordial. Destroy 6 non-creature permanents, get 6 forests tapped and 12 landfall triggers? And its even in the budget at around 30-40 cents @The Commander's Quarters
Malte Lewandowski probably because it’s banned?
Great video ! But i'm not agree with the replacements, retreat to Hagra is a very good card in this deck. One of the best.
As always nice deck tech Mitch. I like the new screen transitions too
@9:05 slightly more expensive? Those 2 cost a combined total of 15¢ lol
But on a serious note, you come up with some amazing decks and I love the commentary bud! Keep up the good work!
Golos next?
Maybe!
@@TheCommandersQuarters Honestly, I hate that card.
The Commander's Quarters he’s my favorite commander from m20 I’m working on a budget variation of him and am hoping to see your take on it :)
@@nebula8851 why?
My roommate and I went to our local card shop and I had a booster itch. I got 18 2020packs. He asked if he could help and I said sure. Apparently he was wanting a yarok and the first pack he opened for me had a yarok
I think in a less budget build snow basic lands might be worth playing so you can run Ice-Fang Coatl and Marit Lage’s Slumber
I pulled Yarok as my foil in a prerelease, so been looking forward to this deck tech.
Definitely picking this up when I get the chance. I just built your gishath deck not to long ago and loved it.
Archaeomancer can get you back two instants or sorceries from the yard... and you can blink him. Seems tasty.
Started playing Magic a couple months ago and Yarok was my first mythic that I pulled from my very first pack so naturally I imprinted on him. Just built this deck to play commander for the first time and it’s sooooo much fun to use. A+ video
P.S. can someone explain the Perigrine Drake/Man O’ War infinite mana loop for me a bit more? How does the floating mana get created? I thought you’d only be able untap twice as many lands?
no Avenger of Zendikar in the upgrades? with Yarok and all the lands, you get an army of plants if you play it after you've fished all the lands out of your deck. they are just 0/1 but I'm sure there is some cheap way to pump them up. like "Caged Sun". It doubles our mana and gives all creatures +1/+1 making our army of plants 1/2's and you can swarm someone with them.
Check out Dual Nature...its a symmetrical card but with yarok out shenanigans will ensue
Damn, this will make some powerful ass combos
Do a break the bank on this one! Love the value engine here.
I've found Yarok to be a bit more fun moving away from the landfall meta strategy and branching into the black and blue etb's
I am going to make an energy deck with this. Been waiting for a commander that has enough value and I think this just might be it! No it's not the most optimal build but it will be fun!
I am building a Kaalia deck with her card from M20.
Really dig the vids. Keep up the good work.
Has anyone else thought about including cards like Archaeomancer, Possessed Skaab etc.? In my testing of this deck I found them extremely good since with any of them + Displace-like instant you can essentially build a extra Deadeye Navigators. Not to mention that they can also return other utility cards.
do you mean archaeomancer? athermancer doesnt come up under any searches
@@Metroidhunter13 Yes sorry :D I also have Eternal Witness and Greenwarden since I am on a higher budget.
Don't the bouncelands kind of suck because if you have Yarok you have to bounce 2 lands when they enter? Sure they also work with retreat to coralhelm but having your commander out early seems very good for this deck so they can get in the way quite a bit right?
Yeah, I was thinking this too
My favorite combo in my deck is demonic tutor for rune scarred demon, and then get avenger of zendicar and cradorhoof
Sweeeet... Can't wait to try this one. Hope Omnath is on the list of upcoming deck techs.
Been waiting for this since I pulled Yarok from a pack.
About to buy what cards I'm still needing. Trying to come up with something unique, rough though.
Love your deck techs! Keep up the good work!
explorer's scope is a great undervalued card for things like this
