While I respect anyone who actively prepares for the worst case scenario, I feel the motives for two of these individuals are heavily influenced by emotions (fear) rather than rational and logical analysis. While fear oftentimes serves as a great motivator, making any decisions in fear or in any emotional state is not the best course of action. In my opinion, if an individual is to prep for a "Doomsday" event, they need to determine/identify the following criteria before doing the actual prep: 1.) What event they are preparing to occur? 2.) How likely will the event occur? 3.) Will that event occur during your lifetime? 4.) What's the duration of the event should it occur? In my analysis, two of these preppers did not consider points 2 and/or 3. While the skills he possesses and teaches are extremely invaluable, the time and effort taken to learn the skillsets are more likely to be used for personal/individual survival rather than as a response to a world ending event. Can overpopulation occur? Yes, it is a possibility. However, it is an event that occurs overtime, not overnight, and the odds of him or his children of actually employing those skills during their lifetimes for an unlikely event is very low. An analogy of this point is an individual who is so afraid of drowning while vacationing in a cruise ship that he/she keeps her life preserver and scuba gear on during her entire cruise. In the case of Becky, she has the overwhelming fear of martial law or a government takeover. Like in the case of Michael, Becky's fear motivated her to stock up on food, water, and to take gun lessons. When everything else is going wrong, why have a fight with the elements (extreme cold, heat, lack of natural resources like food & water) on your plate? This guy up in Maine and the other guy in Colorado (shelter builder from different episode) seem like they have some real challenges ahead if ever they had to bug out. If I ever get serious about prepping, N. California is where I'd look for a place. There is abundant open land, mild weather and plenty of good resources (clean water, good arable land, fish and game to eat, etc.) available. Another vote for my choice of N. California is that I have plenty of relatives there. Of course, if ever the time comes, family will be an extremely important resource.
Sometimes they're too settled in to pack it all up and migrate to a more hospitable area. California may have ideal weather but do does Nevada, Texas, Georgia, and Arizona. The 'rules' are a lot less harsh, too. In California the people in charge like to pretend human rights don't exist and everyday people who want to get ahead in life need permits for this, permits for that, and excessive wait times on those just to be told 'no'.

Hopefully you'd diligently study the Cascade fault line beforehand!
Isn't California on fire every year. Riding out 3 months of snow fall seems like better option
teaching your kids the basics is the key to life
Giving your children extreme paranoia and intense stress at a young age is NOT the key to life, it's the exact opposite.
Television Preppers are a funny bunch, real prepping isn’t about paranoia but being calm knowing one is capable and has the proper equipment
NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CONGRATULATIONS FOR 20 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS 💛💛💛

Really? Dont you think He will go broke 😂?
Michael is perfect for this show. "They" put this stuff on the air to "teach" people how to survive. I hope that Michael and his family make it but because of his hippie mindset its doubtful. Humans are predators who's favorite prey is other humans.
That's what they like to show on this show, it's making fun of anyone with a prepping mindset, that's why they call them "doomsday" preppers,to say "laugh at what he does to fight a threat that is improbable.if he had his stuff in order, they would call him dangerous and a threat to society instead of "funny guy who lives in the woods "
My best friends are plants and animals. Even we betray each other sometimes, the nettle stings and the dog bites. I chop the plant down and I tell the dog he's out of my will. Circle of life!

RICE is a starter just like oatmeal or cream of wheat , I have over 20 recipes for rice. With honey , with beans , with chili , with beef broth etc - - - I have folks say "I hate rice" Then I hand them a bowl of rice mixed with chili , half of each mixed together. Suddenly they love rice. 🤣
When they are starving they are really going to love it!

I think this was in like 09-10 or so
I do respect the worries and wisdom behind the prepper movement, but tbh, in case of such extreme catastrophic circumstances, I'd rather prefer to die than to live like that. No drama. Cheers 🙂
I feel the same. I refuse to live in fear. Accept your fate when the time comes.
Exactly! Why do we hold on to this life so fiercely. It is not our true nature! This life is but a bad dream, I wait desperately for my waking hour.

Learning to live off the land is important
The "first threat" isn't a solar flare... It's other humans.
I’ve been telling quite a few people that as well that something bigs going down within five to ten years every prediction I made in the past has come true and the times are literally getting worse every single year either nature and or humans
I've been saying for a couple decades. I'm just now getting people asking me for more information and guidance about prepping. Better late than never I guess but, I choose very carefully who I choose to support these days.
Solar Flare carrington event in 2025 could happen... we missed a Solar Flare event in 2012 by 9 days but the big 300 year one is overdue and yea could happen in 2025, not to mention of course many other things between now and 2030... nukes, ww3, famine, water famine, etc, etc...

Nope, I'm not crying at all when he gives Ryan the umbilical cord.
A life lived under the grip of fear is not a life at all, and the thing is that absolutely and I emphasize the absolute nobody will ever escape death and once that knowing becomes and intrinsic part of your consciousness you actually can enjoy the present and life!
Is this that kind of fear? Ants prepare for winter. Nations prepare for disasters. Disaster preparedness has certainly been recorded in the Bible.
It's part of maturity to accept that things happen. Children live solely for the day. Adults can live for the day while setting aside for tomorrow.

If you can dodge a throwing stick you can dodge a buckshot, supposedly.
this was such a good show
17:15 On one hand - there's too many people. On the other hand, populations can deplete rapidly from unforeseen circumstances. Since 1959, the world population has doubled. We also need to CONSERVE WATER.

It takes a lot of skill and practice.
it also took 6 shots t "walk" it in
Noah was the bibles preppers everyone laughed at him too and thought he was nuts... 😆
And everyone forgets Joseph...had he not interpreted the dream and been placed into a position of authority to prepare for 7 years of feasting/good harvests followed by 7 years of bad, many many people would have died for lack. His own Hebrew family begged him for help. After his brothers betrayed him!
Well, is a fictional story so...
@@mariacolon9756 yes it is but people have been prepping for a long time in general. Look at Santa clause he preps all year just for 1 day.

The Arc of history and civilization itself is very long and while real upheaval happens it is rare and short in duration, on the one hand it's best to prepare against a natural disaster while on the other hand it probably won't happen in his life that he won't have a sink to drink out of...

They're still wackos, the pandemic didn't change anything but your perspective
@@tylerofearth2296 they are still very much wackos, but they are right to an extent
@@tylerofearth2296
That wasn't a pandemic. Initially COVID-19 killed 1% of those that got it and that was among the old and sick.
A real pandemic would affect the young able bodied people, like the Spanish Flu a century ago. Or consider the if even something treatable like the bubonic plague broke out. Even with treatment 10% still die.
We are still heavily dependent on China for most medical supplies. The Biden admin is ignoring the supply chain issues, inflation, etc.
