I am in northern sweden which is very different to the Stockholm area. A lot of people are quite self sufficiant up here. Hunting, fishing, harvesting berries, making enough firewood for the 6-7 month winter etc happens in almost every household. Here in the north you always have power outages, extreme weather etc so it always makes sense to be ready for everything. What people elsewhere call "prepping" is just normal everyday life in northern sweden.
@@jamesbond4810 No Im also from southern sweden and from a town with 10k people. I dont know anyone who is prepping but everyone has resourses to survive for a while.
I mean yes but theres also people in northern sweden who live in apartments and dont prep at all 😅 This really applies to most people who have a house a bit outside of cities in Sweden not just the north 🤷♀️
I live in Sweden and I been prepping for about 25 years. I think this documentary focus way to much on war. Cant speak for anyone else but i believe the most likeley scenario and therefor most important to prepar for is things like long lasting blackouts, floads, forest fires etc.
Imagine if for 25 years you actually learned a skill or did something useful for society instead of watching zombie movies and making forts in your moms backyard.
Even without war, it’s always good to be prepared, so in case of an emergency you can be in a position to help and not the one that needs to be helped.
The government information says the same. There are parts of Sweden where risk of flooding has increased, and at worst a hydroelectric dam could fail. There has been large forest fires the last decades, which has forced the evacuation of a town.
Last winter the county water lines burst in my rural area of the US. A few years ago there was an ice storm in the winter, and thousands of people were without electricity and phone for a week, or longer. I had everything I needed. The worse part for me was the few days spent clearing the downed tree limbs and repairing my tool shed. I was warm every day and bathed in hot water every day. It pays to be prepared.
As a Swede - my prepping has nothing to do with fear of Russian aggression. It has to do with fear of incompetent politicians on national and EU level - as shown now - that fear has been well founded.
@@aj897 There is no threat. Stop watching so much TV. They tell us that Russia is a gas station with nukes but simultaneously a threat that can steamroll over all of Europe. Give me a break. Russia hasn't been a threat since 1989.
As a russian citizen i would say, we all afraid of politucians, and simple people have nothing against any other nations. But if a nuclear war will start because of politucans, that will destroy all human civilization. There will be no nations or life at the surface of the planet.
It never ceases to amaze me how civil and mature the people of northern Europe can be and approach issues without egos getting in the way when community is the subject and as they treat all issues extremely sensibly with direct approach.

I believe that the Swedish parents have gifted their children the greatest of tools, the impulse to not panic, and to not dread. For example, they never taught her to do it specifically, but their young daughter guided her friends to use the solution of spelling out the helpful words when a group of friends became lost, solely because of her frame of mind. She didn’t panic nor dread, so her mind was free to come up with a solution. What a wonderful gift, right? The gift of a tranquil mind. What great parents she has. After all, as they say, life is 10% what happens to you, and 90% how you react to it!
Yes, this is true. But we are also thought that when the shit hits the fan - dont give up. The book he shows in the beginning from the government there is one bit of text that makes me proud of Sweden. Rougly translated "If Sweden is attacked by another country, we will never give up. All information to the effect that resistance is to cease is false."
Thank you to all the participants in this video. I have learned a great deal about Sweden and how they are determined to be prepared for crisis situations. I think we should do the same in the UK.
Totally admire the Swedish mindset and their sense of readiness. You can tell they're trying their best to prepare for the worst yet never forget to maintain their sense of normalcy and rationality.
the worst case for the population isn't to live under constant threat/fear of an attack but *"to live under a full dictatorship regime where they dictate the children's education, prep them to fight to expand the lands, how many children to have, where you can live/move around"*
This program was way to positiv about Swedish prepping then realy Swedish people are. Sorry about my bad English writing. I dont know anyone but one that has prepp for anything more than at most 1 week. Everyone I have speek to in Sweden about it think it's creasy and dont want to do anything. Only one of my relativs have allmost everythings they need for one week. And coffe for more than one month. I think they can servay anyway for more time becorse they living nere the forest and have frends.
Exactly. For the older generation in Sweden (as I am), this is a normal way of living, but today's "Influencers" and "Selfie generation" it's not normal to do. So, I'm glad that the subject is on the "To do list" again. 🙂
"consumers" will die out. wars could even be a more honest/quick way to go out. while slowly dying of off diabetes and impotency could drag rhe missery for decades
Yes. That's usually the case in underdeveloped parts of the world. The least civilized will be the best prepared. The Swedish government is smart to encourage this to its very civil citizens.
@Adina Medrea our definition of civilized is clearly different. Culture aside, the western world shares certain values that Eastern Europeans, inherently, don't share or are incompatible with us. I am also being even more crude and tribal in my definition of civilized. If you're not a high income country than you're uncivilized. But then again lots of the sand nations have high gdp but are clearly uncivilized. No shiny glass or money can buy class.
I built a 5000 sq ft home incase my kids ever needed a place. The pandemic proved that to be the right thing to do. My 23 and 29 year old sons live at home and have been prepping for the worst. Summer of 2020, they dozed the land and have planted 50 early, mid and late blueberry bushes on top of the 20 I already had. They've planted multi verities of fruit trees on top of the almost 20 I had. They are growing gardens along the acreage borders. They built a ram pump and pump water 200 ft altitude into three 2,800 gal tanks that gravity flow to the house and gardens. It's now a jungle of food around here, so I asked them why so much food and they said to help others in need. They are drying most everything for storage and have collected jars of seeds to share. They also invested heavily in the market just in case it turns to treasure when they reach my age. They also pay the bills and stock our over kill pantry with years of foods. I must say, I'm 66 and pretty proud of my boys.
I built a 3500 Sq Ft home 10 feet under ground. Climate controlled, no heating or air conditioning needed AND no property taxes since they can't see it to tax it🤣😂😅😆
@@johnslugger That's awesome! Mine too is half underground and I know what you mean about staying cool in the heat. Last summer we had 115 record temp's and the up stairs stayed 90 degrees with the AC on but the basement stayed 70 degrees without AC. Sadly they are taxing the crap out of me so stay underground.
Good job Sweden for being smart and well organized! I am impressed by the parking structure bunkers and the government pamphlets encouraging people to prep. I also learned in the comments from someone speaking Swedish, why my grandparents always said "folks" instead of "people." 👍
They seem to forget about Peter the Great and think together with NATO they will be able to invade and defeat Russia. don't understand why Russia should invade Sweden? Provide even more money to asylum seekers and refugees? Propaganda is well working there. Those guys are really afraid of the refugees from middle East and Africa and they are eager to wage war on Russia like Karl 12 or 13 😅😅😅😅😅
I can remember when I was young. My mother always had extra in the cupboard. It was for" Just in case" I love how families are getting together and learning new skills.
Loved this documentary it’s always a good idea to learn & be prepared for unseen emergencies. Also love that parents are teaching their kids how to survive.
I like the solidarity within communities. In desperate situations, humans have a much better chance of survival within a group. That way people can share supplies, talents and training.
The European government is forcing its people to relocate. It may only be mentally but I fear there will be comparable harm when it’s all done. Most of these people preparing for cold winters with little to no electricity because of virtue signaling against Russia, have no idea the US is currently behind far more death and destruction. Just look at Afghanistan who are being starved to d__th as the US will not release their gold reserves and places them under sanctions. It makes these catastrophic sacrifices even more insane.
Hopefully none of this will be necessary, but I really admire that Sweden has so many bunkers available to its residents and that these people are working cooperatively and not succumbing to conspiracy theories or hoarding food etc that they will not realistically be able to use. It seems like a healthier outlook than the everyone for themselves attitude that a lot of Americans seem to have.
The comments are so typical. You're doing it better than the US. No you're not. Our communities have more grains and food stored for everyone than you could ever imagine. Survival and hunting are intrinsic to our culture. Most of you can't even shoot a gun let alone hunt and quarter a deer. The intermountain states aren't New York and California . We've been doing this kind of stuff our entire lives. Millions of us. You have no clue per usual.
Weeeell… Most of our bunkers have another use now, as commercial facilities like gyms. Most people here don’t have access to bunkers in an emergency. Switzerland, that’s an prime example of how you shelter citizens.

Every country should tell their citizens to make/have disaster preparations on hand and send a similar pamphlet out. As a USA citizen I really admire Sweden for this. As a Floridian, I get hurricane prepper information but it should be more inclusive for other scenarios. A grid-down scenario is a very real thereat in today's world.

So in an emergency what's important and the documentary teaches is to be cool headed and cooperate. 3 years ago my city was hit by a big earthquake and most buildings destroyed, people lost lives and properties, but the government and the rest of the country gathered all the help they could and assited us, even now as the city is being rebuilt. As a country that experienced a civil war you should better learn history and avoid stupid mistakes, or follow separatist opportunists like Trump.

Couldn’t you apply that to historical Germany under a particularly enthusiastic speaker? The only good watching a military dictatorship spreading so rapidly is the increased probability that it fails. NATO, the alliance against a non existent Soviet Union, is the true plague risking humanity. After that, it’s the global banking system that props up the military industrial complex.

My family did this in the 1950s and 60s. My dad wanted us to be able to cope, if we survived the third world war that he was sure would happen. He assumed we would have to live primitive. @Irving Shekelstein Swedish men love taking care of other mens children, if in doubt what's acceptable/suitable behaviour they ask the women what's kosher.
In Sweden we have a very special law called "allemansrätten" which translate to something like "all man's right" it means that anyone can walk in all woods an pick berries or camp for some nights, without owning the wood. There's some thing you're prohibited to do as well of course. In school we're taught about this and we have a long tradition of being out in nature, because we're _encouraged_ to from early years. Therefore we get experience and knowledge about trees, flowers, what to eat, how to behave and what to do if you get lost etc. It was a good help when me and a friend got lost in a mountain area when I was about 20 years old.
Hopefully these skills will not be needed, but it is good for people to have some skills to cope with various contingencies that may happen. Good for these people!

Here's a rule to follow: Never trust the Russians, Norway is especially vulnerable because you guys share a small land border with Russia, not to mention many of the maritime routes between your two nations are closely overlapped.

The Swedish mindset is good. Here in the UK, we prepper's are treated as crazy or political right wing nutters. Yet, all we do is learn/have skills to protect ourselves and families should the worst happen, whether that be natural disaster, civil unrest, economic meltdown, etc and we are treated with contempt in the press, etc.
I don’t understand why you’re seen this way? Certain parts of the uk prepping is quite handy. Here on the west coast of Ireland, we prep every year as the winters are long
@@jotttn My in-laws think I am nuts that I prep and that I am some sort of right wing naz.si. for some reason because I don't follow the narrative in the press and can think for myself. The US and other western countries could learn so much from this. Instead of giving in to fear mongering, social polarity and a general mistrust of their government (and rightfully so in many cases) people should embrace each other and unite as one. Even better when the govt actively encourages this healthy mindset of community spirit.
Unfortunately, the ones in charge of the governments of America and many other western countries’ don’t have health minds themselves, they are not just fighting against each other all the time…….but also insert wars elsewhere in the world……
I assume you are not Swedish since we actually do learn this in school. At the younger ages we learn to recognise plants to eat, what to do when you are lost and basics about the forest. As you get older you will learn more advanced stuff, such as lighting fires, building shelters, etc. It's a part of our P.E. course.

A Finn here... I also have 'kotivara', weeks worth of food stored in the bomb shelter below my feet. That is the recommendation, and the idea is to buy food you would anyway buy and before they go off, you use it in your every day life and buy new one the next time you go to the shops. Its also great when you suddenly run out of sugar in the morning.. definitely a good habit, to have a small food storage as a buffer.
Here in California I do that with basics like bars of soap or toothpaste. Buying just extra every other trip to the local grocery store so that I have some backup supply at home. At the very least, it helps save on gas, less trips into town needed for supplies.
I live in the US and have been keeping a "deep pantry" for more than a decade. It would be fascinating to know why some cultures are more inclined to prepare for potential hardship while other cultures have a more live in the moment approach. It can result in a massive misallocation of resources and waste. I am sure a I remember an old parable about this. One animal spend the summer storing food while the other laughed and simply enjoyed the sunshine. Only one survived winter.
My guess would be that all countries have a different history, and that makes us approaching things in different ways. Culture and climate may have an impact too. Only a guess though.
Was the goal to survive and to subsist for a long time, or to enjoy your short life. Quality of life also matters. It depends what one finds more valuable.
I think it's important to take into account the geographical location and political/economical history of these areas. Europe has seen wars in the past and have seen tensions that could lead to wars. Sweden's neutrality stance means they don't want to have to take sides and they would rather avoid being apart of a conflict. But believing someone won't cross your borders with ill intentions is a bad lesson to learn (as a native american, we hear lots of stories growing up from our elders about people not from here that came to take from us and how they did it by being dishonest or by genocide.)
As a Swede I would say climate has a huge role and also culture. If you stay in a place where there is sunshine and swimming weather all year round ofcourse it will be harder to except hardships. In sweden even in suburban cities you have to do some level of preping just to survive going to school and back. Even an 8 year old Child knows how to dress and behave in the cold. The people in this video live in really central cities, most swedes dont even need to learn any of this skills at all but instead grew up doing it most of our lives :)
The prepper scenes in countries like the USA, Canada, Germany, Austria, Poland, Norway and Finland are also very big. By far not only people in Sweden are doing that. And it's a good thing for everyone of us / you: Be ready for the worst kind of situation, to at least have evertyhing at home for 2 weeks without electricity and food / water plus things for hunting / fishing, defence and sleeping / surviving outside and on the move.
Thankful for people like Martin who have been out there testing the off-grid/survival supplies and techniques. The preppers have been ready and are so willing to teach all of us
In WWII victory gardens were encouraged. Supplies were rationed. People have gotten out of touch with reality. Many people don't think about where their necessities come from or how they get them.
Not in Sweden, many people grow there own food. I live in the city and i have a garden with chickens and a greenhouse. I picked 400 kg (.881 pounds) of tomatos last summer.
the more nature a place has, the more prepared people will be. The helpless and clueless marketing assistants grow in a city. The guys who eat well in a crisis live in hunting lodges, or on farms. such is it in the first world.
That can change if a disaster lasts longer than expected. Stress and anxiety causes panic in some. It's easy to keep your cool when it's just practice and you have food and tools, but life doesn't usually go as planned.
@@AndromedaKai Only if they prepared ahead of time and stocked up on life's needs. During a real crisis, paper currency will be worthless unless its made edible. LOL
The most sensible arguments for prepping I have ever heard/seen, my grandfather taught me the same, every human should know how to survive in nature, our true home: build a fire, orient yourself, know how to fish/hunt, first aid…
I lived in Switzerland for 14 months. All I can say is that countries with a real sense of readiness will likely come out of these troubled times largely unharmed as opposed to others.
There is no way people will be ”largely unharmed” after the 7 year Great Tribulation, that’s coming to the earth, no matter how much they prep - if they don’t have Jesus Christ in their heart. Book of Revelation tells all about it.
Yes, but we have to prepare for a drop in living standards to...Third World levels. You may consider yourself unharmed, for you are alive. You're just going to count every cent, literally. Russia wants to attack Sweden? That sounds more like the ravings of a madman, most likely the position of the senile Biden and his entourage. Germany, of course, would suffer the most; its industry would be completely destroyed. We will have to go back to agriculture. You have your U.S. masters to thank for that.
@@tarik6990 When a Swedish man tries to prepare for war with Russia by pitching a tent in the woods and with one set of firewood I know there is something wrong with Swedish society. Most likely someone is preparing the Swedes to live in poverty but rejoice that they have defeated Russia.
Most Nordic people are helped with prepping by still having some connection to nature and recognise at least the common berries if nothing else, and several can identify a few mushrooms and other wild foods, as well as which part of the axe you aim at a piece of wood and which part to use for knocking things if a hammer is not available.
Not sure about "most" not here where I live anyway. I live in the city, only thing they recognize here as a source for food is American burger chains and Hemköp.
Lucky enough to be able to raise my children to light a fire , hunt, gather and understand the woods and weather . Mix that with books ,judo and rugby and yeah I think I've given them a edge but also happiness and a proper childhood. Rural England 🙂
Whatever concern of the possible outcome like war, natural disaster; it feels nice to be prepared just in case. Very happy as a fellow swede too see lots of people in my country are inspired to prepare for the possible outcomes.
Wow, it's really amazing that Sweden has built bunkers for it's residents. I've never heard of the US having this for it's population. I know the elites have hotel type bunkers and the gov for them and their immediate families.
@@baneofbanes What I mean is that each development is required to build a shelter; each building has to maintain one (they usually double-duty their underground parking) and each town or city is required to provide them, paid out of taxes as part of standard infrastructure, like bridges or roads. If you have the people, you have the money.
Really impressed with the Swedish people, once again. I wish I lived there. They have done prepping WITHOUT the conspiracy theories and craziness that is associated with it in America. The one thing I think Sweden has made a mistake with (which is mentioned by one of the participants in the documentary) is that they have gotten rid of cash essentially. I have read previously that most establishments don't even take cash and in addition it is very difficult to obtain and there are extremely few ATMs -- in some smaller towns they no longer have any at all. I view cash as an important part of a free society. It allows you to spend your money without privacy concerns and there is no bank stealing a percentage of every transaction. I don't see why no one is bothered that banks have essentially given themselves a cut of EVERY transaction, basically stealing part of GDP. Like almost everyone else I do use my debit card a lot out of laziness, but I do NOT like the idea of there not being cash. Like mentioned in the documentary, how will anyone obtain anything without stealing it if stores have no way to take payment in an emergency?
You are right , gotta go back to mixed system of using both cash & cards. COOP grocery chains were hacked last year and they couldn't sell the groceries for couple of days.

Really?! .. I haven't seen nor heard any change in peoples behavior. People still vote with their arse instead of there head. If they dident they would get harassed and probably loose their job and get their life destroyd. I know several cases like that. @@johanneswestman935 Johannes, the only part of your comment that bothers me is calling my fingers “burger stained” (I don’t pick my nose). I do have a F’d up government and they do stick their nose in places they shouldn’t usually with a false premise. American is a big country though with diverse political views. I was only speaking as a pretty direct descendant of Sweden myself. My grandfather who came her from Sweden was appointed by King Gustav V as Swedish Chancellor to the United States. I would be proud to help protect Sweden even at my age.
As I am visiting Sweden right now with my family, I wish I lived here. I wasn’t aware the Swedish were so threatened by Russia. I hope the Ukraini situation never happens to them.
This documentary is really good, but my personal view is that the threat is perceived as high because that is what those in power want us to believe. We need to be prepared but its not going to be needed because of Russia, but because of what is going on in the West I live in Sweden so I have a vested interest in this.
I became a prepper about 6 years ago mostly for disasters not for invasion from Russia. Makes you feel more secure. I don't know if I could survive a disaster but at least I have a head start.
I have a hard time believing that even 20% of Swedes (as a Swede myself) are prepping to any extent at all. If you live in a country like Finland, I could believe that the rate would be high because it was not too long ago they faced war, and the mentality there about the danger is completely different. In Sweden, it has been a taboo to talk about spending on defense for example, and that just goes to show the Swedish mindset that has dominated ever since the fall of the Berlin wall. Swedes have felt safe ever since then, even at times when there were submarine (Russian) crises etc. And although Russia has now invaded Ukraine, I am sure that most Swedes still think that this would never happen in Sweden. So therefore, people don't feel the need to prepare for the worst. I really think that even this low estimate of 20% is really misleading.
Good thing DW isn't saying that anywhere near 20% of Swedes are prepping, right? However, Sweden's government has for a long time recommended that all citizens always possess 72 hours' worth of food in case of an emergency. If you consider that "prepping" or not is left to interpretation.
Well they tell us to be able to be self sufficient for 48h or something, or am i wrong? I wouldn't say it's straight out prepping. Lots of people on the country side are naturally better prepare for this since they heat the house with wood and have their own well. If you live in the city you're in a bad spot. I don't know of anyone who didn't think downgrading the army and air force was a really up stupid idea.
I like the comment by the family father about why they do the prepping: "In time of a crisis I can be sure we are safe...and we dont need to drain ressources from the larger society and community...cos they will be taking care of other people, like sick and elderly people". No end of the world, conspiracy theories, just a down to earth guy who wants to keep his society running when stuff goes sideways.
I'm swedish and not a day has even gone by in my life that I'm not thankful for Finland being inbetween us and Russia. The finnish are hardcore, they will stand up to Russia! And yes, prepping sure has begun!
in Denmark we have been in a territorial dispute with rusia for ages (along with canada and norway) and we deffently dont have the same relationship to rusia as finland does.. and DK is also a gateway for their acces to the sea along with turkey. and they would have to secure that first to hold finland and perhaps the territorial dispute between rusia and dk is more importent to them then finland in the long run.. because of the value it hold to them, and to the rest of the world usa have also been a part of that despute, for example thule airbase is being used by the americans again after a long time because of that remember the territory of denmark probetly hold some of the last uncovered natural resources in the world, thanks to greenland and the melting ice.. (in a war these resources could make a huge diffence, just like they could to a country´s economy) along with a transport rute that is very usefull for the whole world.. we have to give them acces by sea to the rest of the world right now, so dk could be a very strategic place for them to start a attack against finland (and dk at the same time).. after all they would be on both sides of finland if they secure that, and that would make a huge difference.. dk is also a big supporter of the american poliotics compared to the rest of scandinavia , we have american army bases in dk for example... and our support to the american military is huge for our size compared to most other countrys
I think the government wants to make it easier. The folder they hand you gives at least a basic list. "Yeah, maybe I should have a can of water at home" or something.
@erik bengt "Om kriget eller krisen kommer" tries to cover at least the basics, most of it is stuff you can do with a household budget and your spare time. Storing a can of water or having cash on hand isn't hard work.
@erik bengt sorry to burst your bubble but the 15 to 20 percent you’re speaking of are the once stupidly hoarding toilet paper once the conflict has already started. Very few are well prepared in this country. Few outsides the cities and even not that many in the countryside.
They’re not ‘Preppers’ per se IMO. 1- they live in an apt bldg. 2- they are on a TV broadcast talking about all their preps. Two big no-no’s as far as I see it.
If nothing else, prepping allows you to better appreciate things in life. This by itself allows one to make better choices, and reestablish connection with reality.
Thank you fr sharing of this document. That I know so early of Putin´s war, many of my swedish friends and other who living in Sweden have prepared. To store food and change the skills to each other. I am sure that every one in Sweden is preparing for War situation. Best Wishes from STOCKHOLM - SWEDEN
Every single human should be more like this. I'm going to show this to my husband and talk about how we can implement this into our lives and our children's lives
This is tradition in Africa ( or the so called under developed world). That's why even the pandemic wasn't harsh on us as the rest of the world thought would be.
People laugh at preppers, but if a disaster happens they are most likely to survive. If nothing happens, they spent quality time together as a family, learned skills and didnt sit glued to a monitor 24/7. In my opinions its a win win.
I think doing non-silly and practical things help. There's a hydro dam upriver, what do we do if it breaks. A lot of people volunteer in a civil defence capacity, the municipality could be bolstered by some hundred volunteers.
I'm not an all-out prepper, but I've done what I can to have extra food and supplies, even when I couldn't afford it. A couple different times I've had to use up the extra stores, then build it back up. You never know when electricity will go out for an extended time, you may experience an extended health crisis, job loss or natural disaster. Even a small food storage can get you through tough times, or even help family members.
@@CanYouRememberWhen The brochure they hand out is for a minimum of readiness. I think the goal set out in it is three days. It outlines basic needs like water, which food can be stored, how to keep in communication. Houses here are already built with good insulation, but they recommend that you only heat one room if you have limited heat sources.
Coming from a long line of Native Americans and hardy pioneers, we call having seven years of food and survival gear an everyday thing. I suppose it is prepping, but having been through several natural disasters and weather events, it makes sense to ensure your family's safety and comfort. When the Texas power grid collapsed due to deregulation and greed I was shocked so few people had any type of preparations. You need several months of food and multiple ways to treat water to get through the least bothersome disaster.
I was one of 9 children both parents in the home, we grew up growing our food fishing and gathering fruit, and cleaning rabbits, cleaning squirrels, curing pigs canning veggies and meat this was and is a way of life, because we grew up in the 60's And after my first pregnancy I did it even more, I have raised 3 boys who were never full, prepping has been and always will be a part of us Blessings
@user-of8jb8di3j These skills will never go out of style! My family is trying something new after two summers of heat challenges to our garden. I turned a sunny room into a Garden Room. The scallions, celery, herbs, lettuces, greens, carrots, cherry tomatoes, sweet peas, and other root vegetables provide daily fresh vegetables to go with the ubiquitous beans, masa, and rabbits of my youth. Keep up your family traditions! Blessings!
Its good that people know prepping skills. The worst case scenario is that you develop a hobby that is enjoyable, you develop skills, and you you become more mindful and self reliant.
This would really bother me. You can't have your own space or bins in your own house that you both share to do with what you want? He doesn't have to prep or understand, but why should that stop you? Is he more of the breadwinner and "low key feels he needs to exert control in that way? If not, do your thing. What's a few bins or extra water or cans in the basement, out of the way closet, a bed, the garage, etc.?
This is amazing, I am in the U.S. and everyone thinks I'm crazy for prepping. We all need to look to Sweden, we can learn so much. How do I find the Swedish prepper channels on You Tube? Thank you and God Bless !
I am glad to see that the Swedish MSB is doing the responsible thing in prepping its citizens. The Russian threat is probably a lot less than a Fire, Storm or other civic emergencies and the more people are prepared and trained, the better they can help themselves, their families, neighbors and other members of the public. In this way the government resources are not used on what individuals can do. Government emergency workers are not miracle workers and they need public's help to make the whole emergency response systems to work with least amount of stress Just look at the fires in EU and other places due to global warming...
It's fascinating how a country that fully rely on government for every decision can look a country of preppers when in reality most people don't even know the basics. I guess paid PR is important.

It just depends on how you look at it and what kind of society you live in. If you push people into living in their cars, micro flats and tiny houses because of suppressed wages/services that benefit the rich, they aren't going to be able to buy and store a 2 year supply of food. They should be able to expect help given the amount they've been exploited to benefit the people and systems that have resources to help them
I live in a rural area in the US. I am fortunate that we have a wood- burning stove, a spring for water, and always have food in the pantry. Right now, I figure that my partner and I could go a month on our present resources. We honestly are prepared due to our location being a 45 minute drive from a store. We used to have frequent power outages. As long as our health holds out, we can do alright.

OUTSTANDING VIDEO‼️‼️‼️I’m SO IMPRESSED by the Swedish 🇸🇪🇸🇪people‼️ Your country has been wise, even insightful, in the building & equipping of the multitude of underground bunkers with air filtration, water, etc., & clearly demonstrates the more prepared mindset of your general population, as well as your leaders & government. Here in the USA, that hasn’t happened. And yes, it’s embarrassing. Our governments officials appear to be concerned only with ‘THE CONTINUITY OF GOVERNMENT,’ always looking out for #1, doing whatever is required to position themselves, their families, AND let’s not forget their ‘wealth,’ in order to survive what’s ahead. The elites always seem to get a free ride while others struggle to be ready.
@Simon McCreath - There are a few people in the comment section of this video saying that they’re Swedish, but how do you know they are? I could say I’m from Turkey. (I’m not). How would you know if I was telling the truth or not? 🤷🏻♀️ Secondly, I’ve watched several docus on how the Swedish people are preppers and what they’re doing to prepare. This is defs not the first docu to make this claim. Why are multiple documentaries being made that make the same claim, if it isn’t true? What is the point of spreading a lie? Why are multiple companies choosing to spread the same lie? 🤨 What’s much more likely is that the people in this comment section who are saying they’re Swedes and the government is NOT encouraging people to prep, well, maybe they just haven’t seen it. Just bc someone missed hearing about something doesn’t mean it isn’t happening at all. Also, no one is saying to live in fear. In fact, prepping is the opposite. Prepping is where you get prepared for bad things (in case they happen!) so you can stop worrying about them. If you’re ready, your fear level drops. This is a common misconception (that preppers are always terrified about the future). It’s simply not true. Hope that helps!
"If Sweden is attacked by another country, we will never give up. All information to the effect that resistance is to cease is false." - I will always fight for the North!

It's not a bad thing to be prepared. I know a lot of people attribute this behaviour to disaster-ising your lifestyle and maybe worrying your kids, but to be honest, none of us knows what will happen in our futures. Expect nothing, be prepared for anything. Fail to prepare, prepare to fail! Good to see.
Much respect to the Swedes, from USA. Wish our total population was more prepared and ready for anything that may go down. God Bless your beautiful country.
Well that's not true. Alot of folk living in Wellington have water and food stored & a way to cook food and to be warm because of the risk of earthquakes. I'm sure Christchurch people would also have supplies since the big earthquake too. Our local school is the centre for civil defence for our community. Other communities would have that too.

@Adina Medrea our definition of civilized is clearly different. Culture aside, the western world shares certain values that Eastern Europeans, inherently, don't share or are incompatible with us.

The Swedish mindset is good. Here in the UK, we prepper's are treated as crazy or political right wing nutters.

I like the comment by the family father about why they do the prepping:
"In time of a crisis I can be sure we are safe...and we dont need to drain ressources from the larger society and community...cos they will be taking care of other people, like sick and elderly people".
And yes, prepping sure has begun!
in Denmark we have been in a territorial dispute with rusia for ages (along with canada and norway)
and we deffently dont have the same relationship to rusia as finland does..
and DK is also a gateway for their acces to the sea along with turkey.
and they would have to secure that first to hold finland
and perhaps the territorial dispute between rusia and dk is more importent to them then finland in the long run..
because of the value it hold to them, and to the rest of the world
usa have also been a part of that despute, for example thule airbase is being used by the americans again after a long time because of that
remember the territory of denmark probetly hold some of the last uncovered natural resources in the world, thanks to greenland and the melting ice.. (in a war these resources could make a huge diffence, just like they could to a country´s economy)
along with a transport rute that is very usefull for the whole world..
we have to give them acces by sea to the rest of the world right now, so dk could be a very strategic place for them to start a attack against finland (and dk at the same time)..
after all they would be on both sides of finland if they secure that, and that would make a huge difference..
dk is also a big supporter of the american poliotics compared to the rest of scandinavia , we have american army bases in dk for example...
and our support to the american military is huge for our size compared to most other countrys

I was one of 9 children both parents in the home, we grew up growing our food fishing and gathering fruit, and cleaning rabbits, cleaning squirrels, curing pigs canning veggies and meat this was and is a way of life, because we grew up in the 60's
And after my first pregnancy I did it even more, I have raised 3 boys who were never full, prepping has been and always will be a part of us
Blessings
I wish my husband had more of this mindset. He doesn’t like “clutter” and apparently thinking the worst is being negative.
Not to worry you will have a new man shortly after disaster strikes
This would really bother me. You can't have your own space or bins in your own house that you both share to do with what you want? He doesn't have to prep or understand, but why should that stop you?
Is he more of the breadwinner and "low key feels he needs to exert control in that way? If not, do your thing. What's a few bins or extra water or cans in the basement, out of the way closet, a bed, the garage, etc.?
I have a Finnish partner that is like that also, too trustful that his government will take care of everything and everyone in case of a major crisis…
As someone that's grown up doing this sort of things it's good to see a lot of people getting it.
These are the must have skills nowadays no matter where you live.
I guess paid PR is important.
city people , those are the ones who need "prepping courses" and suddenly the press is interested. We have reindeer herders, native saami people in the north.. you honestly believe they need goverment instructions to stay warm and fed? You think members of the nordic forest nations, descendants of vikings could not figure out how to start a fire in a pinch? The losers in this clip are all city people detached from their nature. Outside of the cities everyone has a plan b, since forever. Not just because of russians. American morons believe just because we have social welfare, we depend on the state on everything. gtfo clueless.
deutsche well is a german channel, and obviously they interview stockholm losers - both entity dont know what nature is. Fortunately the peole who matter in a crisis are farmers and hunters, and they dont live in the city. If you want to survive, find a farmer. It has been the same in ww2.
Only the blond schoolgirl that said, she believes finnland is much more likely to be invaded is spot on.... everyone else is just channelling their hysteria.
i cooked many meals on fire in the out-doors, never have i relied on empty cans for that. Its all bullshit. Someone selfimportant found himself a purpouse.
@@annarock8966 explain?

We used to have
frequent power outages.
As long as our health holds out, we can do alright.
We live the same way as you in Northern California. We were really prepared when covid hit and test our way of life. Worked great. We have weeks to months of food and other staples to fall back on.
May your health be well! Congrats!
Love these guys, I wish my dads would have taught me that as a child
today is as good as any other day to get started
@@kalui96 That's true. I don't wanna save face but Uruguay is way behind Sweden... not only when it comes to weapons handling but also mindset, let alone having bunkers for whole communities. The only good thing is that we don't have agressive nations so close to our borders
@@gonzalodeubelbeis9320 educating yourself and being honest with your abilities, limitations, and lot in life is 75% of it. I hope you have a good reputation with your neighborhood, I feel like that is the other 25%
@@gonzalodeubelbeis9320 Chico, 80% of nations in this planet are vulnerable to nuclear war and have no bunkers none whatsoever. Uruguay is no different .so don't feel bad. your country isn't rich and its ok.
@@gonzalodeubelbeis9320 screw weapons and the martial aspect. Find the door of your house - and go outside.
go into the nature... observe and listen to the old and native people of your land.
In the european nordics/arctic it would be the saami tribes in the north who are excellent huntsmen and the knowledge of living in and from the nature is still fresh and lived by.
live with the nature, not against it.
.... then you can one day teach your own children.
Every country has nature, your job is to preserve it and learn how it works. Learn from youtube. Learn from the native people.
If you have forests, protect them from greedy businesses....
There is no way to survive in the great outside when it is all ruined.
If you want to be a true prepper, you need to preserve what camourflages you, what shelters you, what feeds you wherever you happen to live.
The source for my prepping comes from my fear of incompetence in my leaders and my lack of trust in the system. Not war.
Secondly, I’ve watched several docus on how the Swedish people are preppers and what they’re doing to prepare. This is defs not the first docu to make this claim. Why are multiple documentaries being made that make the same claim, if it isn’t true? What is the point of spreading a lie? Why are multiple companies choosing to spread the same lie? 🤨
What’s much more likely is that the people in this comment section who are saying they’re Swedes and the government is NOT encouraging people to prep, well, maybe they just haven’t seen it.
That's not reality. That's marketing. most swedes have no idea how to even think without the government telling them what to do. I live there.
That's not true.
UA-cam is deleting my comments. All you see in that video is paid promotion. That's not reality. sweden is a country of oblivious people.
sweden is evil.
Long live, dear Sweden! 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
"If Sweden is attacked by another country, we will
never give up. All information to the effect that
resistance is to cease is false." - I will always fight for the North!
From Canada I am so sorry you r having to be in this situation
Im from Norway. So sorry for your neighbor to the South.
But joking aside. You guys have some serious nature and weather that can throw up some serious suprises. Would not hurt to be prepared to handle a few days without electricity or other utilities😊
Martin and Max and doing the correct thing in looking for routes out. It will be frightening to try to exit a large city. Also, Per and his medical training. No one gets enough of this.
Anything can happen not only war, so it's always good to be prepared!
It is. They all got guns
Living in NZ, we are TOTALLY unprepared for anything.
Dont worry i live in sweden and im not prepared to. This is just for show actually no one is prepared here
