I thought I had the whole repeat concept mastered but here recently I’m having trouble with a few things. Found your video and it’s introducing new concepts that are more advanced than what I’ve seen which I love but I fear now my learning curve is even gonna be longer grr! Thank you for doing it fast bc I usually have to rewatch many times and I hate when mundane details slow me down. You are a badass
You always surprise me. I thought I knew how to create a repeating pattern and now you’ve shown me an easier and even more precise method. Thanks so much Teela! I always look forward to Tuesday and your video.
I've used procreate before for some simple pattern making for my crochet or just to doodle. But i'm slowly learning about the different tools and features available. I can't draw very well, but I was very interested in trying this method out to see what I could come up with. I am so happy with the results! It's not perfect by any means, but I think I got the technique down, and i'm gonna fix it up some more when I have free time. The tutorial was fast, and I did have to replay things, but it kept me engaged and was very helpful in learning this skill. Thank you for the video!
Really nice tutorial!! I love your method of using the selection tool to cut and paste the original pattern.. have to say, I’ve not seen that in other seamless pattern videos!
I had no idea it was that easy to draw a lemon 😮 So much fun. I’ve been wondering how to create a repeating pattern for a while now. Thanks for this tutorial.
I’m in actual awe! Thank you! I normally follow the tutorial right away but I decided to watch this one through before trying it. I can’t wait to make this later!!
You have now given me a different way to do repeat patterns. Thank you. I’m not sure which one is faster or more efficient but they all get the job done. Thank you. Beautiful pattern
I’m not sure what happened :-( My bottom layer when testing has a line across horizontally. I’m so sad. I followed along so extremely closely. What did I do wrong ? Please help ❤
I couldn’t see what size canvas you used to make your lemons? I get confused on what canvas size you should make your motifs so they don’t pixelate if they are put on a large item such as a bed cover. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
This is a fantastic tutorial thanks! It feels so long winded a process though, which I can see is the only way to do it in Procreate but it feels like a process that needs an add-on or something!
This is a great tutorial. I a having trouble flattening my image as the option doesn’t appear. Can you help as I think I followed all the instructions correctly 🤔 x
Great videos thanks so much. Im just learning pProcreate. Could you tell me how to enable my canvas to move about so I can get at different parts I wont to work on as you are doing in the video. I can zoom in and out and move up and down but cannot rotate the canvas while Im working. Thank you
Awesome! very informative! trying do it now. Thanks! one question, noticed that there are some seamless patterns with rectangle, not square which are sold now, dont know how to reshape and position these kinds of pattern to be square. or anything need to done for using it as seamless pattern? Many thanks!
Thank you once again for the very informative tutorial 😳 how do you remember all the steps?! Think I’ll just keep this one handy so I will have something to refer to 🤣
Hey Teela, this was such a fun tutorial to follow along with! I have a question, after I completed all the steps and turned off my drawing guides, I could still see lines separating the four square segments on my canvas. Any idea where I went wrong there? Thanks!
If any lines are appearing, it means the squares weren't perfectly snapped into the guide. If they're off just a little bit or get nudged by accident, those lines will show.
I’ve had the same problem and did it again because in my case snapping was not enough, the yellow lines need to appear. BTW great tutorial. I stole the idea with your lemons and did another one with a holiday picture. Thank you. One question, when you open your snapping tool, which numbers you chose? Edited Part: I have a second question: How can I use it in procreate as a background? When I make a brush of it it’s monochromatic, can I do a coloured brush version or can I only use it as a layer, when I want it coloured? Thank you🙏
I also have lines on mine even with carefully using the snapping function? Not sure what’s gone wrong. Even went back and redid all the steps to be extra careful but still lines? Any ideas how to solve this? Otherwise, a great tutorial! Though super fast! Had to keep replaying sections as it was so fast! But thank you!!
Such a fun review after taking your flat florals course. Do you have a video on how to take your seamless pattern and set it up to print as wrapping paper by a local printer? Would a person simply set the tiles on a larger canvas like the test? When I do this I see likened on my pattern even with snapping turned on.
Export the pattern square as a jpg (tiff if you're using it for something important), then import it on a larger canvas and tile it. You could also use my free Pattern Playground tool to export it and have it all done for you (vid here: ua-cam.com/video/kDeKxEo20vk/v-deo.htmlsi=bn4WTPcs1QhDuDbI )
Hey Could you help me solve a problem. I am following the exact rules, however there is a thin line or gap in my tiles which is visible once the pattern is complete. There is a gap that runs through. I do keep the snapping on when I snatch the image into the selection however there is a thin line that appears once I drop the files to make a pattern
I love this tutorial (and everything Tuesday!) but I cannot get the squares lined up no matter how many times I’ve tried. (57 thousand) My yellow lines are so sensitive they jump when I lift the pencil. I keep trying and it looks like I have them right but when I move the squares around there are tiny gaps in the pattern. Is there another way to get the squares in exactly the right spot?
Yes! I wish I mentioned this (had mine on by default so it totally slipped my mind). When you have a square selected and ready to move, in the settings panel at the bottom of your screen, tap the ‘snapping’ icon (furthest to the left) and make sure magnetics and snapping are both turned on and toggle the velocity and distance to max. That’ll make lining it up super easy!
ok and i want to ask u that i draw textile designs only page not digitally. I want to sell my design. But i do not know where to sell? Or whom i can contact? So can tell me what should I do?
Seamless just means it's a continuous repeat without any gaps or weird areas that don't match up. A half drop is a specific type of pattern (think of it as how the boxes would be arranged/configured differently)

Aww yay! Thanks so much for this, it means a lot! ❤️

Happy to help! Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for the clear and slow enough for new learners as myself. I can’t wait to try a pattern today ! Thank YOU❣️

Updated/faster process now available here: https//procreatepatterns.com 👍
This is the most complicated thing I’ve tried so far 😩
OMG I was searching for this ... Thank you so so much
Love this tutorial! Thank you. How do you export it to be a scalable pattern?
so amazing tutorial, easy to understand, more power to your channel, and God bless beautiful host
This is a great tutorial. I a having trouble flattening my image as the option doesn’t appear. Can you help as I think I followed all the instructions correctly 🤔 x
Thank you so much kind Teela for sharing the steps this is cool and feels lovely 🥰
❤️
This is great, since I don't have illustrator. I'm definitely going to try this in Clip Studio, thanks! :D

How did you get the set of background leaves to show? I did place layer below the lemons but maybe I missed something. Thank you
Thank you!! I always learn something new with you 🙌🏻
That makes my day! Thank you!
Absolutely loved this tutorial! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you once again for the very informative tutorial 😳 how do you remember all the steps?! Think I’ll just keep this one handy so I will have something to refer to 🤣
haha, once you do it a few times, it really sticks/makes more sense!
'I think I may actually be able to do this. Thank you 😊

I don't yet, but this video of using Spoonflower similarly may help (start around the 19:30 mark): ua-cam.com/video/AsAEbd0gznE/v-deo.html
Thanks! So grateful for your tutorials! I find the snapping almost impossible. Is there any trick to this?
Yes! Turn on snapping + magnetics and push the distance and velocity settings to max 👍
This was wonderful. Just one question -- at the end where you show the pattern with many repeats, how did you do that?
Export the pattern square as a jpg (tiff if you're using it for something important), then import it on a larger canvas and tile it. You could also use my free Pattern Playground tool to export it and have it all done for you (vid here: ua-cam.com/video/kDeKxEo20vk/v-deo.htmlsi=bn4WTPcs1QhDuDbI )
Amazing!
Awesome! Thank you. What file format do you save this as if you want to sell it as a repeat pattern that someone else can expand further? 😊
You could provide as a flattened jpg or if you want to give the user the ability to edit it, you'd want to provide an unflattened psd 👍
Hey

Thanks Teela. I can easily do half drops in photoshop, but haven’t really explored them in Procreate. Do you have a method?
I'll put it on my list!
Do you teach live classes online?
I love this tutorial (and everything Tuesday!) but I cannot get the squares lined up no matter how many times I’ve tried. Can anyone tell how to use this pattern in procreate for filling in a garment ?
Clicking on the link for the colour swabs doesn’t open the site.
I keep getting these white lines in my patterns so frustrating!
Fabulous
Hi i want to ask u procreate app is only for apple or we can use it in any Android or pc?
It only works with Apple 👍
ok and i want to ask u that i draw textile designs only page not digitally. I want to sell my design. But i do not know where to sell? Or whom i can contact? So can tell me what should I do?
What’s the difference between seamless patterns and half drop patterns?
Seamless just means it's a continuous repeat without any gaps or weird areas that don't match up. A half drop is a specific type of pattern (think of it as how the boxes would be arranged/configured differently)
🙏
Is this what is called a half drop pattern?
This is considered a full drop 👍
Mine still has lines 😢
You made the pattern part too complicated. There are easier ways. But otherwise, it was very fun!
Yes, I agree - that’s why I made procreatepatterns.com 👍
This was too confusing for me.
Way too fast…. I can’t keep up at all
Thank you so much for this tutorial! Brilliant!
this video is so helpful, thank you!
