If you're interested Dan, the flies that were bombarding you are hawthorn flies, also know as St Marks flies because of the date they usually hatch.. Totally harmless and do not bite.. Love the vlogs both, keep em coming.. Happy travels.
Back in the 60’s as a kid I also spent many a happy weekend swimming in the river just past Bolton Abbey. I seem to recall that just after the Cavendish Memorial there was a road that led down to the rivers edge where you could park. There was a wooden building that was a cafe, next to a bridge over the river. If I’m not mistaken this area was called Foulbrough Gate (not sure how to spell it)?
Love the content of your videos, very entertaining (and educational). We live near Durham and have visited many of the places you've been to so far but, through your eyes, realise that there are also so many things we have overlooked. On our visits to Bolton Abbey we also parked at the Riverside car park where you would have gone to. Your vertigo moment also brought back memories of doing that walk on the opposite bank and encountering that high, steep section next to the river. I'm afraid of heights and I almost froze in fright too scared to move but what a momentous moment when I finally made it and the path took you further away from the bank side. Enjoy the rest of your tour and stay safe.
After watching you two for 5yrs i have finally worked out how to do a comment on u tube Anyway thanks for your channel and all the great content, keep doing what u do MANY THANKS BRIAN C ( living in thailand)
We have done that arch, in our motorhome, we have a high roof and we were towing the car 😳. Very scary 😧 Mazzy I love your coffee machine shelf x. Wish we had one very posh x
Just give it another 5-10 years and the stepping stones will have handrails either side...or worse...closed! It’s getting daft! 🤪 Very enjoyable video again guys. 👌🏼
Enjoying your back to back videos, Mazzy your a 🌟(onions!) those flies I think could be St Marks flies they have long back legs that hang down and are about this time of year. Till next time enjoy yourselves 👍
Big thanks to Mazzy. You have saved me a fortune. I love spring onions. Al the years I've bn buying them they have been growing in the bottom of my garden:D Great vid guys x
That was a fabulous part of the world, never heard of it before and definitely worth a visit. Spring onions! I'll never look at a daffodil the same way again :)
Love watching you both even if I don’t comment very often. Just wanted to say that the nursery rhyme mentions the laughing dog. It goes Hey diddle diddle the cat and the fiddle, the cow jumped over the moon. The little dog laughed to see such fun and the dish ran away with the spoon. Hope that helps.
#600 !! Beautiful day where you are. The Priory & the Abby & the Cow jumped over the Moon Priory .🌙🌚 🐄 Lovely program 👏😀 very nice. Blessing to the both of you.
Bolton Abbey it's a lovely location but I know that arch it's very narrow. We used to park down by the river like you said but I have never been unto the priory another place I think I'm going to have to have a revisit to bring back some family memories.
We had a similar problem going through the glory hole in Lincoln while in our boat. Everything has to be taken down. Cant rely on height as depends on river level
My parents would take us to Bolton Priory when we were kids , possibly the same place were you went, we used to swim in the river in our swimming trunks made by my grandma 👵 out of old jumpers, she would cut the arms off but always forgot to sow the neck up 🤣🤪👍
Try it on a bank Hol Monday with 2 mile ques both ways and loads of motorbikes trying to get past and the opposite traffic getting frustrated not giving you enough room for the tail swing . Ahh those days not.
The priory church Bolton Sbbey was where Raquel Welch's son married ??Freddie Truman's?? daughter. Raquel, stealing the show apparently. Imagine a mother in law doing that??!! I dont think the couple are still married!
A horsefly looks like a regular house fly, except 7 times bigger. Nasty little f- uh never mind. Believe it or not, vinegar acts like a repellant. Ya might smell like a salad, but it will keep em away. Pour it on a towel & rub it on your exposed skin. Reapply as needed. Saved me from getting bit on numerous hikes. Anyway, thank you for another great video and we shall, see you in the next one.

All Abbeys are the same. They were full of monks and they are all falling down.
Another Dan classic. Wonderful.
All true 😁

@@mpwall123 yes, that's the official name unfortunately. It goes under the buildings.
Just noticed we have the same kettle, in Gray love it for a brew.
It's a gorgeous place, we used to go camping there as kids. The Chinese looked delish.. Great episode you two 😊👏

Castle Acre Priory has a Low arch 11"3' and only Wide 6"6' can be avoided to get a MotorHome to Priory
Hi you are on about Burnsall its very nice there

Dan when did you get the part in Peaky Blinders?
That scares me the thought of damaging motorhome 🙃🙃🙃
They're called St Mark's flies Dan and the males fly with their legs dangling down. Come out this time of year for just a few days to mate.
Cool

Been there got that t shirt. Conwy castle had to unhitch the caravan and turn around. Cars queuing in every direction. Worst tow day ever
Yikes
I think when you were a kid you parked further along the road down by the cavendish memorial where there's a cafe.
Correct
Those black flys (20.05) are called St Marks Fly or Hawthorn fly. stay safe💜
Thanks for that 🙂
Try it on a bank Hol Monday with 2 mile ques both ways and loads of motorbikes trying to get past and the opposite traffic getting frustrated not giving you enough room for the tail swing . Ahh those days not.
The fly,s are the May fly, hatch out the water around about now and the fish love them.
Thank you 🙂
What would you recon to taking a 8ft wide caravan through, according to the club there’s no problem
We are 7ft 7inch and wouldn't want to try anything wider.
@@TravelTrollsTV thank you, we’ve cancelled it unfortunately, I dare not risk taking the 8ft caravan through
Hey left a like dan and mazz I gotten a new national trust membership card 😀😀😀
Are you planning on coming to Ilkley at all if so it would be nice to meet
No sorry
Bolton? thats wheres Fred Dibnah LIved, may he rest in peace
Bolton Abbey is not in Bolton 😂 but your correct about Fred Dibnah living in Bolton.
@@carolynscollections it is? Thought it was outside Bolton because he worked in a lot of churches that seem to be in the middle of nowhere
@@russellpointer4731 it’s 55 miles from where Fred lived. Bolton Abbey is nearer to Skipton.
@@carolynscollections ah I see
interesting video, stay safe you guys.:)
The arch looks scary xxx
Our National Trust sticker just will not stick this year guessing they have changed suppliers.
Saving money.
enjoy video.
Dan you look tired.
enjoy your evening.
🌺 Smashing
Keep on trucking. Bolton Abbey lies in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales near Skipton. And is not near Bolton in Lancashire.
No way you forgot it was HASSLEHOFF the king of Germany since 1982
Yeah him lol
