  • I got my new bear bell! It’s the same model bear bell I previously used in Japan, which seems to work well, as I only ever met a bear once in ten years of solo exploring in the Japan Southern Alps. Softypapa version 2.0 is shaping up nicely, I think! 🐻🔔

🚶‍♂️Embrace the echo of adventure with Softypapa’s latest acquisition - the trusty bear bell, a proven companion through the dense forests and soaring peaks of the Japan Southern Alps. In a decade of solitary explorations, its gentle jingle has kept the wilderness at bay, with only a single bear encounter to recount. Join us as we delve into the significance of this small but mighty tool, a symbol of preparedness and respect for nature’s inhabitants. The journey of Softypapa Version 2.0 begins, equipped with experience and the serene sound of safety. Let’s explore the uncharted, together, with wisdom and wonder in every step.
Kurt Bell, the heart and soul behind Softypapa, continues to weave his unique blend of adventure and philosophy into the fabric of life. His relentless pursuit of the unknown, coupled with a profound appreciation for the natural world, has led him across myriad landscapes, both externally and internally. With each step, Kurt invites us to ponder our own paths, encouraging exploration not just of the land but of the self. 🌲🐻🔔

Looking forward to seeing you explore the Japanese wilderness, or rather wildness, again. Truth be told I have always have enjoyed your exploration videos, whether in a temperate rainforest in Japan or a searing desert in Southern California (rather ironically called "Siberia"). I go back and rewatch each type once in a while, I pick whichever location to watch depending on my mood!

Thank you for your warm encouragement and you are past support of the channel in both Japan and America. I really appreciate that! And I can’t wait to bring you more Japan content perhaps heightened with the perspective of the American desert. I can’t wait to see what that makes yields. Have a wonderful day! 😊☀️👍

A very important piece of hiking equipment! Cool that you've gotten the new version of the same model. What happened to your old one, if I may ask?

Yes. I’m glad I was able to find the same manufacturer. I think I threw the old one out. However, I don’t really remember. 🤪

I had to Google the bear bell. Apparently it doesn't really work and is a waste of money from what I have found on my google Internet, searching. I've never used one in person, so I can't honestly say but the experts say it does not work.

It's probably much better than sneaking up on a bear that doesn't hear you coming.
