Great video Steve! To head off any speculation, the rider down around the 25 min mark suffered a fractured tibia and is now recovering well with titanium pins and plates inserted...my inability to turn left in gravel has earnt me 8-10 weeks on my ass 🤗...great ride tho, and will be back for sure!
Thanks, I’m now riding again after six months off due to shoulder surgery from that crash before the hill. Try Steve’s Tesla also on UA-cam if your into EV’s. Cheers
Hey Steve I did Gibson's lane last week on wall to wall on my R1200 GS. Goal for the trip was not to drop it. I achieved that goal.. As you saw there were plenty of go arounds. I took them all. You could do it next time.
@@StevesBikes01 the other option mate is when it starts lugging, or just before pull the clutch in increase revs and feed the clutch back out again. Once momentum is lost it's all over! A few tricks I discovered the hard way myself
I was watching this and said to my wife that the poor bugger normally falls off in his videos but gee he is doing well this time ......and then you fell off... clearly my fault and I jinxed you Steve....great video and not quite an introductory level ride in my view either.. :)
@@StevesBikes01 I did the BMW Masterclass last year and had a few offs during that course and it takes a while to get confidence back after a simple off..I was considering the rideadv weekends but the hairy stuff is a bit too much for me on a 1200 i think....
Nice vid notice u got Barkbusters fitted I’ve tried them, same bike as u, can’t seem to get an ideal fit giving good clearance and correct lever position for off road, how did u find them to fit and also what’s the model number u have looks slightly different than mine
Colm, Barkbusters on the F850GS Adventure Ralley requires bar risers so the Barkbusters/ bars clear the tank on full lock. I have a 2020 F850 GS Adventure Ralley and the stock plastic hand guards won't last more than one or two drops when riding on the dirt, Barkbusters are a necessity.
Challenging terrain, well done Steve
Thanks for posting
Nice to ride with you Steve and thanks for putting up this video.
This, why I don’t do many group rides too much giv-it-a-go
Some challenging terrain there Steve, well done navigating a big bike through it.
really challenging , nice video I enjoyed it very much

Hi Mat, I hope there is no permanent damage, see you on another ride. Cheers
Hi Mat. Wishing you a speedy recovery. See you on the next ride.
That looked like such a good trip. Something I would like to do one day.
Don’t leave it too long, time doesn’t wait
Hi Steve your riding has improved since you did the BMW
Great videos! Are you able to share the routes?
Now that looked like fun.

For someone who started riding off-road late in age you go ok, imagine how much better you would be on 250 or 300cc
Thanks for the feedback, my confidence is increasing. I have thought about getting a smaller bike or hiring one next time to try it out. Cheers
You will enjoy trail riding lot more with a lighter bike.
Great going Steve, you will be surprised how much more stable you are if you just carry a little more momentum.
Yes i've pick up on that, thanks. I was quite new to off road when I did that class, cheers
wrong feedback, yes, I was in too low a gear and needed more speed, cheers

@@davebrien8487 G'Day, yes I am learning that. First it takes some balls, then a bit of technique, I'm gaining both. Cheers

ha Ha, thanks Al, yeah I went down hard. I think my confidence is improving, I'm still new at this. Thanks for watching.

Fantastic! Do you ride most of these trails/roads with traction control activated?
Hello, yes TC is on by default. Enduro Pro mode (see other video) enables some rear wheel spin. Also see Steve’s Tesla if you’re into EV’s. Cheers
Do you have the GPX files of the route?
G'Day, no sorry. However if you Google the road names you'll be able to reconstruct most of it. Cheers
Need to keep the revs up more Steve - just too low...and make sure you turn traction control off
Looking at doing a ride.. what did you grade this ride?
For me, 10/10 as I liked the balance between road and dirt. Not super technical but that was good as we did nearly 2,000km.

From memory the are Barkbuster Carbon. I had them fitted at City coast in wollongong. The catalogue stated ok for BMW 850. Cheers
I was able to fit Bark Busters without risers. Cheers
@@StevesBikes01 cheers Steve keep up the great content and the bike revs😊clutch to control speed, that way less stalling
