  • This video is on how I replace my gas struts on my RV awning as the symptom was that it wasn't going out when you started the process and it would kind of grind and rattle on the arms as it was coming back in.

Yes, not one of my better videos. The challenger was like we needed so many hands to do so many things with the amount of people we had and the ladders the more people the more ladders the more I could’ve filmed but thank you for your comments and watching the video.

Yes, and I’m sorry it’s not one of my best videos like I’ve said another comments. It was a challenge to get enough ladders enough people enough hands to hold everything so it was very difficult to do a video. I apologize for that.

Did you consider just un-threading the strut from the eyelets on both ends and then threading the new strut in place. I know its not possible on all models but is easier to replace if it is possible.

Yeah, I know what you mean but the pressure that’s on on the strut is amazing. It’s so hard to Ashley compressor when you don’t have the arms to do it. Great suggestion but I don’t think it’s doable because of the pressure on the strut. Thanks for your comments and thanks for watching

How do you get the awning extended first if there is no power to the awning?

I guess the only way to do that is to physically pull it, which is an easy you’ll need some ladders a few people thanks for watching and your comments

Never tape a video holding the camera in one hand while doing something that requires two hands

You got that so right not one of my better videos because I was quite a challenge to do everything with just two people and not enough ladders and equipment so I apologize for such a poor video but yes you’re right. Thanks for watching and your comments.

You have spare lock washers, where did you get spares?

I took one of the ones that came in the package with the gas struts and I got them at Lowe’s but I brought one just to check the size. Hope this helps.

Contact the awing manufacturer, they carry parts kits and/or press clips.

WWWAAAAAYYYYY to much work involved here, It takes one pair of pliers and two men to change a strut.

Yes, I totally agree with you. It was quite a big project and unfortunately not one of my better videos because if I had four hands, I would probably do a lot better lol but it was quite a challenge to get the ladders up get all the pieces we needed and you would need a scaffolding system to do this job properly, so yeah, I would agree with you Unless you really have the patience the people and the equipment. It’s best to let RV place do it but it was a learning experience for me. It’s something I wanted to try. Thanks for watching and your comments.

Yes, I totally agree with you. Funny thing as I wanted to do better than what I did, but it was so hard with just the people we had the ladders the equipment we had so yeah it’s not a great video but I hope it helps a little bit you for your comments and watching the video.
