- Full interview from Claire Jones and myself from the “Justice for Tank” animal cruelty case. This was a case we advocated for the maximum sentence possible. Steven Eldridge was given 1 year and a $1,000 fine for locking “Tank” the dog in a bathroom with no food or water. Tank’s kidneys shut down after the water ran out in the toilet bowl and slowly he died. It was an agonizing death. Slow and painful. Steven Eldridge did this on purpose. Let that sink in. He admitted to police it was to spite his ex-wife. He also gave other excuses like “I lost the keys to the apartment” and “the new place would not accept animals”. Pathetic! We will continue to be the voice for the voiceless!!! We will continue to advocate for the harshest punishments for these crimes towards animals!!! We’re working with our district reps at the capital in Tallahassee to get more time added to this charge of - cause cruel death, pain, and suffering.
The fact he caused an innocent animal to suffer and die to spite his ex is beyond evil. No animal should ever be tormented like this.

I had an old my baby fluff, knew words on flash cards all his clothes and relatives, got when 2.5 lbs, got to 12 lbs, last rabies shot 16 his last until then he still got out his clothes and played. Down hill fast, the meds needed very expensive and on going, I was a year calling, begging Anyone to take him give him 2 more years Bichons can live a long time, and he was such a joy, my heart aches for him. Someone finally said yes, but that wasn't their intentions, it seemed, although my boy was pretty down after a year of begging. He even still tried to play our mirror game, he was way down in weight. Growing up had dogs and they loved me, always go to my room,... And I loved them dearly, but this boy came good and a clown, the love of my life. It didn't help that people many, decided I didn't need what I'd worked for was working towards.

Why have we not implemented strict & harsh punishment for animal cruelty/abuse? It is unacceptable & no excuses. Take the animal to a shelter if you can no longer care for it.
This is why we must demand a national registry! So many people like this should not have the right to have an animal ever again! Just think of how much abuse and neglect could be eliminated with a national registry. Laws also need to be changed to harsher punishment for neglect and abuse. Animals are not property, they are family!

That’s one of the worst things about this case. Yes neighbors heard him barking and crying. In my honest opinion they are just as bad for not knocking the door down. In the interview I said “people are not paying attention”!

I am shocked and heartbroken. He should have received a longer sentence. Tank received the death penalty, although he did nothing but love his owner. 😥😥😥😥

It's frustrating how common this actually is. Trashy people move, leave their pets inside and don't look back. Sometimes they're found days later, hungry and confused. Sometimes nobody gets there in time. We adopted a very sweet gsd mix who was left behind like that. Can't believe somebody would trap such a charming girl in a house like that. But she was lucky it wouldn't be months later someone opened the door.
Right and sorry I’m just getting around to reply. For the most part it’s the poor and uneducated I deal with the most. Not necessarily bad people. It really takes a certain type of POS to do something like this.
Maybe Eldridge should be locked in a room for months without food too.

Society has been abandoning animals for as long as it's been around. We do it to our pets on a daily basis... almost as much as we abandon the people around us.

This is great, they need to be held accountable. These animals have feelings just like we do, they hurt just like we do. If you can’t take care of it don’t get one. Simple as that. I love our fur baby can’t imagine doing something like that. He should have been given more jail time .

This, animal welfare cases are the base of all the issues for making a real modern society.. If you think about it.. This is the time when human animal become aware of the deviancy in it's own specie.. We had no natural enemy for long time and we made everything unbalanced.. There are too many people being cruel to animals. On the opposite side my family has a problem rescuing and bringing home animals. Including myself.
