I played this quite a bit back in the day, but I'm not sure I actually knew about the flag collecting. Playing it recently, I found I was a bit better at it than I was back then. I also found that it's a game that holds up pretty well today as the sprite scaling effect is pretty smooth for a C64 game and without the need to take corners, the lack of analogue controls is not as noticeable.
