Love your dad Rhys , very enigmatic , I can see now where you got your skills from..a great companion to go fishing with.look after him, .I wish my old man was still here
Only just catching up to this one - another great video, filmed at my late father's favourite fishery and the video released on what would have been his birthday. Thanks for uploading and bringing back some great memories of my own of Garnffrwd. Cheers!
Nice one Rhys, But I know who is best. And its always your Dad. I am sure over many years he has passed much knowledge over. Now where would you be without that. Nice one Dad. Champ. Take care both of you. Shaun.
Rhys.. Nice session at Ellerdine today. 6 fish including a spartic and a blue. 4 on a cormorant, 2 on a pink tungsten nobbler. Between 1.5 and 3.5 pounds 5 last week on cormorants...all between 3.5 and 6 pounds . Would be nice to catch up with you are some stage.
really enjoyed the video, must be great to fish with your dad who is obviously a good fisherman, not sure about how a couple of the fish were returned though, but great video
Loved the family rivalry great video I've been using your tips and had my best day with 14 fish at a fisherie just outside of Belfast thanks to you love the content keep them coming
Another great video Rhys. Do you know why brook trout are called Spartic trout in your neck of the woods? Just a bit of curiosity from here across the pond.
Thanks Devin. It's called a spartic because it's a purposeful hybrid cross between a brook trout and an arctic char. There's a market in the UK for pursuing the more rare species like marble ,tiger, blue and spartics. So naturally, fisheries have catered for it👍
Great video as usual, with regards to your mint floater your using is it the same line rating as your rod or one size heavier? The reason i ask is i normally use a peach floater 444 and since reducing from an 8 weight rod to a seven fast action. I purchased a 444 in a #7 and it is far too light for the rod. My old #8 444 line loads it perfectly but sadly its many years old and at the end of its life so before buying the mint i thought i would ask. Cheers
Hi Rhys just seen the video of the fish off between you and your dad Brilliant i have noticed in some of them you use your own bungs could you make a short video on you put them togeather
Hi mate just a quick question is your dad using an airflo super stik mk2 ? Been looking at getting a couple for fishing from the boat. If it is one could you let me know what he thinks of them ? Cheers !
He is josh. Its a good rod for subsurface work (fast intermediates/di lines) and its quite stiff so does literally feel like a stick in your hand. Better suited to the subsurface methods than gentle floating line methods 👍

Really enjoyed that Rhys, nothing like a duel! Thanks to both you and Jeremy 👍
Never heard of a spartic, is that like a brook trout ?
Love these video's. Especially in lock down again.
Spartic is a hybrid of a artic char and a brook trout
Great video. I metJeremy a few weeks back at the fishery. First time visit and will go back. Nice spot there
really enjoyed the video, must be great to fish with your dad who is obviously a good fisherman, not sure about how a couple of the fish were returned though, but great video
Great video definitely do more like this
Brilliant video. When me and dad go fishing its always a pound for the most fish.
That'd cost me a fortune against the old man😂
@@RhysFishes 🤣🤣 we normally tie if I'm honest with a total of 0 fish... I always say fishing is like making a baby trying is fun
Great quality videos!
Great video well done rhys! Great angling by both!!

Brilliant video Rhys, kind of reminds me of me and my old man except we don't catch the fish. 🤣

@@RhysFishes thanks for the clarification. We have similar programs for tiger trout, splake, and cuttbows here.
@@tacticalflyfisher3817 It's really interesting how some hybrids and breeds in the US like the cutthroat have never made it across the pond.

With the cortland lines they're pretty well matched for the rating. I use a 7 line with a 7wt rod👍
@@RhysFishes thanks 👍
Better to see for little bend in the rod weather it comes after going 1 or 2 weight higher
Cheers Rhys

Really enjoyed the fishing and the banter but did not like the way fish were thrown back into the water.
Great to see you both having so much fun brilliant guys 🎣🎣 tit for tat all the way 👍
Can someone tell me what a spartic trout is. Because to me it just looks like a brook trout.
Its a hybrid cross between a brook trout and an arctic char
