  • Through the Initiative for Sustainable Landscapes (ISLA), IDH - The Sustainable Trade Initiative aims to restore and conserve 60,000 hectares of the South West Mau Forest in Kenya by 2030. The Initiative aims to achieve this goal by installing and maintaining a forest buffer with regulated access to the forest for communities and livestock, replanting degraded forest area and creating tree nurseries.

Why is a tea farm in the middle of the forest. That tea farm needs to revert back to the govt and the proceeds used for reforestation and for the people living around the forest to take care of the forest by hiring them in forest activities

Yes indeed, we only use indigenous species for tree-planting. South West Mau, where our program operates, is an indigenous forest.
