Dimash has other "simple" songs and I have heard the same statement from others vocal coaches reacting to these songs: "He does what the song needs". Don't forget he is a musician and uses his vocals as an instrument. Dimash is not just a singer with a magnificent voice. He is well grounded and reflects an integral vision trough his artistry.
This could be called Kazakh rock, it's really unique in exactly what sounds are combined. Other songs in this genre are Keil Meken, Qazakstan and perhaps Golden 2021.. Also interesting is Elim Menin, very masculine and patriotic music. If you haven't watched Samaltau from Tokyo Jazz Festival 2020, that is also amazing.. The song 'Durdaraz' by the Kazakh poet-improviser and composer Eshniyazsal Meidimululy (1834-1902) He was one of the most prominent representatives of Kui in the country. This folk song has a very lyrical text, but Dimash sings it in his native language very powerfully, almost in a fighting manner. The dombra is a traditional Kazakh instrument that is also recognized as the national instrument of Kazakhstan. Dimash plays (as do many Kazakhs, I’m told!). Always love your laid back approach to reactions. A good balance between admiration and respect for the artist and analysis of the technique.
Dimash could also play the dombra along with the musicians, but he is not there to ‘show off’. Plus he likes the musicians and dancers (when they are there) to get their credit too.

Today the dombra is a national symbol of the Kazakhs and Dimash said every Kasacian child learns this instrument. In many legends the heroes of successfully made use the ability to 'communicate without words: 'In spite of his father's prohibition the khan's son secretly went hunting. He met a herd of kulans and wounded the leader. Infuriated, Lame Kulan killed the youth with a stroke of the hoof. After waiting in vain for the return of his son from hunting, the khan declared that anyone who approached him with that estirtu (bad news) would be executed by pouring molten lead into the mouth. No one dared for a long time until an old dombrist (a person who plays the dombra) attempted. The sorrowful tune of the kyui was able to send this tragic message across to the khan. He ordered that the molten lead be poured into the dombra. That was how the opening in the upper sounding board of this musical instrument came about.
