Holdens we're never imported to the United States we made our own cars here, but only in the recent 90s and 2000s have we gotten a few body designs from Australia, the Monaro sold as the GTO, and in the 90s the Commodore sold as the Cadillac Catera here in the States but basically Australia never had their own car Holdens are body designs from GM Opel of Germany and the same car is sold in England as the Vauxhall they are the so called world cars to cut down on the budget but shipping dies and stampings to other countries to market the base car under another name but here in the States GM only built the you see here for the US/ Canada market so a Vega/ Astre is Chevy here, nothing to do with Holden at all
Awesome job tuning that car... Wish I was there. True old school racing, maybe I'm wrong ?!? didn't look too hard but, I didn't see computer s*** anywhere???!? I have a 72 notchback Small block
It all adds up when you build everything to handle the power. I have a 75 that's about 3175 race weight (I'm about 200 of that). This winter I've been working on shaving some of that off. We'll see what the scales and the timers say in about a month
It’s actually a bit heavy somewhere in the past somebody made a square tube frame for it that’s kind of heavy and the big block / lenco combination is pretty heavy so it’s up in the 3000 pound range I don’t remember the exact number
I’m bringing it in for paint in the next week or two and we’re going to dyno the engine so I’ll put up some videos we won’t see much track time till May

Very cool build. H-bodies are getting pretty rare these days. Crazy since these cars used to be everywhere

It does have an MSD grid so we do plug a computer into that to set the two step and ignition retard and that’s more than enough computers for me
Cool old school car.
Thank you sir we’ll be putting up some videos with a cool old school paint job on it over the winter
so freaking cool
Love it!! how much does the car itself way?? I'm guessing 2,300 pounds..
It’s pretty heavy actually 3100 with the driver

Is it just me or does the change into 4th gear drop the motor a little too low in its rpm?
It could use a bit taller third gear but back order like everything else
What the hell is he grinding on the starting line. He needs to shift coming out of the water. He's barely getting the slicks hot.

Other than just liking the dual carbs…… no way does that car need dual carbs. I’m pretty sure it would be faster with one carb.
We haven’t tried it on this but on other cars the tunnel rams are better

We have a new double adjustable front coil over setup ready for this spring and we plan to soften it up a bit and the rear is also adjustable
Also what we forgot to show was we did play with shocks as the day went as I’m sure you can see between the last video and the first one!
That is not a vega. It's an pontiac.
It’s half Pontiac
Needs bigger carbs. Lol.
