The master of all fish breeding on youtube with a video on one of my top favorite fish again.... didnt even saw the video yet but im surely going to enjoy it. Thank you for this.
Hi Mark I've said before that I've never been into saltwater fish keeping but too me it's all fascinating bringing little eggs to life 🐠 brilliant thank you 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great video mate💪 Are you planing to do a update on the L46 plecos? I really like you content☺️ You were one of a few Guys that inspired me to start the hobby and to start my own chanel😁 So i really appreciate you and your videos.
Hello mark. I have moved my fry from main tank to hatch tank. It look as I have had a few hatch but not a lot. Do I leave them to see if the rest hatch. Do I turn the dim light on so the ones that have hatched can hunt the rotifers
Love your breeding videos. Your camera work is superb. I find it's easier to move the eggs. I use small terra cotta pots. Just switch egg one for a clean one. Moving the parents can disrupt their breeding cycle for months.
I've had my clownfish for about 3 years now but I cannot seem to get the female to have eggs. Is there anything can do to maybe influence this? I feed a combination of baby brine shrimp and Hikari pellets 3 times a day.
What do you feed them to condition them for spawning? I have a pair in a 20 gallon reef, do you think they can protect the eggs from a coral banded shrimp. I hate to pull them out of the reef into a separate tank.
For your separate baby clownfish tank. Could you get your water from the established tank and put them in there immediately or should you run the tank for 3 months before?
What’s the salinity , water temperature, and lighting schedule ? light always blue? What to feed the breeding pears and how often do you do water changed ? And how much you take out from the tank?
I have a question. I have aquariums for breeding clownfish. Could I add 70 liters of 2 lysmata wundermani shrimp with a pair of clownfish to the aquarium? Will the shrimp interfere with the spawning of clownfish?
So problem I have is my clowns are an established pair they been togeather on their own now for around 5 years constant looking like the about to lay but never actually lay eggs any advice ?? Thanks
I gave up marine fish keeping because it was so hard to keep anything that eats alge alive. The suplyers around us all were wild caught and they all used the chemical methods to catch them. That's what needs breeding the most the things that help keep the tank cleaning even the snails dead after 3 months. Water was always perfect just an empty tank with clowns, cardinal fish and cleaner shrimp.
Hello, I have been wanting to setup a saltwater tank for awhile now. I want to keep a pair of clowns in hope to breed them one day. What size tank do you have? Also do you need a wave maker, protein skimmer or any special lights for just clownfish?
I live next to an ocean and there are no local fish stores near me that sells rotifers, is there an alternative for feeding the clownfish fry if somehow my clownfish pair breed?
quick question when breeding them do they need to be alone in the tank or can i put them in the same tank as a couple other marine fish? btw good video, its helping know what to do and what not to do when it comes to caring for a clownfish
HI , My clownfish is laying eggs every 15 days once since 1 year. But the problem i face is i don't get rotifier or copepods in the market. I can only get the brine shrimps by hatching. Is their any solution to raise the fries ?
I have a pair of Fiji Devil Damsel fish that are a breeding pair. But I’ve never had a pair of breeding fish before. Can you please give me some advice on how to be prosperous at raising fry?
If the fish are happy and well fed they will breed. The thing all tiny fry need is live micro food like rotifers. You can buy starter cultures online and their fairly easy to breed all you need phytoplankton which will come in the kit. Lots of videos on how to do this. The hard part is timing and having spare aquariums for the fry after hatching.
Hi mark can please help me to breed l046 . I don’t how work out water conditions. At moment i am adding RO WATER N Some tap water i don’t add nuffink els is it right ???
Would this also be applicable to the different colour Clown Fish? And would you be able to go over sexing these please buddy? I have read a few conflicting story’s on these more complicated sexing due to the changing etc.
CF sexing is easy. If you are purchasing a pair, buy the largest and smallest. They all start out male and one in a group will turn female. Females are larger. The largest in a group at the LFS is most likely already turned female.
I was wondering if you could help me out. I’ve got a pair of clowns who have only been together for a few days. The boy we’ve had for about 3 weeks I am fairly sure he’s still a juvenile and the girl came from an established tank where she’s lived alone for a few years with a trigger fish. Backstory done. The very first day I put them together he was doing this dance for her. And then the next morning I found a clutch of eggs on the glass of the display tank. They are all white except one which is dark. Day 3 now. I’m growing baby brines for them just incase but I think it’s an infertile clutch. Both parents especially the boy are constantly tending the eggs. Being that they’re on the glass I can’t take them out... but moving forward, would it be best to set up a spawning tank for this pair? Will they be likely to spawn again soon? Are the eggs white because I have a young male? Or? Are the eggs fertilised after laying or before?
Healthy eggs are salmon pink when layed then will get darker as the week progresses. By 7 to 10 day's you will see all there little eyes. Baby brine shrimp are no good for a first food they need rotifers for the first 6 to 10 days ok.
So would the colour of the eggs be because of the female? I have been googling this a lot but all I can find is that white eggs are infertile and or fungus covered but since I know they were laid white I very much doubt fungus. Is this something you’ve seen with young fish? I have set up and am cycling a nano for them. I’ll feed them up on the brine I’m growing as well as the mysis and some pellets. I figure good rounded nutrition is very important to reproductive health...
fish shop clownfish are normally 6 to 8 months old, so for the female it will be another 18 months maybe a bit sooner . The Males can breed from six months old .
Hi Mark, 2 clown pair lovers just legging eggs in my tank on a rock. Can i drain the smal baby clowns out in to a smal tank after 9 days ?? And can you tell me how you make your macroplanton ? I like to try it . :-)
You'll have to get a culture of rotifers from ebay and a bottle of phytoplankton to feed the rotifers ok. Watch my other videos on breeding them i show you how it's done.
@@MARKSAQUATICS ive never tried to get them to breed, my mate said put a flowerpot in , or would it help taking the other clownfish out , because two seem to be together more and the one seems left on his own ?

If the eggs are not fertile they will go bad and the parents will remove them. If fertile after a few days they will go a darker colour and you'll see their eyes shining away.

Very true. But the female might still reject the male and you may have to introduce a new male.
