I was able to spawn and raise some clownfish once. Was a lot of work at the time due to my setup then, but I could see how if you wanted to do it often you could definitely simplify and streamline things.
Yes it is a all or nothing deal for me. The time and effort keeping rotifers alive and phytoplankton alone for just a spawn once in a while. My rearing rack(for post meta fish) has been a life saver
Fascinating video, full of great advice and tips, will be keeping this video as a valuable reference for breeding and raising clown fish. 👍🏴 I’ve liked and subbed. 👍
With the larvae tank at 80 degrees do you what temperature do you keep the reef tank and if it’s lower how do you not shock the eggs when you move them from the tank
The initial water added to the hatch tank doesn't need to be cycled? Also, how many days in advance does the hatch tank need to be set up and ready to go?
Really no need to cycle the water. It will not hold a cycle without a filter. I would set up larvae tank up atleast a day before to make sure everything is stable.
few questions.....i noticed you completely covered the tank with black plastic. how do you get away with not allowing gases to escape? I can only assume you don't do any water changes during this time? How long do they stay in that tank before you move them to another tank? How long can they go before the water becomes toxic?
Would this set up work if i pulled the pot on day one or two as the parents keep eating the eggs around day five , they have been spawning regularly for 4-5 months
can we able to see rotifers in our eyes ? If I collect sea water, Is there a chances to get rotifer sample ? I don't get the rotifers available at my region.
Great information! Thanks. My Clowns just spawned for the first time. Needless to say I'm very excited but totally unprepared. In the future I'd like to raise a batch. One problem; the eggs were deposited on the base of a massive leather coral they host in. Anybody have success in removing the eggs using a siphon?
what age is it safe to move fry to grow out tank and what is the best method ? I tried at 20 days with net and like you have said they have heart attacks and fall dead !
Best video on UA-cam about the process I've came across! Great work guys, looking forward to following along with more videos
Very informative thank you. My clowns of 3 years just laid eggs so am trying to setup a hatchling tank.
Excellent vid. Bunch of knowledge. Thank you.
Can’t wait for nest steps. Keep up good work.
And for teaching.
Your welcome, hope it helps!
wow this made me confident in hatching my clowns eggs just picked up a pair and the male is already cleaning a rock next to where they sleep at night
Awesome video! Thank you for sharing.

excellent video
Can I just remove parent fish from the tank and cover with plastic the tank
This was a great video! What about raising rotifers themsevles? Oh...I see you have a video on that already. Thanks!

after they hatch when do they require food ? Wondering if they have egg sacks that they use first ?
They do have yolk sacs. It takes larvae a couple days to fiqure out hunting. I feed the morning after hatch.
@@JNAQUARIUM Thanks for the help ! Still struggling with rotifers but also going to try copepods ,
@@anthonyc5362 you will not be able to produce enough small size copapods to do it
Please make a detailed video
Wow what a video ❤
did you have to cycle the hatching tank?

Please re watch
It is only completely covered for hatch night
@JNAQUARIUM - just curious, getting all details in case my clowns ever lay eggs. That's very awesome to see. Glad it worked out. Thanks for the video

Not well, it is much better to leave them with the parents

I don't get the rotifers available at my region.
You would need a microscope to confirm it is rotifers
@@JNAQUARIUM any cost effective microscope do you suggest ?

I have the eggs on the back glass of my tank. Can I just scrape them off with a razor and add to larvae tank?

I ussually move them at 30 days
@@JNAQUARIUM T hanks for the help !
Great video! I looked forward to this video! Next will be "How to do a waterchange"? :D
Thank you! We will see what the next video is👍🏻
Hi do you have any advice as to how can I transfer the eggs into a hatch tank when the eggs have been laid on the bottom part of a rock
I moved the eggs to the fry tank. Does it need light as well? Or only once after they hatch?
They need complete darkness to hatch. You should do more research on there lighting needs.
When do you take eggs from main tank? 8-10 days after of the first laying eggs?
How often do you do water changes and how much at a time?
Thanks, I do the same but I only get about 20fries, do not know the reason why.
not sure why either. There are so many variables' hard to pin it down sometimes
👍🔥
So you guys didn’t use any water from your fish tank?
Correct. I just make sure the salinity is the same
@@JNAQUARIUM thanks for getting back so fast!!
👍 👍
❤️❤️❤️❤️👌👌👌👌
hi, how would you know if your rotifers are alive? can you send me a close up video of rotifers ,and also i can show you my rotifer culture ? thanks
I thought they layer eggs in the anemone
