We are not refueling, we are loading cargo, bulk cement, blown with air into the ship and it takes about one or two days. Refueling depends on the amount of fuel you take, a few hundred tons or a thousand tons will take from a few hours to one day. Refueling is a sensitive business and requires the attention of the whole crew, shore leave will be not possible, mostly done on anchorage. The fuel is spread over several tanks and has to be constantly monitored, usually manually by sounding tapes on each tank. Valves have to be shifted very quickly.
