This came for free with my HP desktop back in the mid 1990s. I played it a ton and never understood what the point was, but it was really silly and fun. In the pre internet computer days it was the king!
I remember when I was in the 5th grade, my dad and I bought this at the 99¢ store, we thought it looked funny, but the box wasn't anything suggestive...fast forward a few hours I'm putting it into the 'family computer' with my mom standing behind me...lol 'Spot the Loony' is the weirdest game to play in front of your mom...true story. Needless to say my mom freaked and the game went in the trash, I always wondered what else there was to this game. 😆
I used to play this on my lunch hour at my internship back in the 90's. I even made it to the hidden rollercoaster! Never got to the end of the game though- that rollercoaster was hard.
Great game, I used to play it all the time. Shame that you didn't capture the ACTUAL game (which I didn't know about, until I played it for months...). You have to finish 7 difficult mazes, BUT you first have to find the mazes! I've only found those in the 'spot the loony' one and in the exploding TV room... Srsly, this is one of the most difficult games ever. :D
Me too! While I love Monty Python, and the show(alongside LucasArts adventure games) formed the basis of my sense of humor when I was very little, that scene with the couch and TV gave me seriously screwed up nightmares for some reason. It's actually one of the main 'default' images in my mind of "scary, creepy stuff" because of those nightmares. Same thing with Nightmare Before Christmas, despite how much I generally enjoy spooky visuals.
Gwen C I think one of the most frightening things about this in general is how the very fuzzy audio plays and always ends to complete silence. I guess they could only play one noise at a time but the lack of ambient sound is unnerving to me
I bought this game and tried my very best to beat/finish it. I ended up frustrated and putting it away for good. About a year ago I was cleaning out my childhood room closet and came across it and suddenly realized it WAS a complete waste of time! The joke was on me! I had a good laugh🤣🤣🤣🤣
I remember playing this some thirty years ago. I doubt the game would work anymore on modern computers. We're a far cry from Windows 3.0 I fear. Oh well. It was fun decades ago. I feel so old.
Huh....... I distinctly remember a portion of this game that involved navigating a first-person maze - *very* similar to the underground tunnel portion of "Myst". Every time the tram stopped, Eric Idle would tell you which way to turn (and get confused). Where'd that go??
I remember playing this... But I don't remember how I played it. Maybe it was on a demo from Battle Beasts? I don't know. I seem to remember it scaring me for some reason.
@@gloriabroyles4198 collectionchamber.blogspot.com/2016/05/monty-pythons-complete-waste-of-time.html This has it all bundled up and complete with a "go" button
I remember playing through this once with a strategy guide, quite involved as I remember.... the Meaning Of Life game was infinitely better though, in spite of its flaws.
Suddenly realized the guy who voiced the Spot the Looney host did the voice for Rincewind in the Discworld point n click game. I feel like I should know his real name :^/
I missed the screensaver! Did anyone EVER finish the game? Winbloze 95 broke it. grumble, bitch, moan I miss flying toasters too.. ahh, when we had choices...
seeing this game as a kid induced the first nightmare I can remember having. dreamed that the hideous bobby with the black beady eyes was devouring my brother limb-by-limb while talking in a silly english accent.
I played this game so much when i was a kid. Good times.

Voice actor and comedian Maurice Lamarche (Pinky and The Brain, Futurama) had a hand in creating the sound effects and extra voices in this game.
This was actually my introduction into monty Pythons world.
So was mine! My dad had this game and me and my brother mostly played it, such funny memories!
Mine too
Me too. My Brother and I were introduced to the World of Monty Python with this PC Software back in 1995 28 years ago.
what a fascinating bit of digital curiosity.
Wow, I haven't seen this game in almost 30 years.
Thank you so much for a trip down memory lane!

Wow! As a huge Python fan, how did I miss out on this gem?
I didn't want to watch this video anyway.
I wanted to be... a LUMBERJACK!

@@sprouting_lady oh my god the same scene gave me nightmares as well
I think I only had the demo for this game but I replayed the game over and over again back in the day. I loved playing the lumberjack song a lot.
Yeah, same here. Just the demo was hilariously strange
I pissed off my dad so much when I set the keyboard to fart with every hit of the key. lol
I've played this game before I even knew who the Pythons were.. great memories of early childhood..
I remember playing this as a kid! Especially liked the Exploding TV Room.
there is something truly terrifying about this game.
had this as a kid. No clue what monty python was at the time but I always found this interactive game cool.
I could never figure this game out....but that was probably the whole point
"Hello! This is Help! But I'm afraid you didn't say please! So back to the game!"
Lol, this thing has lived rent free in my mind for 30 years.

you never once entered the secret roller coaster maze.
I think you might have missed the actual "game"
R.I.P. 7th Level, Inc.
I felt one of their games, Battle Beast, deserved to become really popular.
Played this as a kid without even knowing who Monty was lol!
Since I think Monty Python is both awesome and hilarious, I think that their "Complete Waste Of Time" PC Game was defiantly a great one! 🤘😎😂🤣😁😉👍
God dammit, this was the weirdest and scariest game I've ever played. It was part of my Arcade America game either...
@Zachary Gaballa Looks like something David Lynch would make if he were a game designer.
I remember playing this some thirty years ago. I doubt the game would work anymore on modern computers. We're a far cry from Windows 3.0 I fear. Oh well. It was fun decades ago. I feel so old.
How can I forget my childhood.
oh god....I remember this game all too much.

One of the first CD games I ever bought. Pretty funny and great graphics but that damned tunnel! I could never make it through.
What tunnel? Do you mean the corridor.
I had a demo of this game and Arcade America! :D
Hewy Toonmore 13:02 why is there no marker drawing effect.s
Eric Idle, who is Monty Python alumni.
Oh blimey! I'm wasting my time watching this! Quick! No time to lose!
OMFG!!! l just remembered the Monty Python PC game/ that i had on my HP Pentium ll PC It was the greatest waste of time in history!
whoop.. we're at "SPOT the LOONEY" again! *kashnortles*
Oh I remember this! Good times!
The Nostalgia Critic sent me.
What is the episode ?
This game always unnerved me as a kid.
I remember playing this... But I don't remember how I played it. Maybe it was on a demo from Battle Beasts? I don't know. I seem to remember it scaring me for some reason.
Oh i had that too! The Demo had some weird ass pong looking game, Tuneland and this on it!
I loved this! can we actually play it now with our pc and mouse?
You can play it if you install Windows 3.1 in DOSBox. Virtual machine with Win 95/98 might also work, but I'm not sure.
thanks

It will still run in WinXP but the living wallpapers don't work properly. Also, you should copy the whole CD to the HDD. It runs better.
“I came in here for a waste of time”
“No, you came in here for a COMPLETE waste of time” 😐
Eric Idol man, classic Monty Python that,

This game was a complete waste of time - 5 stars!
@1:48 - Every time I play that the guy says I have to try harder or it's too early! What are you supposed to hit in this game?
