Nice Unboxing Mark! Really cool that you got both personal and business versions so you could compare them for us side-by-side *ahem*, I mean, get your free night certificates back to back 😃
I got this card about 1 month prior to the revamp, I have to say I like the old design better. Everyone was still converted to the new benefits obviously.
@@MarkReese I just checked my card and its plastic haha. Interesting to note the metal chip and tap to pay are on opposing sides of each other on my card, and on the same side in yours. Do you use your cards for any other purchases besides at IHG?
Came to this video after you posted the new 175k bonus. Im torn between Hilton and IHG. Never stayed in a Hilton Property but have at a IHG Crowne Plaza. They treated me like royalty when I was there. This might be my next card for this year. If I pull the trigger Ill use your referral link. ☺
The Chase 5/24 rule does affect the IHG personal card, I was told that I could not be approved because I’ve opened to many cards in a 2 year, 24 month period. Oh well 😂
I’m currently in Chase Jail (until about July of 2023). This card is currently on my radar once I get back into it. Other Chase products I’m looking at are the Chase Sapphire Reserve & the World of Hyatt card. I’m holding out on the Hyatt card to see if by miraculous chase they release a premium card. 🤞
"The construction of the card itself doesn't have anything to do with the benefits" ??? Sorry bro. Imma turn you back into 5/24 Jail. Can't have a lunatic running around out here who denies that having a metal card is the MAIN benefit of the card.
US Bank has sent me invitations 3 weeks in a row to apply for their Business and Personal Platinum cc. But I’m playing it safe. I need preapproval not invites lol
You can get both cards with both bonuses. If you get them at the same time, there's a chance one will get denied by the computer. If so, you'll have to call Chase's reconsideration line & see if it can be overturned.
This card has an interesting pattern for the chip contacts. I wonder how much thought goes into that. There's also 7 pads whereas most of my cards only have 6, excluding the Venture X and Savor which have 10. Weird
Dave Martinez - Chase still pulls your personal credit for small business card applications. I don't believe having an LLC helps get around the 5/25 Rule.
Question about IHG. Say you have enough points to book 4 nights somewhere but want to stay 7. Can you book 4 days with points and make a 2nd booking for the remaining 3 days in cash and pseudo combine them like it's 1 stay? TLDR can you sort of combine 2 different bookings for the same property so you don't have to check out \check in mid way through a stay potentially having to change rooms?
Mark I highly respect your opinion and trust your advice . I’m under 5/24 chase rule now and I’m undecided between their IHG and Hyatt card . If you’re just neutral and don’t favor one hotel over the other which card should I get ? I know Hyatt point is worth a lot more but IHG has a great signing bonus and they give you status and that 4th night free after using point redemption is very sweet . Thanks a lot !
If you have 0 preference between the 2 programs, it'll come down to which of these 2 things you value more: quality of hotels vs. # of hotels. I'd personally go for the Hyatt card because Hyatt properties tend to be nicer across all of their brands than IHG's. I prefer staying in nice hotels. However, Hyatt has way fewer locations than IHG, meaning they may not be where you want to stay (or if they are, there may be way fewer choices). So if you want to maximize the # of places you can travel to, then IHG would win easily.
How long did it take for your status to take on the ihg side? I got my business card approved on thursday, got the card on saturday. Honestly their weekend customer service call center is pretty bad :/ cant get a straight answer as to when that’ll happen on their end
Not able to say as I already had Platinum Elite status prior to getting the card ✌ Here's what the terms say: _"Please allow 6 to 8 weeks after account opening for the automatic Platinum Elite status to be applied to your IHG Rewards account."_

@@avillareal1 - Mine only shows the personal as well. I may have access to it later next week, but that'll likely be after the elevated offer has expired. I appreciate you asking though! Go get those 165K points!
Hi Jason - unfortunately no. No points from any program can be transferred into Chase UR points. It only works one way: from Chase out to other partners.
Chase to IHG = yes IHG to Chase = no. Be aware that on average for hotel stays: - 1 Chase point = 1.25¢ value - 1 IHG point = 0.5¢ value Almost a guaranteed big loss of value transferring from Chase to IHG. Exceptions can exist, however. Gotta do the research / itinerary planning + cent-per-point math first.
One question about the entire credit card industry the never seems to be talked about is are there other factors outside of a persons individual credit file that affect approval? Are items like zip code, state or ESG items built into the algorithm?
Great video Mark! The 40k anniversary night is a great benefit. Do you know if it's under a use it or lose it system? So like, if you want to redeem it for a room that is 35k points, will you lose or keep the remaining 5k points?
A nice benefit for sure! It's only valid for 1 night, and if you don't use the full value, then any remaining value expires immediately. Example: A 35K night would use the full certificate (which is "up to" a 40K value). That said, you can combine the certificate with an unlimited # of points to redeem at higher-cost properties.
Cool video! Because of your videos I looked more into the IHG hotels and now plan to apply for the business card! I might look into getting both Premier cards this year to double dip the bonus too.
