A central theme in these practices is the development of the soul and the cultivation of the Christ Energy. They believed that Jesus Christ was the embodiment of the perfect being. The belief was that the goal of the human soul was to strive for this. Love, compassion and service to others are primary tenants, this is how practitioners are tolive their life. There is a focus on our spiritual significance, and a rejection of the importance material reality. Esoteric Christians are not focused on the life of Christ here on earth, but instead what Christ represented to humanity. Christ’s spirit was what made him divine. I would say Christ is at the centre of all of these teachings, even though it is not literally stated.
