Will rope get stronger if you soak it in glue?
It will get hard and stiff

Absolutely yes
Yes? Kind of. Rope already usually has a glue like substance in it to keep the fibers together
Romie Caswell If you soak me in glue, do you think I’ll get stronger?? 🤔😯😯
Hey tyler, you know when you're making the paracord blocks test and the weights start skipping in the chain links? Those little skips add force peaks that can weaken the glue and the material, adding another variable to your experiment. My suggestion would be for you to remove the weights and use a stainless steel hook on the ground, since then the maximum weight for testing would be almost unlimited. And it would also make the setup cleaner
And you don't get that dangerous whip effect when chain breaks, compared to any kind of cordage.
Wow nice! I see u learn a lot!
@@blackirish781 I know your commits like 3 years old but chains most certainly have a whip effect when they snap.
@@scottmontz6664oh well now. He doesn’t do those tests anymore. So sad.
I actually suggested this in the comments of two of your videos. I don’t know if you saw them or not but great video none the less!
This is why I love this channel. Did we need to know you could make glue with dog bones? No. But Tyler does it cause it's interesting and entertaining. I also love that this isn't high production or anything. It's just a dude having fun and messing around in his garage. So glad that UA-cam decided to recommend one of your vids a while ago.
Are you sad now? It is high production now and there is no garage anymore.

i totally agree, he should've clamped the clamps 😤😤
He should’ve clamped the clamps and then put a clamp over that ones clamp 😤😤😤
Grape that’s clampception right there
I use hide glue on a very regular basis. A couple things to note: you should really filter the glue, as small pieces of skin/collagen can cause inclusions in the glue line. Hide glue is a protein glue, which means that it only really bonds to other strands of protein, meaning you need to apply sizing coats to your wood and allow them time to “tack” before you apply your final coat. Hide glue is much stronger than most people think, and it’s more versatile than conventional glue.
Can you try pine resin glue (pine resin and charcoal) vs the rawhide glue
YES!! Do this please.
I don't know why. But I think this is the purest side of UA-cam. Truly refreshing

It's cooking with Tyler the best cooking show around, all the other cooking shows are for the "EATING" type of food completely underrated show you have

Any chance we can get more cooking with Tyler?
Idk why. But his vids showed up In my recommendations and now I can’t stop watching and idk why. Keep it up man
I always watch your videos before I go to bed bc they put me in such a good mood. They answer some questions I didn't know I had, you're funny so I get a good chuckle or two out of a lot of your videos, and the song at the end makes me smile so huge literally everytime I hear it. i understand that completly, i have youtubers i watch that do the same for me! thank you for watching! :)
Tyler this glue is used for making violins and other instruments in the string instruments. There are other older type items that this glue is used for because least a very long time. But the big thing is that high end violins are made with it.
Is this even real? Wow no words for how strong this stuff is.
Animal glue has existed since ancient times, although its usage was not widespread. Glue deriving from horse tooth can be dated back nearly 6000 years, but no written records from these times can prove that they were fully or extensively utilized.
The first known written procedures of making animal glue were written about 2000 BC. Between 1500-1000 BC, it was used for wood furnishings and mural paintings, found even on the caskets of Egyptian Pharaohs. Evidence is in the form of stone carvings depicting glue preparation and use, primarily utilized for the pharaoh’s tomb’s furniture.Egyptian records tell that animal glue would be made by melting it over a fire and then applied with a brush.
Greeks and Romans later used animal and fish glue to develop veneering and marquetry, the bonding of thin sections or layers of wood. Animal glue, known as taurokolla in Greek and gluten taurinum in Latin, were made from the skins of bulls in antiquity. Broken pottery might also be repaired with the use of animal glues, filling the cracks to hide imperfections.
About 906-618 BC, China utilized fish, ox, and stag horns to produce adhesives and binders for pigments.[8] Animal glues were employed as binders in paint media during the Tang Dynasty. Records indicate that one of the essential components of lampblack ink was proteinaceous glue. Ox glue and stag-horn glues bound particles of pigments together, acting as a preservative by forming a film over the surface as the ink dried. The Chinese, such as Kao Gong Ji, also researched glue for medicinal purposes.

@@Jan-mc3ee bro we don't need your copy and pasted generic wiki paragraph
@@Jan-mc3ee ignore the other comment, I truly appreciated the read. I never would've known this without your comment.
You'll stop having block failures if you stop drilling the holes along the wood grain. Go against the grain.
Or use harder wood instead off soft pine
@@Jtzkb both seems like the way to go.
“In case you wanted to do this at home” Tyler I don’t know about everybody else but umm I’m good😂
I'm totally trying this
Damn you put so much time into your videos; and not just a long time like streaming a video game for 8 hours, you spend a long time doing incredibly tedious repetitive tasks that would drive me crazy.
I still have no idea how you went all the way through with that duct tape roll. I would have quit as soon as I'd spend 10 minutes on it and realised I've got like 100 more rolls to do and keeping it perfectly straight was just going to get harder and harder.
Props man, youve got a lot of strength and determination. You could walk to the North Pole and back if you wanted to.
I feel like the flex glue had a slight advantage in the second test, the block for the flex glue had more wood on the supporting blocks than the raw hide did pulling the center of gravity further away causing it to fail prematurely. Maybe you should have a gauge that ensures that the blocks are placed in the same position every test?
I have alot of fun watching your videos and i admire the time you put into them.
14:52 There's an error with the kilograms! That's around 80 not 40.
Hide glue and bone glue have been used for centries and are still used in restorations of old art works. U can even buy them in crystalismzed form, in special stores for sculptors and stuff.
Why do you have such dull knives?
Tyler I appreciate you going through all of these experiments! I’ve definitely gained knowledge from your videos keep it going brother!
By the Year 2050 You will have used 1000 Trees Worth of Blocks
Or he cuts the last 1/8th inch off the end and reuse the boards lol
Jackals alrighty then Karen
From now on use bigger or denser wood blocks so their not the ones failing instead of the glue. If everyone stopped after failing experiments, nothing would be invented or discovered. Keep on experimenting!! Love the videos, you’re one of my favorites to watch on UA-cam now.
Wow. He clamped it. Very proud lmao.
you should try glueing the side grain of the wood, not the end grain; glues will not only work better but it might help with the block breakage 👀
tyler:
everyone in tylers comments: did you even keep them clamped all night? footage or it didnt happen
I don't think of this channel as an educational one - I think it's more entertainment based - but that video really made me learn potentially useful stuff! Good job Tyler 👍
Do the fiber fix tape test again but use metal blocks instead of wood
I love making rawhide glue it works wonders especially when used with sinu it makes a great type of natural fiberglass so to speak
Live primitive
I ate one of those dog bones with glue in them and it sealed my butthole

i always knew rawhide was bad for your dogs, but wow! This was insane! lol
This was actually really surprising!
Glad you showed the rawhide bone on the picture. I read the title before seeing picture and thought you were some kind of monster.
Why didn't you keep a lid on top of the pot to keep heat in and reduce water loss?
Look, no one ever said Tyler was a professional.
Bro just wanted to say you make great videos and have a great personality. Keep up the good work!
You should put a rope in the middle of the two by fours and put weights on the end and have the crane scale on the rope on the top.
That's Hyde glue, it's used in the construction of musical instruments. It's a reversible glue without damaging whatever your gluing, this is done by sticking a hot knife into the glue. A big difference between hyde glue and yellow wood glue is that wood glue will slide around under a lot of tension and pressure, where Hyde glue doesn't have that problem.
Didn't know it was also used in instruments. Thanks for the info. I've only used it for bows
At 5:30 it looked just like soup 😂
I have watch this channel grow into something much better. Keep up the work👏🏻👏🏻
Am I the only one that thought dogbones mean the bones of a dog
Nope lol
Nope I did too lol
Thanks Tyler! The back of my favorite old guitar (1960’s) came off (factory used hide glue). I am definitely using this (or maybe using Cow skins from an old bongo Head I replaced.
UNFAIR TEST - You didn't add as much raw hide glue to the second test actually you barely put any glue at all lol & on the contrary you put a lot more flex glue
Hey Tyler! When you did the flex glue 2x4, you put on 2, 25 pound weight and you said it was 40 pounds. So flex glue actually held 200 pounds. But this was entertaining as heck so good job!
why am i watching an adult play with dog bones?
This is the strangest video you’ve ever made. I love it.
did this with my cat when it died,
Very cool tastes just as good as elmers 10/10 would do again
I'm gonna try it on my live cat that way it's more fresher and tastier

I'm not surprised this worked so well...that's pretty much what glue is. Glue is usually made from the hides and bones or hooves of horses and cows.
Well to be fair you put a lot more flex glue and spread it better than rawhide glue

why do they still sell these things, theyre horrible for dogs. dont give them to any dogs
why are they horrible for dogs? I'm curious
So you can make glue out of them...
yo Alex nutritionally they have no value.
They also are know to chip a dogs teeth if he already has dental issues.
They (the bones) can also break and lodge in the throat/ intestines.
Sometimes dogs can chew on them and sharpen it to such a point that it actually punctures the gum line.
However, with supervision i see no harm in giving these to dogs every so often as a chew toy.
yo Alex they’re bleached or dyed synthetically and horrible for dogs there’s videos about how they make it
pretty much leather and glue and the dogs can choke on them :O
I really love your videos
It’s like project farm but you post a lot more frequently than him
Keep up the good work!!
Havnt watched this yet but seems interesting. 🤔
Animal protein glue. We use this to make sanding tubes for Dremels. Bosh buys them so if you own a Dremel with a sanding tube you have used this glue. Used alot in different kinds of sand papers and an insane amount of other applications. There are ways to make it better for sure. The use of this glue is a science and business actually hire R&D engineers to find the perfect ratio/heat/application speed/dry time/cure time.
Tyler stop calling it “flex glue” it is “tyler glue now.”
