Impressed ! The Vespid Bokeh at T5.6 is still round, Leica always has a hexagon shape.

Very impressed with how well the Vespids hold up at their price point. The vespids seem to lean slightly magenta in the shadows. But quite impressive.

Thanks for the comparison. Really impressed by the Vespids, particularly the bokeh, which looks truly gorgeous. Hoping to try these with a Z-Cam E2 F6

Saving it to watch later on bigger screen! Thanks

The Vespids seem to lean more magenta and have a stronger vignette. They do look nice, but there is something about the consistent warmth and flare look of the Leicas.

Did you need a speed booster or rails for the DZOs? If so what kind?
I would love to see the rig at the end of these videos to see what captured the image. Just a thought. Great video btw!

Awesome! Thanks for sharing the tests. I'm really impressed and how similar the Vespids render skin tones compared to the Leicas. Definitely an amazing bargain for the price.

Brilliant test dude 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. Any chance you can do a Contax zeiss MM vs Leica Summicron C please?

Thanks for watching! Unfortunately, I think that I won't have the chance to do a side by side comparison between Contax Zeiss MM and Leica Summicron C.

Great comparison. My results from analysing side by side screenshots:
Bokeh - DZO wins - more pleasing circles at f5.6. Leica gets hexagonal
Flare - Tie - depends on focal length. Leica wins at 50mm but DZO overall nicer rainbows
Fall off - both nice - DZO is softer fall off. Leica are contrastier
Colour - Leica feel nicer/ warmer. DZO are more magenta.
Character - Leica wins - hard to see here but being vintage glass = lovely imperfections
Sharpness - Leica hold up well against the newer DZO
Consistency - theoretically DZO as designed as a set whereas Leica you need to hunt down similar serials

Thanks for your comment. Leica Summicron Cs are proper cinema lenses and they are not vintage. They are not the photographic ones. The consistency should be the same in all focal lengths. They cost about 10 times more than Vespids and they can cover "only" Super 35 (Vespids can cover Vista Vision).

theses are Leica C not R. So many points are wrong on this

I have always found your work particularly your cinematography a league above others regardless of what camera you shoot on. I would love to know your thoughts on these lenses. To me the leicas are significantly better but I would love to know your thoughts and what you really think the vespids might be used and instead of what and incidentally what camera you prefer. Given your past camera choices and style the Komodo does seem a surprise choice to me but would love for you to explain a little more about why you have used it here but and whether it’s a camera you are now using. Thanks so much.

Ken, thanks for your kind words. Vespids are real, affordable cinema lenses that can compete, in many situations, with the "sacred cows". IMO, Summicrons are different, not better. I bought DZOFILM primes because I like them a lot. They can cover VV sensors, the circular bokeh is great (thanks to the 16 iris blades), they have a minimum if not non-existent focus breathing, they cost a fraction of the price of the most renowned high-end cinema lenses and, what is more important, they have character. In the side by side comparison I used the Komodo simply because I needed a good Super 35 camera, so Adcom guys asked me to use it for the test.

@@filippochiesa201 Filippo thanks so much for that. It all makes sense. Would love to know what would be your camera of choice. I have seen you shoot great work with many but is there a camera in the sub £15k or better still sub £10k that you rate. How would you compare the look of the bm ursa 12k say with the kinefinity or z cam lines?? I know you could probably get a great image of of most things but would be great to know your personal preference and why. Thx so much.

@@KenFlanagan there are a lot very good cameras on the market, we are spoiled for choice. The gap between high-end and the cheapest pro cameras is becoming less and less relevant. Ibrid cameras are the present and the future of filmmaking and the best one, IMO, at this time is the Sony A1. I own it and I really love it. I also own other great cameras (FX6, A7SIII, GFX100, GFX100S) and I use them for different purposes, but the A1 is the queen for many reasons. If I had to choose between the Ursa 12K, Kinefinity or ZCam lines,
today perhaps I would choose the new Mavo Edge, but I never tried it and this might be a long shot.

@@filippochiesa201 Out of you cameras you mentioned in this price range, why not the Komodo my friend? Seems to have nice motion cadence and DR.
