the bloke who owns it is right about it aging good too. normal people would think its a 2014 from the outside. an I honestly like the look of the srt6 with the lip and fixed spoiler.
Maybe the design needed to be changed or "watered down" a little. I think JC was right - the back end looks like a dog on the lawn doing its "business" in the grass.

The motorized mechanism For the spoiler in the back sounds like a motorized mechanism... *gasp! Lol I mean when you have to stretch like that to find something you don't like...
Considering the aircraft inspired design behind this car, and that you can hear flaps deploying on a lot of aircraft, I think it suits the car perfectly. It's not obnoxiously loud, but you can hear it if you listen for it.
'04 Crossfire owner here. Love mine. Bought it in '09 with 30k miles on it. Driven daily ever since. 150k miles on it now. Oil changes, tires, brake pads, shocks, steering damper. That's it, no major repairs. Can confirm, bad cupholder. Sure it's got it's quirks but it runs great and has been super reliable for me. I still get people that comment on how nice it looks and are shocked when I tell them it's 14 years old.
I'm a 93 300zx vert and 05 turbo Sebring vert owner. I'm into the weirder cars and so that's what I've done. I like the crossfire a lot and I've driven one. It's like the z32 where it's always overshadowed by other cars so no one pays any attention to it. The cup holder for both cars suck(no z32 cup) so I have to do a aftermarket one. They're all fun but people don't want to put up with them when they can just fork out the money and buy a Porsche or bmw. But 20 years from now they'll be worth a lot more.
Same! People can't believe how well it's aged! And me being younger combined with it having a magna flow exhaust, the first question I usually get asked is "how many tickets have you gotten in that thing?" LOL!
I really think that the Crossfire has timeless styling!! In 20-30-40 years, it will still look as cool as it did when it was introduced. I don't own one yet, but am looking at one this weekend!!
Is it weird to think that most Chryslers around these years were actually really reliable.. maybe not the PT cruiser as much but still I have an 07 300c with 96k and the only thing it needs is ac, and suspension
As the owner of two heavily modified srt6s, it's hilarious seeing the reaction of hellcat/corvette/porsche owners when the little car I spent under 15k on beat their car they spent 3 to 10 times as much on
I've owned a Crossfire for eight years and sixty thousand miles. Mostly trouble free and a fun drive. Embarrassing miss information on part of this review. Viewers beware!
Depends what needs doing. General mechanical components are Mercedes so they're easy to find but not overly cheap. Insurance isn't too expensive, tax isnt too bad depending on which model year you buy (avoid 2005 for this reason) and fuel economy isn't ideal but not Mazda RX8 levels of awful. Buy one now while they're cheap, get a cheap one but pay to get it restored, get a pricy one but make sure it's well maintained.
@@627pm I've owned mine for 13 yrs and I'm still crazy about her still to this day. The only thing I've had to replace it the RCM module that sits next to the battery, it melted beyond repair, causing my battery not to turn over. But it was 12 yrs old when that happened. They replaced it with a repurposed one which only cost me 150 dollars, not bad. A brand new one was almost 400. I've had the radiator hose system replaced and the serpentine belt only cause it was 12 yrs old and needed maintenance ,the price on that wasn't bad either. Personally my experience has been well worth the joy I get from my little car..
I have owned dozens of cars, everything you can think off. I bought an '04 Crossfire coupe with 71K for 6 grand. The best bang for the buck in a long time. Fun to drive, cool looking, reliable and love the six speed manual. Find a well maintained one at you will have a good fun car for years...undervalued.
Generic Memes actually yea, Chrysler hasn't given a shit about making good cars in years, I can only think of one good car they ever made in decades, the 300 SRT8
Axl 991 well the 200 was one of the best things, beyond that i still can't believe you said the SRT-8 300 was good. Edit: took a visit to their website, they offer 3 vehicles. A chrysler 300, a pacifica, and a hybrid pacifica.
Aussie2u Attractive when you're an idiot. It has nothing you'd buy a SLK for. No prestige, build quality is shit, parts are hard to get, horrible interiour, bad resale value.
I bought one in 2011 when i was 20 for 10k as my first financed car. I had a great time with it and it lasted me 42k miles. I had the crank shaft sensor fail which caused embarrassment at the stop light but taught me how to deal with car issues as a young adult. The crossfire forums had awesome support and i found a new sensor for 30$ on ebay and quickly fixed it with youtube videos and forum guidance. I also had to replace the alternator 3 times. I honestly to this day don't know why this car had so many alternator/battery problems but ill never forget walking to advanced auto in mid February to grab a new alternator and loosing feeling in my fingertips putting a new one in. watching this video makes me want to track down the person i sold mine to and buy it back. My friends all ragged on me for my "midlife crisis car" but i absolutely loved it and it was a blast to own!
I own a black '04 coupe w/64k miles and it's a great car. I bought the Eurocharged stage 1 custom tune and it made a huge difference; I believe it bumped the hp to 245, which ain't bad considering the car's weight is only around 3000 lbs. The only issue I've had so far is a nail in one of the tires, but that's just bad luck. I'm hoping the Crossfire will be a "collector" car in the not too distant future. I'm already seeing prices in the low $10k - $15k, even for a non-SRT 6.
You're insane if you think this transmission belongs in any kind of non-agricultural vehicle. It's a Mercedes gearbox to begin with, and they themselves wouldn't put it in anything besides trucks. Chrysler just said 'fuck it, nobody is gonna buy the manual anyways and it'll get us cool points with auto journalists to offer it'
UPDATE: this car is now undergoing light restoration and will be receiving some upgrades too in the near future. If you live in East Anglia, keep an eye out for it at car shows as I will be attending some with it.
My Crossfire turned 15 this week and it still looks nearly new and it's mostly been bullet-proof. I think it handles just fine and I suspect those samples could use new shocks. I replaced mine last year and it was like it was reborn! I get people asking me all the time what it is and they always assume it's some high dollar exotic. It's aged brilliantly (trying to sound like a Brit, here).
Out of curiosity, what do Porsche’s look like? They look like dogs doing poo too, but nobody seems to notice. I disagree, I think this car had a good design - but it’s not a Porsche.
How can you trust a man who drives on the wrong side of the road.? I have a Crossfire that I bought new and glad I did. Only dislike is the cup holder (which I quit using ) and the lack of a spare.
John S, stick a spare tire in the trunk.. Most cars don't come with a spare anyways.. OR call Roadside service... I have a separate plan from my car insurance called "Home & Auto" I love this plan & I love my 2005 Crossfire! 😉😎
The car was not built by Chrysler! Its a Mercedes SLK320 built at the exclusive Ghia plant. The only Chrysler thing is the re styled body. They handle excellent and the SRT6 flys! And it has 330 hp AMG hand built engine, again all Mercedes.
Built by Karmann in Osnabruck. Independent at the time, but now owned by VW. Karmann did work with Ghia, which is based in Turin, most notably on the VW Karmann Ghia sports car based on the Beetle.
This guy seems like he's just mad dramatic. Oh, and that steering column is from Mercedes, not Chrysler. You'd think this dude would have driven *any* Mercedes from the 90s-00s in his lifetime but apparently not. So you can blame MB for the low blinker stalk placement.
Brutus in all in all a rx-8 and a type r (in that order) then (either order) that is 230 bhp (rx-8) and 190 (ISH type r) no where near proper speed a crossfire would surely beat those piles of shit parson the language. But the rx8 gave to ring it's neck and the type r is the same.
@@jordankidd8789 I think you fail to understand the differences between the RX8 and this car. Sure it might win in a straight drag race, but take it to a track and the RX8 or type R would walk all over this car because of the better handling. it doesnt always matter about speed, if you cant take a corner well, ya aint gonna win the race on the track.
@@vulpinemachine no on a race track. Look it up. When they were new standard srt6s beat nismo 350zs. They are lateral 1g + cars. I am big into my quarter miles as there is an airfield in the city. I have raced and beaten gallardos and have even crossed the line an inch before a f430. As for corners i have 295 rears and 245 fronts and my passengers have nearly been sick with the cornering ability. There has been lots of magazine write ups praising even a standard cars cornering g force. My car has 440 bhp in 1400kg. That fixed wing on the SRT6 ruins the whole look, sadly. The standard 3.2L V6 seems to be quite easy to equip with a LPG fuel system, there a quite a lot of those. I was looking for one 2 years ago, but the price for units with less than 150.000 km on the clock over here was too high.

A few better but non of them were more fun - except my 1971 triumph GT6+.
A Crossfire owner here (1 month). Had just as many compliments about this car as I did with my brand new M3 f80. If you look on AutoTrader for Crossfires it's so difficult to get hold of one, they go in a day or two! I bought mine for purely for woofting about. And at 3k it's the sort of money I normally put down on a deposit on a car. As for the comment about a noisy spoiler!? Better put mine up for sale! Don't want to wake up the neighbours. Snore.
I remember the first time I saw a Chrysler Crossfire. It was 2007, I was 14, and suddenly this car pulls up in front of me. A Black woman wearing stylish oversized shades, spandex and high heels stepped out of the car to throw something into the garbage. I just saw this exotic looking egg-shaped car parked in front of me. It had gorgeous white rims and beautiful white paint. The woman got back in and pulled off, it all happened in less than 20 seconds. I was forever changed.
The 1st time I saw one was halftime commercial for Superbowl XXXVIII, 2004 Celine Deon is singing I drove all night. I feel in love and 2 and a half yrs later I bought one. I'm still driving it today. The commercial is on UA-cam if you haven't seen it.
SRT-6s have definitely held values rather well, the standard ones have taken a whack recently due to the market crashes but they’ll go up again, no doubt.
@@SpartanArmy117 I think we're going to discover there will not be many cars from the early 2000s that will stand out. A lot of companies were trying new things and only some pulled it off. They are rare, and so when you pull up its qute exotic. Yes i could get a CLK350 but this thing with a manual is the most fun little car i drove so far. Everyone is looking at you. Also the rear rims beeing bigger makes it a once of a kind art right there. The steering is the most typical mercedes ever as well as all the stocks in the car including the mentioned cruse control. Interior isnt as cheap as they say but it can squeek. I like that simplicity inside. The grey or white once are the most beautiful out there
I daily the crossfire on my channel, mod it, go to meets, all the car jazz and have definitely driven it properly. Comparing it to driving a 911 Carrera S, I’d have to disagree with a lot of points on the driving experience. Steering is definitely stiff and accurate and handles corners extremely well, not far from the 911. Also have taken 8 hour road trips and love how comfortable it is. Overall, I believe the car is very underrated but I hope to shine some light onto it with my channel. p.s. in regards to power, have no problem beating Gen Coupes & keeping up with 350s but other than that love your vids man and am honored that you took a look at our cars 🙌
9k you'd have to be simple in the head. Not a sports car, and not a GT, so what's the point? The cheaper none supercharged one, may be a decent £3k gt car, if you can put up with the plastics, that look like they are form a 2003 ka. Which is probably more fun to drive and cost you all £400 with a years MOT.
That's what I was thinking, think of the cars you can get for 9K and then compare them to the SRT. I did some reading and a lot of owners seem to think they are some sort of ultra rare classic LOL, hence the optimistic prices being posted online.
I think it depends on the location. I paid what'd be £2500 for a 2005 manual with 40,000 miles. I had to put new tires on but hasn't been too bad apart from that. You can find SRT-6s for as little as like £4500 over here which is a pretty good deal.
Stephen Butler I find it funny that people make fun of the interior on the Crossfire even though it’s ripped straight out of a Mercedes SLK. If this car was actually a Mercedes people would be heaping it with praise.
KentB27 i can't say I've ever been in or even been interested to look in this era slk. They was horrid little things. Real hairdresser looking things But youre wrong, a shit interior, is a shit interior. The badge doesn't magically make it a good one. Well as long as your not some type of fan boy or fashionista. They will say a turd is fabulous as long as it adorns the correct badge they follow. I don't care about badge or history. I'll judge almost anything, car included, on the product put infront of me.
KentB27 out of interest i went and searched some 2000 slk interiors. your correct, the SLK is defo on par with xfire. Sadly for merc, that's not a good 'par'.
The SRT 6 is a complete monster, and that’s looking at the marketed specs. The real HP is 349 out of the factory with a true 0-60 of 4.6 to 4.8 The only issues with these cars are the cup holders (absolutely horrible, I just removed the cup holder all together from my N/A) and the lack of aftermarket support.
Everyone hates the crossfire but praises the slk32 pretty funny I have multiple srt cars including crossfire will agree the steering feel leaves much to be desired but it’s great in the curves an that supercharger whine makes up for any shortcomings lol
This car is lighter than a nissan z and e46 bmw so wtf is he talking about, all you need to do is put sport suspension on it and it will handle as good as any other track car, the body is already extremely stiff, and with a few mods the srt6 is a low 11 sec car. And btw the srt6 has over 350 hp, they down played the numbers to not compete with the slk32
I’ve got one in a manual option and I can say the interior is quite basic but nice and the steering is amazing and the looks are quite good and the wing is good to hear because then it gets everyone in the passenger seats attention
I am beginning to think the Germans gave the UK drivers the worst of the lot while sending the best to the US.. Cheers for me! I own two now and they are amazing, both Sportster and Coup both Handle like they are rails and decent power and on longer trips averaged 30 MPG.

I've owned a Crossfire for eight years and sixty thousand miles. Mostly trouble free and a fun drive. Embarrassing miss information on part of this review. Viewers beware!
Thinking about getting one. Is the maintenance expensive?

The Crossfire was being sold for $20k off at the end of the run. When you consider it was an SLK derivative, that price made it extremely attractive.
Aussie2u Attractive when you're an idiot. It has nothing you'd buy a SLK for. No prestige, build quality is shit, parts are hard to get, horrible interiour, bad resale value.
Don’t sleep on the Crossfire! It’s actually really good driving, especially the supercharged one.
Where did you get the tune from?
I got a 05 myself
Don’t forget the rear wheels are bigger than the front which makes it ever cooler looking.

Chrysler Crossfire: The best way to acquire a manual box and put it in your SLK. Other then that, I can't see any other possible uses for the car.
Steve LaForce agreed, my cousin actually did this lmao
Then sold it to the junkyard for $500
Haha nice.
You're insane if you think this transmission belongs in any kind of non-agricultural vehicle. It's a Mercedes gearbox to begin with, and they themselves wouldn't put it in anything besides trucks. Chrysler just said 'fuck it, nobody is gonna buy the manual anyways and it'll get us cool points with auto journalists to offer it'
AD1 I'd still prefer this over an auto tbh, but that's coming from someone that does track days/auto cross
find this interesting because the new 2024 AMG GT Coup Looks very similar to a Chrysler Crossfire! The Chrysler Crossfire was Revolutionary.

@@UserUser-vo2ky I said Road Course. Idc about quarter. Subarus aren't quarter mile cars and that's a waste of a good car. Though I admit your building coming in under 10k is intriguing. I disagree, HOWEVER, everyone knows that ALL brand car developers take design styles from OTHER car makers.... #ALL! it's normal and it won't look exactly like another model due to branding and production rights!
Overall, I believe the car is very underrated but I hope to shine some light onto it with my channel. p.s. in regards to power, have no problem beating Gen Coupes & keeping up with 350s but other than that love your vids man and am honored that you took a look at our cars 🙌
pretty sure the indicator and cruise control was directly carried over from Mercedes.
My mercedes has the same layout
Real hairdresser looking things
But youre wrong, a shit interior, is a shit interior.
I like it!! Especially the grooves in the bonnet!! Coupé as well as convertible..!
It's a good car...
The SRT is only available as an auto, not good. I liked my Crossfire.
Recirculating ball steering system vs normal rack and pinion kills the steering feel. And on track, that's important
SRT-6 is definitely better to mod for straight line performance.
Conan Magruder you could swap in a m113 or m113k supercharged v8 too if you wanted
William Schuyler Absolutely will if get the time. Very cool that the documented builds are out there.
William Schuyler low 11 second car 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 with a lot of money maybe.
Also you don't seem to have ever driven a Mercedes mate - they all, until more recent years, had the cruise control and above the indicator. Speaking of, yeah that's Mercedes parts
If they only made the SRT-6 in a manual then I would consider
B..but I like it
It was my first car in GTA 5
Yahya Sajid same here!🙋
Enrique Morgado 🙏
Yahya Sajid its great in GTA 5!! Amazing handling!
Yahya Sajid GTA and reality are completly different. Rockstar just take inspiration on real cars for design
Guten Tschüss kinda missed the point as it was a joke and I know cars in GTA drive nothing like their IRL counterparts
The fact that you wouldn't buy one is a leading reason why I, and others bought one :o)
"If you buy a car simply because you like it, that's far more important than what other people around you say"
Truer words have never been spoken. I asked on Reddit about which engine is the best for an Eos (TSI or TFSI) And one guy answered something along the lines of "Avoid Eos at all costs, they're big money pits". And I was like "So?". If you just take proper care of your car, it shouldn't break. I don't care what that guy said, I'll buy an Eos before summer rolls around
I was only stating a fact, a car is an extension of one’s personality. Why buy a car that you don’t like and says bad things about you?
