Riding my Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports (DCT) since March 2018 and made 44'000km on it, i really love it. But now i can't wait to see and test the new 1100ccm version with all the new advantages, it sounds even better for long trips, as i use to travel. Another great adventure bike. Honda nails it again!
Looks great, but then again, so did the previous model. Also, when Honda introduce this model it means there might be some bargains to be had on the outgoing model which, is probably, all the Africa Twin I'll ever need.
I own a KTM 1290 SAR that I adore, however if I was looking now I would definitely consider the AT. The upgrades are everything everyone was asking for.

Very nice video MotoBob; great job 👍🏻 This improved Africa Twin 1100 seem awesome; lets hope Honda will create a smaller Africa Twin between 600-750cc (highly wanted by a lot of riders) for 2021. Lets Dream. Thanks again.
you can’t out engineer Honda. you can try and get close. but Honda always sets the bar for pragmatic style & design and quality & longevity above all others.
kyle stewart yeah, cause 6hp for a completely reworked engine with an extra 8% displacement is the pinnacle of engineering. Lol. This is Honda running scared from KaTooM. Except the 790advR is only down 5 ponies from this bike, despite nearly 300cc deficit, and the old AT was 80lbs heavier. Nope, can’t touch that engineering... because it’s 10 years in the past and manufactures have moved on.
Firestarter Honda doesn’t subscribe to the more power more better thing. Which is also why they are the most reliable bikes on the planet. If tech and numbers are important to you that’s fine, but buy the bike you want, not some numbers and tech on paper. You know what’s more important than all of that? Fit.
I need 1000 subs lol. You have zero empirical proof to back up any of that nonsense. Honda bikes have a proven track record of failure. CRF titanium valve coating was too soft and allowed for excessive wear. The fire blade engine was so horrendous in 2008 that they cut the bikes price from $13.5k to $8k just to sell them. Then there is the point I made about the bike being nearly 100lbs heavier. Funny how I mention chassis and engine design and you bring up a sad pathetic straw man argument regarding tech. Honda engineering is clearly behind KTMs. And a heavier engine on a high performance motorcycle places greater strain on other components making them more likely to fail.
Agreed ! I knew going in purchasing a 16 AT DCT that each consecutive year Honda would be releasing updated models as per there long term plan ! I will be ready in 2022 for version 2.0 ! Already have funds building for the day. Cheers
Think I'll start saving now. May have the bobs in 2 years time. I was torn between an XT 1200 and a Vfr1200 highlander but this probably pips them both. I'll be watching the reviews when it comes out.
Trading a GS for that?? Cause of a cruise control? Smart move lol... hold your pants everyone, new design GS is right around the corner and from what I heard it’s not some new plastic design add on...

The US market got screwed on the color schemes. “US colors for 2020 will be Matte Black Metallic only for the standard Africa Twin, while the Adventure Sports will come in Pearl Glare White/Blue. Europe will receive an additional 2 colors: Grand Prix Red for the standard, and Darkness Black Metallic for the Adventure Sports.” - ADV Pulse Both of the cool colors are only available in Europe
Looks sweet, does it actually come stock now with a actual dirt adventure tire mounted? Or is that just in the marketing pic's again? So they made it bigger but lighter, why didnt you make it smaller and even more lighter, then it would fit to be a great off road long haul adventure bike.
I own a Honda car and if the bikes are anything similar should be fairly reliable. Not sure about cost per ownership but I imagine much cheaper then bmw and maybe even ktm ?
OOOHHHH. More electronics. Apple apps. More riding modes. Wheelie control. Traction control. Euro5 emissions. They can keep it. Was almost getting excited over this bike.
I agree, I can just imagine apple in their true form, in five years saying this model is no longer supported. Disable the bike and tell me to recycle it lol. Or more likely I'll finally be able to go for a ride just to turn the key on and Bam, mandatory update required, click ok or disable electronics, please do not turn off or restart device. Expected wait time is 4 hours, and expect to have to make about five attempts to complete successfully.
@@TheRexberry Imagine the cost to repair when that gadget panel fails. Or when one of the many drive modes chatters. The new T7 is refreshingly free of such nonsense.

Tubed tires offer better protection to the rim off road than tubeless tires. You can air down tube tired for more traction off road with less risk if damaging the rim.

So, I have to say the BMW 1250 GS Adventure is still the way to go for me. This is just a fancier and more powerful version of my 2011 Triumph Tiger 800XC which I love. I have Apple Car play V0.0 by using my iPhone 6S Plus which links up to my Sena 20S beautifully. Can Apple car play connect to a Sena Bluetooth device? Next, unlike the BMW, this thing still uses a chain. I HATE chain maintenance. Most people don’t think about it until they actually do the lubrication maintenance every 500 miles which is every 1-2 weeks for 6 months and then 3-4 weeks for the other 6 months; just a pain in the ass if you ask me. If I wanted to go off-road I would prefer a truck and a Honda CRF450 or a Husky. I ride 90% road and 10% dirt with the 10% being all at one or split between two trips to the mountains or desert every year. Also, as I get older, these bikes get heavier so why struggle with a fat bike in the dessert and if you are going to take it into the dessert, better stick to paved dirt roads which a GS can do without issues. I have never ridden a GS 1250 but I am willing to bet that it’s a better fit because I am the guy that loads up the bike with camping gear, grabs his wife, and takes a nice HWY 1 or 395 cruise with camping along the way. I will do 1000+ miles in one trip and chain maintenance does become an issue. Plus you get the rain and it washes the grease out of the chain. I say get a comfy adventure or sport touring bike with shaft/direct drive and lots of room and enjoy it. I just find it hard to find a need for this sort of bike, at least as long as it’s chain drive. Oh and the frame/welds are ugly.
The new Africa Twin has TUBELESS TYRES! But the entry level model has the old tube type ones. Look for the golden rims. The golden rims are tubeless while the black ones are tubed.

Here's my take on the AS ua-cam.com/video/iSTZG_47-V8/v-deo.html but yes tubeless on that model. Most owners of the previous gen seemed to want tubeless on both.
New Triumph 900 would be better for me with lower engine, weight, tubeless tyres. I've had an XLV750 and an '82 TIGER TRAIL, so I know both Honda and Triumph know how to make very good adventure bikes.
DRL send light to the eyes on oncoming drivers. Headlights are aimed under the eyes as not to glare. DRLs are designed to increase the visibility of the vehicle. I’m not saying headlight won’t work, but DRLs work very well. High beams are even better with blasting people in the face with light.
