Man if the people of this region don’t want to be part of the Ukrainian government and have effectively seceded since 2014 why not just let them go? Why shouldn’t the people of that region be free to choose if they want to be part of Ukraine, independent, or Russia? What gives the rest of Ukraine the right to say “no, you must be one of us and are not free to leave”?
The region was taken by Russian involvement and armament of the separatist regions. You can guess what happened to the ethnic Ukranians and Ukranian nationalists who objected. Removed or executed.

They can't. Crimea asked for observers as well but OSCE and UN refused, stating they are not a fully-fledged state and, therefore, incapable of requesting services provided.
this is what Putin wants that the people vote for their own future, but western and Ukraine don't want, why? because the result will be independent sovereign.. not in the best interest of western and ukraine. you cannot have a separatist group that can hold territory if not being supported by the locals.

Everyone was ignoring Russia when it was emphasising the Minsk Accords, acting as if they were a figment of the Kremlin's "nefarious" imagination. Why is everyone else screaming about Minsk Agreements only now?
Russia also ignored the UN resolution that condemned the annexation of crimea.

The Russian separatist never observed the Minsk Accords in 2014 or 2015 and have been fighting in the Ukraine from 2014 to this day. So Russia' was never able to get the Ukrainian separatist to agree to the Minsk Accord.

What the video fails to mention is that most of the Separatist forces are unmarked Russian soldiers that invaded the region a few years ago during the Little Green Men incident. We're not talking about some rag tag group of Ukrainian terrorists that suddenly decided they want to live under the boot of Putin. These "rebels" are fully kitted in modern Russian uniforms, using modern Russian weaponry, driving around in modern Russian armored vehicles, including tanks.
Yes, you make some sense, even I would really see one deception with my own eyes. It's very strange who got to taste a healthy democracy at last, would seek shelter under the wing of Putin. Anyways, if I where to be the president of Ukraine, this would turn out differently. There would be a peoples vote with registered citizens in those areas, and if so the large mayority want to break into their own region they could do so. There is alot of good things from tradedeals, and friendship. It might have been a peoples vote on in the entire country about this, because its about the Ukraine suverenity as a whole that is on stake while separating areas out. I dont know what the issue really is, but shelling an area and doing it by 2014 in a keep the flame alive war waiting for NATO, and rebels waiting for Putin to come is just, wtf, has been wrong with this picture for the last 8 years. Even 2WW started and ended in 5 years. Wtf are they thinking about?

The ethnic tensions are not new there and predate 2014.
Some certainly are. But don't forget you have prominent right wing extremists in positions of power in Kyiv, and training soldiers and militias. They love the Nazi's and they hate Russians. If I were ethnic Russian I'd be pretty concerned, and may choose to fight for independence before they get the trains rolling.
@@abdullahsaif2065 That would ofc not be enough of an argument. It also have to be a long history, and origin. Like my country Norway we have a minority living in the northern part of the country. They are different in culture and are native to Norway. They have their own parlament up there and everything. They are running much of their own business on their own, without separating their part of the country. Then I cant see why this matters to Russians living in Ukraine, why it matters so much. There is something wrong in this picture that is not coming out.

If you look at any map of Europe from the 1920s when Russia was still Russia, not the Soviet Union, there is no 'Ukraine'. A Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, yes, but no Ukraine. Khrushchev created Ukraine out of whole cloth, like Britian created 'Isreal' and 'India', neither of which ever existed in the past, and were separatist break-away republics, like 'Ukraine'. ?Now Donetsk and Luhansk can't break-away WHY? Because Ukraine is the main LNG pipeline route to EU, worth $10sBs in transit fees.
Donetsk and Luhansk were seized by Russian-backed forces, the likes of which annexed Crimea. The Ukraine won it's right to exist from the USSR. "Palestine" is also a concept created by colonial powers that did not exist before.

The primary goal of a retreating army is maintain its military potential while at the same time denying an invasion force any access to the resources they gain from an invasion aka scorch earth policy. The Russian invasion if not done quickly enough may end up forcing Ukraine military to destroy the Donetsk and Luhansk region before they leave.

Whereas the pro-Russian separatists wear uniforms and use weapons that the Russians gave them, and speak Russian.
Russia opportunistically catches in on ethnic tensions and at a targeted moment applies military incursions . It would become unfortunate when these separatist find themselves under more difficult life once they fall under Russian rule.

the problem is the locals are head over heels in love with Putin. this is why since 2014 no Ukraine army can get into Donetsk and they struggle to control the territory they have and have to send the Azov brigade to terrorize the locals.
@@wyunaboy The Azov Brigade, the Spetsnaz and various other units have made progress against the separatists in Donetsk throughout the years, but the separatists are steadily supported by the Russians. Russian "green men" were heavily involved in the Crimean annexation, and they continue supporting the separatists to make it too difficult for the Ukranian military to overwhelm them. And then units like the fascist Azov Brigade commit war crimes & Russia complains about it, even though they sent radical extremist cechen death squads into Ukraine. The reality of holding both nations to the same standard shows many hands soaked with blood.
Everyone has a right to speak their language wherever they are and to both respect each other not go around killing those you don't like because of your fascist views azov brigade and Ukraine government. Russia like any country has a right to defend its citizens like any country does for it's people from being killed.
