We're one month away from all being right in the world once again, stay strong Josh and fellow college football fans
We are 3 months away from trump cultist starting a war against the U.S and ruining college football, nfl, nhl, and your 401k. All over a man that cares nothing about them
Most pathetic comment ever, and everyone who liked it, same for them. Absolutely pathetic, truly. Your life must absolutely blow, if this is actually what u think, so absolutely weak and lame. Zzzzzzzzzzzz. You should keep this type of thing to yourself, duh
what do you mean? you seen Cal’s travel schedule? only 90% of colleges will be right for 3 months
we need college football and trump back in office for the world to be right once again 😂
Both will happen!!! Lol
I as a die hard Nittany Lions 🦁 fan, absolutely 💯 percent can't wait till week one!!! WE ARE 🙌
Came for the rankings. Stayed for the heart wrenching story of Jeff and Steve.
I thought this was a tornado podcast. This guy is covering college football now?
I love how valiantly JP defends this poll😂
It's just his opinion. He pretends there is a "model" used to rank these teams so he can claim a neutral position.

And yet some bungholes will still bash it. And some will still think it's a "rankings." lol
best explanation of the power rating ive seen yet josh!!
Need to give that ranking/rating presentation to the CFP committee. They often don't understand their role.
They understood last year, it was a perfect playoff when they could have f'd it up tremendously. They made the perfect 4 team picks.
@@stretch141000I slightly disagree. Only on the fact that Georgia was probably the best team in the country last year, but, they didn’t deserve to be in the playoff with the way the other teams seasons played out
@@djLagwayEnjoyer Strong argument that Georgia was a top 4 team, i don't argue that at all. But they had their chance to prove it vs Bama and did not. But when i said it was a perfect playoff, i more so meant that it was great television. Michigan vs Bama and Washington vs Texas were both incredible games, thats why i say they nailed it.
@@stretch141000 oh 100% they didn’t deserve to be in over any of the other four teams. Thats why I always thought a 6 team playoff would be perfect instead of 4. MAX 8 teams. 12 teams is just way too much. Takes away from the regular season
The 3 best bodies of work were Michigan, Georgia, and Washington. The debate should have been between Bama and Texas. Debate that all you want but UGA was one of the four best teams.
Model still likes Texas
Why ? Return talent ?
What talent? I could play cornerback for them. You can’t win every game 50-40 in the SEC. Texas is USC with a bigger budget and tannish uniforms
@@RadicallyOptimisticTexas doesn't have elite talent!? Bro they just had several first round picks and is bound to have even more this year 😂
@@02orlandotheir WR room is suspect....gonna have to rely on 5star freshman Wingo and cook....may be good, my need time
@@02orlandoThat's not really a good thing. Replacing talent is harder than people make it out to be. You don't just get T'Vondre Sweat, Byron Murphy, and Jaylan Ford every year.
Have you ever done a "look back" comparison of how the initial (at the beginning of the season) JP Poll compared to the final standings at the end of the season, or, is there even any value to doing that? Just curious.
That’s the right question to ask. Very few, if any, prognosticators do this.
Or comparison vs the spread, which is usually the goal of power rankings
If whoever’s building this model behind the scenes knows anything about what he’s doing then model evaluation should happen after every week of new data coming in after each game. Would be nice for him dedicate a small video to cover it, but almost assuredly it’s happening behind the scenes
Accountability is the value.
If they did that publicly, they would get viciously ridiculed and forced to change the entire process because of how bad it is. They aren't going to do that.

We’ll all find out for sure once the season kicks off. But if any team can actually beat OSU with that roster and those coaches I will be shocked. Pairing up Chip Kelly with that defense just seems filthy to me.

I'd like to know what the models gap is between Georgia and Ohio State, 1/2 point?
I'm really interested to see the team with both Ryan Day and Chip Kelly running it.
It should prove fun to watch.
Have to give credit the JP is Finally correct about Oregon being better than Washington....
I understand Oregon had a positive 2023 season, but until I see at least 2-3 weeks of B1G Ten play, then I will rank them in the top 5. I think Oregon right now, is getting rated too high in some polls I have seen. I would rate them 7-10.
It's almost time...
Football Season!!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t think Bama is clearly Top 5. A lot of questions to be answered.
Would love to see a full list of every team in the country
Well, it's about time Georgia played a real schedule!!
Agree with you, JP. However, Nebraska will be surprising team this year. First, their schedule is duable for them to go 9&3 or even 10&2....Two: A very good defense will keep them in most if not all of their games.
Will they crack the top 25? Yes, Sir. Somewhere from #15 down to #25
🙄🙄🙄 I can’t take this pole any seriously because you always have A&M highly rated or at least middle of the pack lol

LSU not top 10 is insane
@ImChazo did u forget Daniel's is now in the NFL.....LSU lost a metric ton of talent
@@kennethburleson1031 LSU is returning the entire o line, and while not as good as Daniels, Nuss is still really good. I don’t think their offensive production will fall off that much.
Which schools that wear heavy dependent on one unit becomes the most dangerous if they improve the other side. (Example: LSU gets a defense, Iowa gets a offense)
We are so close boys 😤 footballs almost back
Michigan & Missouri, 11 and 15? Do you have a bong back there?
Missouris has one winning season in half a decade, that makes sense
Michigan just went through a massive coaching rehire. And is replacing 90% of their offense,
Missouri should be higher. Michigan I think should be lower.
TL:DR
There’s a top tier, we all know them (UT, Oregon Georgia, OSU)
After that it’s a cluster. We just don’t know enough yet.
Sleepers: Florida and, Iowa if they find an offense
Half the Top Ten remains in the SEC ... 9 outta the Top15. Odd of winning the SEC are a lot smaller and beating Saban's numbers just got a helluva lot harder
I’m happy because FSU is in the top 10. At this point it means they are contending at every level though ACC championship has the best odds. We’ll see. If our WR has progressed as well as I’m hearing and DJ continues the progress he’s been making we may shock some people. The D will be a killer without question.

Please explain Texas A&M at 13. So much turnover yet we’re to expect that they perform better than the previous two years?
For those of us who don’t visit each campus in the offseason. Is performance not an indicator of where the players are in skill?
They went nuts in the portal, brought in guys who actually fit the program. Elko also knows how to show discipline in a program. All of their hard games are at home btw.

A&M has a top 10 talent roster in the nation. Top 5 in blue chip ratio. Not surprising at all
@@chukwubuikemewelike2028 okay but this isn’t a roster talent ranking. On field production in the last 3 years and first season under a new coach, and the carry over of poor culture from last staff plays more of a factor for this season than what their potential roster does.

Reminds me of ou texas yet everybody still picks texas 😂
Espn FPI (the better computer) picked OU over texas. So did I
Haven’t finished the video, did the model factor in Rara Thomas being out for UGA? Likely gone for good.
I don’t think RaRa Thomas not playing for Georgia will matter THAT much. I mean, as far as the depth of the X receiver is concerned, yes, it plays a factor. But, UGA has played without their lead X for most of their entire National Championship runs. Colbie Young had passed Thomas anyway.
20 bucks you’ll still get flack for power rankings. I can’t wait to see your reaction to it lol
Penn state seems to be overrated a lot in the past. I wonder if it's a lot of underachieving or lazy off-season research.
As a Penn State fan it’s lazy off season research. We lost a ton of essential pieces after last season, likely gonna finish ranked in the 15-20 range if I were to guess
2020 and 2021 are definitely where the perception comes from which is fair. However, there are a lot of years where they were ranked 7-10 in the preseason and finished around the same in the Final Poll.
I think they’re going to split USC and Wisconsin, lose to Ohio State, and finish 10-2. The offense’s production or lack thereof is going to be the key this year
Penn State is top 5 in games won in the CFP era.
@@autoscopy I think this ties in with lazy research. Multiple seasons of 10-2 with no top 25 wins. They have good records but never feel like a top 10 team to me.
That’s why we love college football. Shit just happens..
USC has to be the biggest wild card to make the playoffs they play if they go 2-2 against these 4 teams they are in. #6 Penn State, #7 Notre Dame, #10 LSU, and #11 Michigan. This doesn’t include Wisconsin and Nebraska either.

A 10-2 SEC team will play a 10-2 Big Ten team in the championship.
I had a thought. Would a 10-2 Penn state team make it into the cfp over a 9-3 Michigan?
Depends on the wins. I think Michigan has a more difficult schedule an there would be no head-to-head.
No. Reigning National Champion. PSU hasn't beaten Michigan in many years. The "Lions"' schedule is baby poo.
What about when yall won 2 games in 2020 and lost to PSU. My team actually took 2020 seriously unlike Michigone
I dont think he knows his Power Ranking is the same as Ratings. He thinks he does, but he doesn't. Even his example...contradicts his definition.
Boy are you wrong on #67,9, and 10!
The Michigan disrespect is real lmaooo
I'm going to be told by ignorant casuals "but Michigan lost a bunch of production!" but you guys don't realize how many snaps these kids filling in have played. Guys filling in aren't brand new kids who have taken a D1 snap, they've actually played in games against PSU, OSU, Alabama, and Washington.
True but it doesn't matter, they're returning less than %40 of production and are on a first year head coach. With a schedule that's been harder than what they've had in 10 years.
@GavinSchmavin44 okay, you're right on paper, but this isn't a normal scenario. Sherrone Moore coached Michigan to victories in their toughest 3 game stretch of last season, notching wins over PSU and OSU. The new DC is the guy that acrually designed the defense Michigan has been running for the last 3 years, and the S%C coach was literally Ben Herbert's assistant and protege. Nobody batted an eye when Ohio State had Ryan Day take over. Nobody batted an eye when Marcus Freemam took over ND. Why does Michigan not get the same benefit of the doubt? We have reloaded talent and continued to improve year over year for the last 3 years. All of a sudden, we aren't capable of producing the same type of guys we've been producing under this system for the last 3 years? Give me a break.
@CertifiedClapaholic harbaugh was still the HC everywhere, but on the sidelines for those victories.
That DC hasn't been good implementing his defense anywhere.
The S&C guys handing off to protege doesn't always work, same as HC handing off.
People did bat an eye at freeman..?
Because the amount of production ND returned in 2022 was a lot higher than UM in 2024.
UM doesn't recruit well enough to reload. You spent 3 years building up to last year.
@@liamdaly2727 Alright. We'll see. I'm sure you, the casual observer of Michigan football, knows exactly what Sherrone Moore was doing while Harbaugh was out there making sure the practices were running right. I'm sure the SEVEN YEARS that Sherrone was by Haraugh's side did him absolutely 0 favors when it comes to transitioning into the role he was obviously groomed for.
Everyone said they couldn't reload after Hutch and Ojabo left, they did and got even better. Everyone said they couldn't replace Haskins, they did and got even better. Everyone has been doubting Michigan for the last 3 years and it culminated in a Natty so I think Michigan has proven that they can develop talent and compete for championships.
@@CertifiedClapaholic I'm sure Moore was doing his job.. which was OC.
That was 3 years of returning a majority of their production... they were incredibly deep and experienced because they don't recruit like a school who reloads. Michigan rebuilds. Which we saw them spend 3 years doing leading up to 2023

Everyone always dogs on Georgia for having an easy-ish schedule. They have the number 3 hardest schedule in all of cfb. When Georgia goes 12-0 or 11-1 and wins the sec as well as the natty. You’ll all be sorry
My single complaint with the model is that Ole Miss is rated below Penn State. Ole Miss has more returning production offensively, and gained more in the “offseason”. Not to mention that they played in the last game of the year last season on a neutral field with the Rebels winning.
As stated Ole Miss has a substantially more difficult schedule than Penn State.
You give Ole Miss, Penn States schedule they are competing as one of favs for Big10.
Conversely you put Penn State in the SEC with Ole Miss schedule there are at least 4 losses there.
I’d go as far to say, Ole Miss has less questions than TX but because it’s TX and outside their game against UGA at home they gave one of the weakest sec schedules to ever exist they are getting boosted so high.
They will be good but put on a neutral field against Ole Miss id take Ole Miss.
PSU didnt have a secondary dressed for that game.

What I don't understand is how when Washington lost a ton of talent in the offseason they get booted from the top 25 but Michigan is somehow still considered a top 8-12 team despite losing all 5 of their offensive lineman, their QB, 5 guys in the front 7, and Mike Sainristil in the secondary. Oh yeah and Rod Moore is hurt. Michigan is looking like Iowa 2.0 and is way overrated.
Can’t wait to say “Florida could win the big12” out of context
Florida may go 3-9
No way 6 sec teams get in
We gotta talk how fsu is at 9 with Miami and Clemson way on down. Fsu did have a Cinderella story last year but they didn't blow out those other teams. Plus fsu is not a great team this year where the other 2 are better than last year
Top 5 margin of victory last year. They were dominant when jordan Travis was playing. Question marks across the board. Miami should be good but hasn’t done anything in decades. Fsu won 10 games in 22 before 13 in 24. Clemson is a wildcard since they lost so much on D. Miami can do their talking in Gainesville
It's all subjective but I don't find your rankings out of bounds.
