Sarah, thanks for making this great video! I have both a 208c and Morph and they are indeed an ideal pairing. Heading over to the download link to grab your sampled Live 11 instrument pack.
I wish Behringer would release their own well designed take on west coast synthesis (without being a complete ripoff of any particular Serge or Buchla modules) ... It's probably the only way I'd be able to afford to tap into this world, other than soft synths.
@@AdamsBrew78 what about the volca modular? It’s a unique fun and inexpensive take on the west coast world. I had one but sold it to fund my eurorack but now that I understand modular and subtractive synthesis I’ve been planning to buy one again (planning to have a mini baby cable battery driven modular setup with the bastl stuff).
Why are the envelope sliders inverted on the Easel? Just to be different or was there some LSD fueled design logic to it? I appreciate the "thinking outside the box" nature of west coast synthesis, even if I don't understand the principle behind some of Don Buchla's decisions. Maybe it was just due to early synthesizers being a new breed of instrument, without having any common design language yet.
The Easel originally came out in 1973, so there wasn't the common language of the fader down is a shorter attack time and the fader up a longer attack time. Also if you think of the envelope sliders as the rate of attack and decay instead of the length of attack and decay they don't seem inverted (a lot of 80s and 90s digital synths with complex envelopes are also programmed with envelope rate instead of time where a faster rate leads to a shorter envelope time).
@@PerfectCircuit Ah, that makes sense. thnx for the well-informed explanation! hopefully I’ll someday get a chance to play on a real Buchla, even though I’ll probably never afford my own. Even the software emulation is unlike anything else I’ve heard, so the HW must be out of this world! P.s. Super excited to get my Elektron OTmk2 from ya (just ordered on ebay) .. I’ve heard many great things about your shop over the years and looking forward to doing business with ya in the future.
Only one conductor. More reliable and can be plugged and unplugged during a performance without pops. Can be easily stacked, though 3.5 mm stackable cables now exist. Their design is necessarily more complex, though. And Buchla ( and Serge) pre-date Eurorack.
Mines may be cheaper but I can leave it anywhere on my desktop and when I turn it off it dispersal like magic, sort of what would happen to my relationship if I bought this one.
US$3000 for the Command, and Buchla can't even pay a decent photographer for their website photos. Some kind of business sense snafu over at Buchla HQ.
⚡Wow⚡ So well done Sarah and Perfect Circuit. Really enjoyed this one, and honored to be a part of it. 🙏
This is an excellent presentation; easy to follow, quickly paced, in-depth!

Man, if I did soundscape or Sci-fi scoring. I'd have the time of my life with that!
gorgeous instrument, at this price it is tempting - 8k for an Easel was just insanity.
Awesome! I'm fascinated by the sounds of the Easel
Now I know why my spaceship doesn't fly. It's because I don't have THAT.
Sounds so beautiful, even out of my totally trash headphones
Love it
Would love one of these and Serge for use with my Eurorack systems.

R2-D2 decided to order one @5:43.
How do you configure midi channels on the Buchla ? Cheers !
Oh yes.

@@AdamsBrew78 Thanks, you can also contact our customer service if you ever have questions about gear!
Waiting for Behringer to make the move :D
What are the desktop dimensions of the Buchla Easel Command? I'm not sure if it will fit my studio.

@@PerfectCircuit Thank you!
IT FITS!!!

The price. It's the price.
lol exactly, do I want a P5 rev 4 or this little box?
not really….
look at the Moog Model D for instance. that’s a pretty penny, too.
can you patch the Buchla with eurorack modules?

I don't get banana plugs... I don't want something with another connection standard

@@mgscheue Thanks for the great explanation!
So when is it supposed to be out and how much?
Both of these items are out, check the links in the video description to see pricing.
Whatever store has I'm about to find out
