    The CC02 is not a Tamiya attempt in the scale/ crawler world. It is just a CC01 modernized. That's it. If you expect more than that, especially in going trhough obstacles, get a MST CMX or CFX which come at a similar price point in a kit version, but will have a real trail crawler experience. However, Tamiya remains strong on their basics: the body is very good, and the building experience is nice!

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  Рік тому +1

      Nice summary. The CC02 is getting long in the tooth and I think it's overpriced for what you get today, but I have agree otherwise. Tamiya make a good kit.

    I had my Baja Bronco out for it's first run on the trail. I was surprised at how good it ran over trail branches, tree roots, loose leaves and soft ground. I did put a set of RCLion cheapo Amazon tires on 1.9 steel wheels. Not on par with my SCX10 but still fun on the trail.

      On this one I reckon tires would make all the difference, yeah. Nice one

    If it wasn't Tamiya it wouldn't be worth mentioning but they have figured out that monetizing nostalgia pays pretty handsomely. Good on them but eventually they will pay for their complacency in an ever evolving market. Eventually...

    I hope there is a day when I hop onto the internet and I see a new crawler release from Tamiya that is competitive with other manufacturers. The Bronco looks great and I'm sure the smiles-per-drive ratio is high but I can't help but wish there was a higher level of performance. Thanks for the video and I hope you have a great weekend!

    I also have traxxas, element rc, wpl, axial and I just got myself for my birthday (50 years!!!) a reissue of a 1982 buggy.
    The Kyosho legend scorpion 4X2 full aluminum kit, I must say that I have never mounted such a beautiful kit in my life.

      THANKS
      Honestly you will not be disappointed, it is a chassis from the competition of the time, the double beam design makes it solid and light!
      I love this buggy, the kyosho is really fun to drive, you can feel the quality, the balance of the chassis, the sturdiness, but above all the vintage side where driving was more important than speed!
      I put in a tamiya Super Stock RZ 23T 53697 carbon motor and I have to say the power is more than resonable for this kit.
      I also have a Lunch box from tamiya, really very very nice and super fun!
      Thanks to you, I also have a great element rc crawler, the sendero trailwalker, which gives me a lot of pleasure.

    Like so many older people I started out with Tamiya so I have a soft spot for them, and they can sometimes do good things - but so often they just don't. Sometimes it's like you're building the sort of thing Banggood does RTR for $50, only it's not $50 and doesn't have bearings. And what damn decade do their designers live in? Have they even seen a real car? There's 'quirky' design and then there's just bad...

    might seem like a dumb thing to say but if you file the tip off of a philips it works much better putting these together. Ive put quite a lot of tamiyas together...i have never bothered to buy a proper JIS bit set. If you try to put them together with a plain old philips youre gonna get frustrated they tend to cam out pretty easy you have to put a crazy amount of force down. However if you just file down the tip a bit, works a treat.

They are Hobby grade with interest too. Tamiya is just toys. I bought the CR-01 crawler by Tamiya, very good but.., you would definitely want to get more advanced parts and electronics. I made a very capable crawler with the CR-01 and at the same time.., I transformed it from a crawler, to a racer on 1.9 inch mudslingers. I got it to go about 40 mph on a stock tranny. I've built kits from everyone at this point and the most toy-like ones to build are the MN86KS and WPL models that snap together. If it's a continuum, tamiya kits are next, then you get to more refined kits like those from gmade and axial, then traxxas takes it a bit further... And then you get to the better stuff like RC4WD and cross rc and you think you've reached a pinnacle... Until you then build a boom racing kit. Then you realise what you've been missing!

    I love how guys complain in their reviews about bump steer on a crawler. 😆 “Vastly affected”. Just stop. It’s ridiculous to even consider that it’ll be noticeable at walking speed trailing and basic crawling. Seriously guys.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  10 місяців тому

      I take your point but respectfully disagree; it really is noticeable. It's the worst part of this model, IMO. But beside that, if you build a scale model, you want scale function, right? For many of us, it's part of the fun to know the rig is working like it should.
      Go a bit less scale and look at the Carisma SCA-1E, for example. It has the same design shortcoming as the Tamiya here, but it's less pronounced. However, it's still bad enough that it prevents the rig from doing basic lines it could otherwise drive. I corrected it on the RGT vehicles affected by this too, and could measure the improvement - even showed a performance comparison on a closed course in a Before and After for the EX86110 when I did it for that one. It was a measurable improvement in ability.
      I mean, you can dismiss such criticism as being silly, as it's just a toy, etc., but my whole channel is about such toys. It would be weird to not discuss something like this, no? In the scheme of things, of course it doesn't matter. But we're looking at RC cars, so discussing such things is kinda the point :)
      I'm designing a fix for the SCA-1E steering. It's worth the effort. You may not agree, and that's fine. But I think it's worth it!

      Its the first car I've actually lost. I was wondering where it was recently. I have a terrible memory, it's possible I've given it away, but I simply cannot recall.
      For what it's worth, the RGT 136100 V3 is a much better car than the Tamiya Bronco. I know you want that body and maybe you could get it later on, but for a driver's car, the RGT is far superior.
      I can't get that trx4 clone here for any reasonable amount of money. The RGT Rescuer is similar money and very, very good.
