The morning after the Bondi stabbing my home was invaded by 3 armed men in balaclavas and gloves. One had a crowbar, one had a machete and the third had a GUN. When they left they said they would be back. The cops told me not to worry," they PROBABLY won't come back". Not one public announcement of the home invasion has been made. They have not been caught. My faith with NSWPD is extremely low.

I had an old buddy who lives in Australia. During Covid they would tell me how they were not allowed to leave their house at all. Only for like 2 hours to go grocery shopping and what not for a period of time. Total dictatorship
Was anywhere really much better, though? England had it worse than most states of Aus other than Victoria - but Victoria had Dan Andrews running it, so that explains that.
Probably need to ask what state or city they came from. Where I live, you couldn't congregate at a venue with more than a certain amount of people. And they did impose personnel limit in stores (this was also to curb panic buying). But you were never stopped from going outside or meeting other people. Just couldn't be in a 10x10m room with 50 other people. And a lot of jobs could remain open if they could take the proper precautions (restaurants were turned into drive thrus which was funny) and if they couldn't, they could get monetary assistance from the government. To the extent we had an issue of people not going back to work when restrictions were loosened because government paid more than their jobs did. Or if not that, you were paid to not do work which evened it out.

What was it, about 2% of gun owners in Chi town actually registered their guns, making the rest outlaws, and everyone shrugged.
