Holy cow! I’ve had my Panamorph DCR on wrong the whole time. I had the Panamorph logo facing up. I had some barrel distortion before now that’s it’s on right (Panamorph facing down) I have little to no barrel distortion AND I believe my image is brighter! I need to check my nit level now. I would have never known had I not watched your video!
Wonderful video Jaremy! I presently own a JVC NZ7 paired up with a elunevision 130” scope ATS screen. I would love to upgrade to a Mdvr core combined with a panamorph DCR lens. Does it make more sense to go with the Core first, then purchase the lens later once I’ve saved up the dollars. By the sounds of it you don’t really recommend going with the lens without the processor.
I think processor first then lens makes the most sense for a few reasons. I'm happy to chat about it directly if you reach out at jaremy@techthusiasm.net. I give you a referral for the madVR, and when you're ready I can sell the lens as well if you feel confident installing it with my support.
Do you have any recommendations on how to label your media files on your hard drives? Your file structures, folders, release dates? I have a bunch of videos with different file types, different resolution, different naming schemes, and folder structures. Do you have any suggestions for how to manage and label your digital media? I’ve got a thousand movies and have no consistency. Any guides out there? I have Mac and windows. I also use an Apple TV but I’m looking for suggestions on how to catalog my collection.
Thank You for this video, It has sold me on getting the Panamorph DCR lens. I am adding it back to the invoice. It seems with some slight adjustments there will be very little Barrel Distortion and since I am getting the Envy Core and will add the core premium package. I hope I am making the right choice...
I think the lens adds a lot to the install. Having all this light is really major. I'm even looking at a screen change to try and go from a 1.0 AT to a 1.3 AT.
I love seeing it all come together! I am just right behind you... In my space I upgraded last year to a 120" Stewart 2.4:1 scope screen paired with an Epson LS12000. I've been using lens memory, but now have my MadVR Envy Core on pre-order, and the final step will be the anamorphic lens as well when I get the cash for it. Really enjoyed hearing about your journey and what you think so far. Cheers
Much obliged Sir for the product preview, Top notch indeed. I never knew products like this existed, I'm really knew to this. my question is why don't projectors come with these type of lenses from the get go, would it be easier or maybe I'm missing something, excuse my lack of knowledge.
Very few do. Barco makes some scope aspect native projectors. I wish JVC would. If I can help you with anything or getting started in your home theater journey, reach out!
So does that mean you lose resolution when going to 16x9? I have a motorised lens mount so it can slide back and forth which allows me to have full resolution on 16x9.
Yes, with 16x9 in native aspect less horizonal pixels are being used. However, without the lens I was zooming up to fill my screen so I was losing vertical pixels for 16:9, so it's kind of a wash.
If I can figure out the logistics of mounting, Can the Panmorph Lens be used with a portable "lifestyle" projector such as the Valerion VisionMaster or the JMGO N1S Ultimate. Those units don't have an anamorphic mode. Would it be necessary?
So I have an NZ8 and a Seymour 138” 16:9 screen. I opted for the magnetic masking panels they offer which are great. However, I get tired of constantly taking them off and putting them on depending on content. Sometimes I just leave them on and have even resulted to applying digital masking to the top and bottom where some of the image still shows a bit. I know people may say why not have gotten a 2.40 screen but in reality it wouldn’t have mattered, the screen I have now is the max width I could have between the width of the room and throw distance anyway. By getting an A Lens would that enable me to just be able to leave the masking on and how much more brightness would that net me? Or is a MadVr Core a better option for arguably the same price? Thanks for the content!
By my screen remaining in a scope ratio with the masking panels, wouldn’t that be the same as a scope screen and using either an A Lens or MadVr to fit 16;9 content in it? I’m just trying to not have to remove the masking panels and use it primarily in the scope format.
Ah, I see what you mean now. What're thinking is the equivalent of having a scope screen and zooming up the image to just use the middle portion. Yes, in that case a madVR and such would give the similar benefits. Reach out at jaremy@techthusiasm.net and we can discuss it more completely directly.
I tried using the zoom feature to use all 4,096 pixels with my lens, but it causes the image to be too wide and not tall enough. My lens must not be the right type?

Cool, I'm glad the video helped!
Great video, we need much more of such videos, not only the product advertising videos of most of the other home cinema UA-camrs!!!
Much appreciated!
Again Congrats and Enjoy!💯👨🏾🦲

Thanks Jeremy. I appreciate your feedback.

I just use the movie name and the year like "(2003)" along with a tag for SD/HD/HDR.

What kinda timing are they giving you a that MadVR core?
@@guillermomartin8248I was told “probably” December, which is for round 2 of the pre-orders. Could be as long as February is what I was told
Hopefully you'll get to see it first-hand. I can help you get the lens when you're ready for one, as well.
@@guillermomartin8248 it seems they are shipping this week. I ordered within the 1st week so mine may not ship out this week.

@@Techthusiasm ah yes. I built some masking panels to hang up when using 16x9 and no lens.

You wouldn't use lens without something setting the image processing to anamorphic mode. It wouldn't look right.
@@Techthusiasm Thanks for the confirmation.

A lens wouldn't do anything for you, nor really would a madVR. You don't want to stretch content vertically. It will look terrible.
By my screen remaining in a scope ratio with the masking panels, wouldn’t that be the same as a scope screen and using either an A Lens or MadVr to fit 16;9 content in it? I’m just trying to not have to remove the masking panels and use it primarily in the scope format.
A madvr model that is capable of non linear stretching and automatic aspect ratio adjustments would do it.

Possibly, some are not spec'ed for the 4096 ratio.
Now you only lack LLDV.
Yeah, I could set up that with the madVR now.
@@Techthusiasmyour system is awesome. Thanks for making these videos. Can’t wait to see a DV versus HDR comparison through the MadVR.
Have a great set up
