One of the B-52's in this video; Iron Butterfly, is the front cover painting of the Third EditionB-52 In Action from Squadron Signal, and she's also the back cover painting of the updated version of the same book.
These *Buffs* as a basic platform are moreover, potentially even multi-rolling today in Air-intercept / basic modern-era surveillance requirements ... e.g., it leven looked as if a Buff performed a sort of recon sortie a couple days ago between Greenland and Norway, to monitor some potentially nefarious negative activities over a broad space.
From what I understand they now have two bomber squadrons instead of one. I’m just glad the 23rd is still doing what they do best. My favorite thing to watch on multiple takeoffs is how trailing buffs that follow another upon takeoff end up making pretty significant corrections because of the jet wash from the preceding plane. It can get pretty hairy just even watching let alone riding in one 😂
TDY to Minot AFB February -March 1979.
5th FMS welding shop. Great squadron and people to work with

When they're hanging off the wings. 🙂
Why not Minot.
Newbie Airmen hate it but I may one day go back. Sure the weather is extreme but the community of Minot are the nicest and the safest.
Destination Moscow!
Sound of Freedom
