This is back country Gear The pockets are cut high so that if you have a backpack with a hit belt on you can still access them

I was also impressed with the feel and the warmth, and felt the cut was a little short

The pockets are supposed to be high. If you have a pack on amd they are low, you can't get to them.

Is it more or less warm than the pelaton 240 vest? Tks

I haven't tried the pelaton 240 vest but based on my experience with the material used on pelaton verse the Quik down material, I would say on a fall day in the Pacific Northwest, the pelaton would feel nice and cozy. The Quik down vest isn't as cozy, It's straight up provides warmth. If it's like 45 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit I will wear the Quik down vest over a shirt and it good. The Quik down keeps me warmer than most other jackets I have. I can wear it as an outer layer (with a jacket such as pelaton 240 under it) and it works fine in cold temperatures. For an example, I'd keep the vest on and a jacket through the Mid to high 30°f through high 40°f (out in the feild), after that I'd take off the Quik down vest and keep the pelaton or depending on the terrain I could keep the vest on with a long sleeve shirt under it. This is how I wore the vest and it worked for me. I hope this helps. Also I do prefer to keep my self cooler. I don't usually have the heat up.

@@TheStrivering Man, thank you so much, Helps alot. I just bought the axis thermal hybrid vest but i will return as it is too large. The quix down seems real nice but potentially noisy out in the field. I am torn.

@@MrRyanmcmahon the Quik down jacket with the sleeves is way to noisy. I wear it around town in the winter but not hunting. The sleeves rubbing on the jacket make to much noise. The vest is still ok with noise level as long as you don't rub against twigs or branches. The good thing is kuiu makes great quality gear and you can still use when not hunting. The bad thing is the price. I spoke with kuiu a few days ago (ordered the wife some stuff) they will be having a sale at the end of the month and free shipping on orders over 150. So if your not in a rush, keep your eye out on that.

I have a lot of kuiu. The ultra is the warmest vest by quite a bit. The keni is the next warmest, BUT it absolutely will not block the wind at all. The keni is a solid insulation layer that breathes. The down will NOT. The peloton isn't warm at all. It's not insulation. You absolutely can use the ultra down. It is an insulation piece ment to be worn under a shell. The shell will keep the sound out. The strong fleece 280 is way better than the peloton 240 for different reasons. Both block wind, but the 280 has lighter fleece under the arms, so you vent better. I use this a lot every day. Short sleeve shirt, then the 280, the keni no hood jacket, then a kutana storm shell over top to cut wind and rain. Depending on temp, you can remove your 280 and open you pit zips on your jackets. Or, remove keni and use 280 with the kutana. If it gets colder, you can add the ultra vest under the keni. With no vest, I'm good into the mid 20s with zero issues. I had a problem before using the 280 and cheap rain coat or even the keni. I always had vapor from my come through my clothes and be trapped under the rain coat causing wet out from inside. When I started using the kutana, it allowed the vapor to escape. Did 3 miles yesterday and no issues, 40F strong winds, steep terrine. Week before was 28, some wind, steep. Before that 23f. Last one was 280 and kutana only. If it’s getting down right cold, I'll use a heavy down coat with maybe the keni under it. The peleton 240 hat is decent for walking but the new wind pro is very warm. The axis hat has the ear holes amd is great, bit if it's windy, the wind over the holes make a horrible loud sound and you can't hear anything. The keni hat you can't hike in it, too hot. The axis pants are amazing. A little loud for walking but if your weather sucks like western pa, it's worth it. Try not to get too many hoods on at one time, it's just a pain in the ass. Hope this helps.
