Hey everyone. I have made a new video outlining how to install BTech with the changes with UAC and Steam. Check out ua-cam.com/video/wNLkAMB-PrU/v-deo.html for that video!
Great video, some things have changed since you posted this but it's still useful. To install ModTek now, you just extract the entire ModTek folder into the BattleTech directory (steam/steamapps/common/battletech) and run battletech. It'll automatically do everything else for you (the injector runs itself, magically) The link to the community asset bundle on Nexus Mods will give you an older version and it'll give you a link to a newer on on a different website. It seems like BattleTech mods aren't updated on Nexus as much anymore? I'm not sure what's going on with that.
I just did a new version of the mod installs. It's working fine for me but yeah - there are some improvements. :) Here's the new video, updated for 2023: ua-cam.com/video/wNLkAMB-PrU/v-deo.html
I haven't seen anything that changes the physics of falling down for 'Mechs, but that doesn't mean someone hasn't done something. I think the animations are associated with the models, so if you get different models (like using the Community Asset Bundle), you'll get different animations. Some of those lack the animations to remove limbs (like the Longbow which doesn't destroy the LRMs). There are some quality of life mods (better firing lines, being able to move to change facing, etc.). I haven't found anything that changes the default animations of he 'Mechs, though. If you find something, drop it below. :) Good luck
Thx for the work put in this vid, but at this point Modtek changed. ModTekInjector was replaced by Doorstop which should have made things easier, sadly for me though i can't even get anything to work now.^^' No matter how often I reinstall and follow all instructions i dont even see Mods in the games Mod section. Modtek isn't starting either. Is it working for everybody else? ^^
I need to do new versions of these because you're right - things have shifted around pretty significantly. It's on my list of things to do in the Near Future(TM). :D I am curious why you're having trouble with ModTek, though, unless you got an unstable version. I'll poke around and see if I can get a new install and troubleshoot it. The one thing I would be cautious about is installing somewhere other than your main drive. Seems like CAB and some of the mods don't work really well when that happens. Also - check your log files to see if there's something obvious happening there. That might provide some information about what's failing to load (or if it's even trying to). Good luck!
@@GizmoDeVoe Thx, I will look into some of your suggestions. And its good to hear there will be an updated version of this. I'm sure this will continue to be very helpful for your audience!^^

Thanks for this. Now to find the mix of mods I want...
I am planning on doing a few videos on the mods that I've tried and what I liked/disliked about them. Happy you got yourself going!
@@GizmoDeVoe looking forward to it!
could you update your install guide? I'm having a helluva time getting mods to work with battletech.
I've been quite sick and on a hiatus, but I will see what I can do. :)
@@GizmoDeVoe Hey thanks! Hope you feel better soon mate
You are the man!
Thanks! Good luck.
Is there a mod that makes it look cooler when mechs fall down ?
