Now that we've all played Terraria 1.4 Journey's End I thought it would be a good time to take a look back at this almost 7-year-old update Terraria 1.2. This is the update that most console and mobile fans remember, and also the one that completely revived the PC Community for Terraria.

welcome back to another nostalgic look back at an old Terraria update! In today's video (to kill time until 1.4.1) we're taking a look at Terraria 1.2 which came out September 30th 2013 for PC! This update famously brought Terraria back to life and doubled the game's content! For those that haven't played in a while, 1.2 was pretty special on PC since it was only out 1 month before receiving 2 HUGE content updates that completely changed the post-game. When my little brother started playing Terraria, I actually really hyped up the KO cannon and made it sound like the best early hardmode weapon out there. While of course it is a somewhat decent weapon, it's not something I would have ever sought out. My little brother however still associates it with that hype and always goes out of his way to get the KO cannon now in his runs. There you go James; now you know someone who actually farms for the KO cannon (:

I remember seeing the large gems, reading it as ‘for the capture gem’ instead of ‘for capture the gem’ and being extremely disappointed when I spent 3+ hours getting the large gems together and I didn’t end up with an extremely powerful accessory/ weapon. I was really stupid.

I found it on my 3rd day of playing Terraria, right at the entrance of the cave
The enchanted sword was one of the first weapons I found. I immediately died afterwards to a dart trap...
The sword had the modifier "nasty" so for a good 10 minutes I thought it poisoned you when you swing it until I died to the dart trap again and managed to spot it.

1.2 was the biggest difference for terraria. Especially the slopes. Not only you can create slopes. Worlds in the past were just regular block created. Now they have a bit of slope for the world. And also the hills. They are not like staircases, They have a few slopes. This update is like a large portion for 1.4

This is really nostalgic for me because I started playing in 1.2. I remember dragon armor that was the best in the game and at one point it had the same sprite as the jungle armor. Also I remember somehow finding a dragon helmet prehardmode in a chest. brings back memories.

the very first version of the legacy console editions had that bug where dragon armor could be found in chests pre hardmode
also it was a recolor of jungle armor and was later changed
also the first version of the xbox 360/ps3 version of the games were 1.1.2 as 1.2 wasnt out at the time

dude just got me thinking ab old terraria memories and starting up my first world on the xbox 360 with some friends and found a glitched dragon helmet in a chest in a cave and that’s still one of my favorite memories just like randomly having a op helmet and copper everything else

1.2 was actually my first version of Terraria! I got to know about Terraria through Etho and Zisteau's "Terraria 1.2 is EZ" series. I played 1.2 all the way to the end with my brother and it was so much fun! This video really brought my memories back :D
Same man. Except I got to know terraria from my older brother. I never beat terraria legit until almost 1.4. When I was on mobile my brother just gave me a ton of stuff. It was pretty ez once I got terraria on my lab top.

5:10 I can let you know that it is indeed a feature, just an exceedingly rare feature. In fact Sword Shrines didn’t exist in 1.2, so you got extremely lucky with that Enchanted Sword find!
You can still find the swords outside of the shrines even in 1.4 (seen some reddit proof of this on r/terraria). They are just incredably rare. Like. Super incredably rare. In all 2000+ hours of Terraria I have played, I have only found the sword outside the shrine twice.

1.) He's not on the team working on the console port.
2.) Development likely just started for v1.4 since it got handed off to DR Studios, so we're probably not going to get a release date any time soon.
I'm hopeful for it being released soon as well, but the problem is that porting games can sometimes take as long as developing them based on the platform. Don't be disappointed, though! I'm sure it won't take too long to finish the port.

Edit: I also remember finaly beating planterra just so i could get in the golem dungeon and then found the hammer glitch thing to pass through the door
watching this video brings back so much nostalgia I would always remember me and my dad playing struggling to beat eye of Cthulhu and me getting back from school and looking at all the goodies my dad found all in all I miss this update and just love seeing it keep making great videos chippy.

This brings back memories especially since i actually had a hard time with golem since the altar was positioned so that his head would be stuck in the walls what made it worse was that i was sorta full melee i was glad the chlorophyte spear existed cause the spore it shoots went through walls.

1.2 is my favorite update, especially with being a console player. So glad you made one of these for this terraria version
1.2 was by far my most enjoyed period of Terraria. I've got thousands of hours in Terraria and have been playing since launch but mosr of those thousands were during 1.2 whilst watching Chippy, thanks for the good times back then and the Nostalgia now.

1.2 was MY Game, this version was the version I grinded for hundreds of hours on mobile and I LOVE this version. So glad to see you play it.

Chippy this was an amazing video thank you it brought back a lot of nostalgia. I was 7 an 1/2 when 1.2 came out and I played on mobile but when 1.3 came out years ago and mobile didn’t get it for another four years needless to say that was a boring time and now that 1.4 is out and I’m your age when you played terraria it makes me want to think about all I did in that time. This was an amazing video as well.

Tips for anyone playing 1.2: you can get a drax pre hard mode!! Get a shadow key and it has a chance to be in an obsidian chest

i remember playing this version with my siblings for HOURS over the summer. this version is so nostalgic for me. i remember farming like 100 leapus at a time bc if you let those eggs it spawned sit they would make more leapus’. this game is truly a masterpiece

I have been playing terraria since 2012. I played it on mobile first, back when it was on 1.0ish. It had the Wall of Flesh, but no hard mode or Pwnhammer. But 1.2, man, this takes me back. 1.2 is the update I spent the most time on. Over 4 years. While 1.3 and 1.4 are godsend, 1.2 is my favorite update.
@@yam4016 that was in the PC version- I'm referring to the mobile version where they added wall of flesh into the game, but killing him would only reward you with some potions and any one of the WoF weapons or charms
Big shoutout to the people who started mobile 1.2 with OCRAM as a final boss and the souls of blight... that armour was SICK
On my ps4 in 1.2 I had so many troubles with defeating golem. Probably because: 1) I was a noob ( not a huge noob but I wasn't too good at the game ) 2) I had a really small golem room
I finally defeated him using if I remember correctly piranha gun and I was in a little box so he couldn't hit me. I also tried to kill ocram but I couldn't ;( I reget it because his mask and trophy weren't deleted in 1.3 update ( they were only made unobtainable ). The only 2 things that weren't removed that I have are shadow mummy banner and 2 pieces of horned god set. I also regret not getting it whole because it's uniqe and cool! ( I have helmet and robe, according to the wiki this set can still be purchased from the travelling merchant but I NEVER seen him selling it ). I'm really mad because this set looks great but I miss its 1 piece

I agree with Chippy here; 1.2 was focused almost entirely on substance, and in doing so was lacking in polish. A lot of ideas such as the Summoner class and the alternate worldgen were half-baked and lacked depth. There were only 4 summon weapons and a single summon armor set at the time of 1.2's launch, and the alternate worldgen content is still getting balanced to this day. I'd say it was an awkward middle ground between "Classic" Terraria and "Modern" Terraria. However, it was just what the doctor ordered at the time.
Y'know, even if it means nerfing Titanium armor a million more times.

It was so nostalgic seeing the old sprites for me it definitely reminded me on how far terraria has gone .
Hehe, this was where I started out playing terraria, I played it on my moms iPad. For years. Now that I have it on a bunch of things, and with 1.2, 1.3, and 1.4, I really appreciate the little quality of life changes. They just made an already pretty fun experience so much better.
listen man, i do this too, my old Ipad is unable to update so my old terraria games are in 1.2 so i can play 1.2 mobile whenever i want, man its different, i miss the old days.

This is SOO nostalgic. I bought Terraria right when 1.2 came out. I remember really loving Fishron just cuz he's the final boss (there wasn't a moon lord yet, so fishron was the hardest) and is a giant fish, which I also like. Still my fav today.
I also remember disliking the Influx Waver because it was better than the Terra Blade and was so easy to get. I mean, what should be better, an item you craft for almost the entire game and using way too many ingredients, or just a thing that drops from some random miniboss.
I remember when the hardmode update came to mobile and I was so excited that I couldn’t stop playing. When I played 1.3 on the computer I spent over 1000 online hours and probably about 2000 more hours offline because my internet was bad.
I thought most of these features were a lot newer. I guess I played 1.1 for a lot longer than I thought! Really cool video!
