Here's the thing about Anime/Manga, it's usually written by... artists. Artists tend to be fairly progressive even if they're edgy, therefore, there's a lot of progressive stuff in anime and manga despite cultural hang ups and the fact that Japan, as a nation, is VERY conservative.

I relate to Hiding a lot in my journey. I am a transwoman but I had identified as non-binary before I progressed long enough in my transition to feel comfortable enough to use she/her.
I got out of religion by finding inconsistencies and researching until I just couldn't believe in it anymore. It was the reading the bible route. I still remember pastors being so happy I could construct a sermon so easily while I was just creating an argument, knowing I could reach conclusions I didn't believe in by employing the same rhetorical style as my pastors.
    Thank you for the discussions.

Exactly! It shouldn't be a problem if a young man acts effeminate and prefers the company of women socially. That doesn't mean he's really a girl. Let him live his life in his own body! How dare society tell him he has to transition to something else to be his real self. There is nothing wrong with being gay!

  • @LaFemmFatal
    @LaFemmFatal 2 роки тому +8

I define gender as the social, cultural, and psychological traits and identifications often attributed and associated with sex although not explicitly tied to it
However gender is tied to your psychological sex in the sense that your intrinsic sense of gender tells you how to interact with and identify within your social world
Edit: I’ve been seeing it this way since about 15, I started doing research because I was confused about who I was and my incongroence with my gender ( primarily socially) but also because I wanted to understand others despite how I was raised I was raised with an evangelical background but I’ve always been too open and curious for my own good ig I was taught not to question because adults didn’t know how to explain things to me because there answer would have just been because his said so but then it’s like why would god do that then they would say he says not to question him
As a black queer poor young person I’ve had to question a lot many don’t even have to think about, so I’m greatful that I’m queer and can better stand up for my community if I wasn’t queer I don’t think I’d be homophobic or transphobic in the way my family may be but I might care way less about the community and wouldn’t know as much about them as I do now
Sucks that it was hurtful but I’d rather have this pain to better bring beauty into the world
My moral stance isn’t as deep morality to me is that generally what benefits living things is moral because all living things seek to survive and we can collectively agree we want that if a neutral or even malicious person accidentally does something moral then the action is moral not the person and ofc humans will put themselves above other living things so humans would likely have more importance when referring to life as for more complicated issues I take it case by case this is just my general framework that has room for nuance bakes in for its a general principle
Also I explain the difference to newbies similar to how you described it and try to also understand them I say die to sexual dymorphism and our propensity to categorizing things it makes sense why we would want a way to socially separate gender weather it be female male or intersex, it tells us how to relate to each other and what to expect but we must understand we choose how to categorize it’s not based on biology it’s just our attempt to categorizes the sexes into boxes we must remember we make the boxes and carry the Wands and should advance as necessary we learn new things event mew technology to better society so let’s do that at construct definitions with the least amount of harm

" What exists does so regardless of how I feel....water flows, the grass appears green, the rain falls and so on".

    • @ambientjohnny
      @ambientjohnny 2 роки тому

There is no evidence for that, so... A brain is a brain, a female brain is female because it's in a female body, not because of how it "feels", there is no such thing as a brain in the wrong body it's a ludicrous anti-scientific anti-reality nonsense claim.

    • @Ptkt665

The fact that there's overlap between the probability distributions doesn't mean that we can't construct general categories like "man" or "woman". It just means that those categories are not absolute and there is overlap. But it's folly to pretend that just because reality is messy that means we can't make meaningful categories because that's how our brains work. They love putting things into categories and then pretending that reality is less messy than it really is.

Rule utilitarianism with axiomatic hard lines can still be explained by utilitarianism. It’s a humble recognition that no matter how facially appealing the consequences of doing an atrocity might seem, we’ve learned over a long period of time that those actions do have worse long term overall and distributional consequences even if we can’t see them right now.

    Everyone is egocentric.
Every person can only react to their own feelings, since their feelings ar only governed by their own mind.
Empathy is an abstraction of the mind.
You aren't actually feeling what others feel, you just have the imagination to understand.
    Everyone is equally worthless.
    Worthless, yet equally.
Meaning each persons values are worth nothing.
    BUT!
As a human I will find values based on my own egocentric experience.
Since we are all equal outside of the ego all egos are of equal value.
Each person is equally entitled to fulfill their own egotistical urges.
Saying "but this person is more valuable" is special pleading.
Because there are no physical reason to define why some are more valuable intrinsically than others.
When people say this it is like their opinions man.
    So still the ego talking.
The only way for someone to not deserve to feel equally happy as someone else is if their are values fundamental to this universe.
    So called objective values.
That is kind of a hard theory to find supporting evidence for lol.

I am a native speaker of Mexican Spanish. Everything in Spanish is gendered. They sometimes don't match up with societal conceptions of an object. For example "La pistola", the gun. In the US guns are associated with masculinity. But la is female. But then you have specific guns. "El revolver", "el rifle (or el fusil)". So guns in general are female but specific types of guns are male. It gets annoying with nonbinary stuff.

I love the robot argument. Like in Wall-e, we assume Wall-e is a boy and EVE is a girl, even tho Wall-e is a mini tank with eyes and EVE looks like an Apple product, because of their gendered physical features and voices not because of biological parts. But for some reason people have a melt down over trans people when body parts aren't necessary to gender. Also when people in chat are saying Data from Star Trek was designed 'fully functional', no he isn't. He can't reproduce, he can only have sex. His parts are closer to what trans men have after bottom surgery if anything, it resembles the male organ of cisgender human males but its not 'natural' or functional in the same way.

In Sweden we associate the mythologizing of the nation with a female.
    Mother land.
In Germany they associate the mythologizing of the nation with a man.
    Father land.
We talk about the land as moder Svea.

All my friends kinda make fun of trans, and I don't really wanna get ridiculed cause they will make fun of me, for being pro trans. Though my friends are pro-gay. They arw prolly just confused about trans people, I always kinda use small government argument when I try to convince them to be pro trans.

I think the best way to think about the binary between sex and gender is:
Sex is the biological, and can be further broken down into the primary sex characteristic: gametes, and secondary sex characteristics: forms of gonads and genitalia evolved to best facilitate the propagation of those gametes, average size of body, ratio of body part sizes to the whole body, hairiness, etc.
Gender is the average behavior associated with the average member of individuals of either sex. Which average seems to behave in what typical manner. Many behaviors can be broadly androgenous, or more and more associated with members of the opposite sex. Like: lawyers are roughly 66% male and masons are roughly 99% male: both are "net masculine" professions, but one is more masculine than the other. Another point to make is that because masculinity and femininity are based on such ratios at a point in time: they can change over time. All positions of prestige used to be significantly more masculine, by definition of the fact that there was a near complete legal or social ban on women performing them, and as that changed: they became more feminine, by definition.

The gender identity is neurological though.
There is a reason why you can't convert gender identities.
Gender identity is just part of the broader gender.
Talking about the neurological aspect of gender appeals to biology obsessed transphobes.
If that doesn't work then it is obvious that they can't overcome their own BS without some proper cultural force.

In an abstract and at the very least legal sense is what they are talking about in my opinion. So as another person commented human rights and all that jazz would fall under this category.
If you look up "humans are equal framework" the first result is a ~300 document, I can't tell if you want something like that, i haven't read it either, or what specifically they were talking about here but that's my take.

I used to watch anime content because I thought it was neat to see other people's perspectives on what I would or wouldn't watch.
I don't watch anime very often anymore so I stopped watching anime youtubers. Time is a bitch and I don't have enough to devote to seasonal watching.
