Even back when I was slightly transphobic, I always had a live and let live attitude. I didn't understand them and I certainly harbored some biases that I'm not proud of, but I always thought that as long as they weren't hurting people then it shouldn't matter what they decide to do with their own lives.
Exactly! It shouldn't be a problem if a young man acts effeminate and prefers the company of women socially. That doesn't mean he's really a girl. Let him live his life in his own body! How dare society tell him he has to transition to something else to be his real self. There is nothing wrong with being gay!

Something that helped me along time ago was a epiphany I had. " What exists does so regardless of how I feel....water flows, the grass appears green, the rain falls and so on". Sounds very simple, but I stopped worrying about if God was real and could accept ether way it wasn't up to what I thought it should be, but what was most evident and consistent.
There is no evidence for that, so... A brain is a brain, a female brain is female because it's in a female body, not because of how it "feels", there is no such thing as a brain in the wrong body it's a ludicrous anti-scientific anti-reality nonsense claim.
@@ambientjohnny I think when people say they have a 'female brain' in a man's body is when they feel discomfort from their own sex. They feel as though their body shouldn't be so.
I think it's a pretty good simplification. Like obviously it's more complicated than that, but you're also not going to explain VdJ recombination to someone who barely knows what an antibody is.
The fact that there's overlap between the probability distributions doesn't mean that we can't construct general categories like "man" or "woman". It just means that those categories are not absolute and there is overlap. But it's folly to pretend that just because reality is messy that means we can't make meaningful categories because that's how our brains work. They love putting things into categories and then pretending that reality is less messy than it really is.

I am a native speaker of Mexican Spanish. Everything in Spanish is gendered. They sometimes don't match up with societal conceptions of an object. For example "La pistola", the gun. In the US guns are associated with masculinity. But la is female. But then you have specific guns. "El revolver", "el rifle (or el fusil)". So guns in general are female but specific types of guns are male. It gets annoying with nonbinary stuff.
29:00 Vaush rad but I gotta disagree with him here. I’ve noticed most trans people who go out of their way to define themselves as “transsexual” do so as a transmed/truscum dogwhistle. Buck Angel is a good example.
I love the robot argument. Like in Wall-e, we assume Wall-e is a boy and EVE is a girl, even tho Wall-e is a mini tank with eyes and EVE looks like an Apple product, because of their gendered physical features and voices not because of biological parts. But for some reason people have a melt down over trans people when body parts aren't necessary to gender. Also when people in chat are saying Data from Star Trek was designed 'fully functional', no he isn't. He can't reproduce, he can only have sex. His parts are closer to what trans men have after bottom surgery if anything, it resembles the male organ of cisgender human males but its not 'natural' or functional in the same way.
In Sweden we associate the mythologizing of the nation with a female. Mother land. In Germany they associate the mythologizing of the nation with a man. Father land. We talk about the land as moder Svea.
All my friends kinda make fun of trans, and I don't really wanna get ridiculed cause they will make fun of me, for being pro trans. Though my friends are pro-gay. I think the best way to think about the binary between sex and gender is: Sex is the biological, and can be further broken down into the primary sex characteristic: gametes, and secondary sex characteristics: forms of gonads and genitalia evolved to best facilitate the propagation of those gametes, average size of body, ratio of body part sizes to the whole body, hairiness, etc. Gender is the average behavior associated with the average member of individuals of either sex. Which average seems to behave in what typical manner. Many behaviors can be broadly androgenous, or more and more associated with members of the opposite sex. Like: lawyers are roughly 66% male and masons are roughly 99% male: both are "net masculine" professions, but one is more masculine than the other. Another point to make is that because masculinity and femininity are based on such ratios at a point in time: they can change over time. All positions of prestige used to be significantly more masculine, by definition of the fact that there was a near complete legal or social ban on women performing them, and as that changed: they became more feminine, by definition.
The gender identity is neurological though. There is a reason why you can't convert gender identities. Gender identity is just part of the broader gender. Talking about the neurological aspect of gender appeals to biology obsessed transphobes. If that doesn't work then it is obvious that they can't overcome their own BS without some proper cultural force.
The ethical foundation they made wasn't complete by the way, one big standout part was the "humans are equal" where they did not tell us the framework from which they determined this. Equal in what way?
In an abstract and at the very least legal sense is what they are talking about in my opinion. So as another person commented human rights and all that jazz would fall under this category. If you look up "humans are equal framework" the first result is a ~300 document, I can't tell if you want something like that, i haven't read it either, or what specifically they were talking about here but that's my take.
As weird as Caitlin is, I was still DEEPLY in the closet when she transitioned, and I'll never forget my first thought: "this means it might be possible for me one day" I quickly shunned that thought, but it was def there, first and clear as a bell.

His parts are closer to what trans men have after bottom surgery if anything, it resembles the male organ of cisgender human males but its not 'natural' or functional in the same way.
This came up in my recommended but doesn’t show up on the channel page for me

In Sweden we associate the mythologizing of the nation with a female.
Mother land.
In Germany they associate the mythologizing of the nation with a man.
Father land.
We talk about the land as moder Svea.
All my friends kinda make fun of trans, and I don't really wanna get ridiculed cause they will make fun of me, for being pro trans. Though my friends are pro-gay. They arw prolly just confused about trans people, I always kinda use small government argument when I try to convince them to be pro trans.
No, they correctly view the need for preferred pronouns as nonsense
@@bobbun4369 not an excuses to harass them
@@bobbun4369 bruh. Prefered pronouns are just like names. If a person is named Raymond and you insist to call him Bob even after he tells you that you should call him Raymond over and over again. I think he has the right to be angry. Same logic with pronouns.
@@Liliana_the_ghost_catIt’s true. My dad’s name is Samuel but he goes by his middle name, Tom. Imagine someone having the gall to be like “no, I refuse to call you Tom!”
@@simplicitylost yeah. This is ridiculous isn't it?
God damn I love listening to educated ppl talk about stuff :3
Highly reccomend Persona 4, I am probably gonna end up watching all this P4 content from this channel
Lily Orchard helped me get away from this reactive stance towards movies and inclusion, but even back then I knew that there was something odd about her
I think the best way to think about the binary between sex and gender is:
Sex is the biological, and can be further broken down into the primary sex characteristic: gametes, and secondary sex characteristics: forms of gonads and genitalia evolved to best facilitate the propagation of those gametes, average size of body, ratio of body part sizes to the whole body, hairiness, etc.
Galadriel is an adult female elf.
OK, and as I hold the position that A and negation A, then I end up as a deontologist... Funny stuff.
Anime clip reels are the new AMV's
The ethical foundation they made wasn't complete by the way, one big standout part was the "humans are equal" where they did not tell us the framework from which they determined this. Equal in what way?
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights?
In an abstract and at the very least legal sense is what they are talking about in my opinion. So as another person commented human rights and all that jazz would fall under this category.
If you look up "humans are equal framework" the first result is a ~300 document, I can't tell if you want something like that, i haven't read it either, or what specifically they were talking about here but that's my take.
I was raised in the, "being gay is a choice" generation and let's say that's true.
I thought this was America
As weird as Caitlin is, I was still DEEPLY in the closet when she transitioned, and I'll never forget my first thought: "this means it might be possible for me one day"
I quickly shunned that thought, but it was def there, first and clear as a bell.
I used to watch anime content because I thought it was neat to see other people's perspectives on what I would or wouldn't watch.
I don't watch anime very often anymore so I stopped watching anime youtubers. Time is a bitch and I don't have enough to devote to seasonal watching.
