@@FlacoHD did you look at the name on the account?

Sure he was an actor but was he really that talented? Would he have risked his career being an assassin if it was that great? You have to be really talented to be a Karen. Like Whoopi Goldberg who's real name is Caryn Johnson. She is one of just 15 entertainers to an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. Another good example is Emmy-winning television producer Caryn Mandabach. For years she produced both The Cosby Show and Roseanne for competing networks at the same time. Her producing credits include That 70's Show, Third Rock From the Sun and Nurse Jackie.

Javan Ene ik but like why kill Martin Luther king INSTEAD of Hitler?
@@freddieboi4818 Probably because Hitler was already leader of the Nazi party and probably one of the most untouchable people at the time. Whether you believe he killed himself or fled to Argentina, the Allies still weren't able to kill him themselves.
MLK was a different story, as he was a civil rights activist in a time where racial segregation and racism were still strong. The assassination was most likely because he was a black man bringing people together.
All in all, two very separate things.

@@uncharted6197
nope that's in the pandemics list
@@raspberrycrowns9494 Epidemic or not, it's still slaying a lot of people.
First of all, the coronavirus is a pandemic, not a epidemic. Second, a genocide is a completely different from a epidemic/pandemic. A genocide is when a person/people kill people because of their race, religion, etc while a epidemic/ pandemic is a disease that kills lots of people (a pandemic is a killing disease around the world will a epidemic is a killing disease in a certain area of the world). It doesn't matter if the coronavirus is deadly or not, it is not a genocide.

Some folks can't imagina how huge and influential John Lennon was back in the 60's/70's... He was an anti establishment and all-for-peace figure. He was silenced like many others peace figures on this list.
If Teddy Roosevelt didn't survive the association attempt I'm pretty confident they would've changed it to "11 associations in history"
If Franz Ferdinand is not number one, I AM GOING TO do absolutely nothing other than express mild disappointment/disagreement.
Aww come on, his death basically caused the two World Wars! That has influenced the world more than any others!
RogueDemonZ It didn't cause two WW's. Only the first one
Pp N WWI led to WWII. Germany was in debt and desperate, leading to adopt Hitler and Nazism. So the assassination of Franz Ferdinand did basically cause WWII, you could even say it influenced the wars against communism.
RogueDemonZ Following your logic we could track the cause of WW1 down to the Middle Ages. The Nazis and the Germans military rise was because of the Treaty of Versailles, which was too strict and they couldn't live with it. That was the main reason for WW2.
Pp N It is a heavy tie; a catalyst for the wars. And this list is about the assassinations, I believe Franz Ferdinand's death had the most dramatic effect. Now you could say that Caesar's death might have actually made a bigger difference, but only because that event's butterfly effect has lasted two millenia.
This for a top 10? Fucking hell MoJo. Bad fucking taste there.
"counting down our picks for Top 10 Assassinations in History" serious, this choice is just disgusting.

I dont agree. You are being way too sensetive. This was not a problem before you pointed it out. I enjoyed the video and i found it intrestning.
yeah i think that they could have titled it "top 10 people who were assassinated" and that would have made it more tasteful i think
***** Being sensitive? Hardly, i just find this both disrespectful of those who were killed and in bad taste.

3. John F Kennedy
4. Abraham Lincoln

6. Ghandi
7. Martin Luther King Jr.
8. Louis Mountbatten
9. Malcom X
10. John Lennon
I agree with everything except Kennedy before Lincoln. Lincoln was the first president (US) to be assassinated, and I think his death meant a greater deal more than Kennedy's.
Sophie Tenquist I think that President Kennedy's death was a lot more traumatic for the people of the nation because they got to see the footage of it and be updated in real time. Im sure that there were lots of people staying tuned to their radios and TV's, constantly listening for updates. Kinda like CNN's 24-hour coverage of flight MH370. (Except nobody was watching that after the first week)
How is that a correct list? I don't agree with that list.
Quinton Doucet Well, Franz Ferdinand's assassination sparked WWI, which was resolved with the Treaty of Versailles. The Treaty of Versailles was choking the life out of Germany, which led to Hitler and the Nazis taking power, which led to WWII. WWII Split Europe into two different regions, East and West. And, Indirectly, this schism in the continent of Europe led to the rise of teh Soviet Union to become a super-power, which spawned the cold was, which was comprised of numerous proxy wars.
The death of Julius Caesar led to a new wave of political ideology that persists to this day.
The Death of President John Kennedy rose tensions in teh cold war even higher than before, and was a nation-wide tragedy. For a long time after his death, the world was watching to see what would happen next.
Stealth Clown I know my history. I'm saying that since he doesn't agree with this list it is completely wrong and that his list is completely right. Like who has a right list? This person's list should not just be considered correct because he made it.
You guys realize this isn't ranking The "totally awesome super fun cool list of assassinations that we thought were totally epic and cool". This is a list of positive, influential figures who were taken away from this earth at a way early time by another being and thus caused an impact throughout the world and history itself. If you are offended by this you are completely childish and 90% of you aren't even watching the video fully, you're just judging off the title.
Here here. This man speaks justice. Most people are too dumb to listen to the first 20 sec of the video when they say this are rated from less to most influentials.
Haha, true, but i guess watchmojo couldn't exactly title the video "Top 10 positive, influential figures who were taken away from this earth at a way early time by another being and thus caused an impact throughout the world and history itself."
MadMagician Are you crazy?!?!? people would be whinning about the tittle being too long...
The comment section always floods with butthurt hostility any time WatchMojo.com tackles subjects of legitimate historical importance. My gods, the conservative outcry when they listed the most influential events was almost sickening.
Exactly its talking about there impact
I like how they removed "Top"
Remember what George Carlin said
“Have you ever noticed who it is we kill? Most of the time it’s people who have told us to live together in harmony and try to love one another, Jesus, Gandhi, Lincoln, John Kennedy, Bobby Kennedy, Martin Luther king, medger Evers, Malcom X, John Lennon. They all said try to live together peacefully…BAM right in the fucking head.”
"History" seems to have occurred mainly in the U.S.A. in recent years.
Many Americans don't know any other aspects of history, so...
....time they learned how to learn.
True though, when you put out a title like this you expect something else.
All the UFO sightings and landing happens only in the USA too, may be Aliens like the capitalism I guess.

I think you should have titled this video. "The 10 Most Influential Assassinations in History"
Or top 10 most shocking assassinations in history
Or maybe not be so butthurt.
How is John Lennon more Influential than the Archduke's death
or "Top 10 most butt-hurt UA-cam comments"
VonSucky McFaggoty
more influential to American society perhaps. While the Archeduke's death was certainly influential, it was merely a link in the chain of events. Numerous analyses of the year the world went mad show it would have happened anyway, even without his assassination. The great empires were falling, and the Concert of Europe was no longer able to maintain stability.
What a killer video bro
Philip's assassin was paid by the Persians his weight in gold, because Athens and Sparta had many problems the only who could stop Persian Empire from conquering Greece was Macedonia
Franz Ferdinand should be no.1 it's the one of the most important moments of the 20th century
Agreed
Agreed
+Kaiser Franz Josef I Agreed
+Kaiser Franz Josef I mahatma gandhi is perfect no1
+Kaiser Franz Josef I Caesar should be 1.
The list in the right order
*#1* Archduke Ferdinand - Immediately resulted in one of the largest blood baths in world history.
*#2* Julius Caesar - Significantly changed the political spectrum
*#3* JFK - America (the world's largest superpower at the time) went to crap after his assassination. Start of when America was really put into fear and really began US police state is some ways.
*#4* Gandhi - Important historical figure who showed that change can come through peace. His death was sad and a lot of people gathered but his movement was still successful. His death didn't have any world changing impacts other than the loss of a great man.
*#5* MLK - More significant than Lincoln and less significant than JFK in terms of assassination effects on America. In a lot of ways his movement was a big success but if he stayed around a bit longer he could've had an even bigger impact.
*#6* Lincoln - Sure he had a large role in keeping the country together. However towards his death the country was already in the process of becoming normal and stabilized again.
*#7* Benazir Bhutto - Death lead to destabilization of the area at the time and showed that Al Queda was still a threat to people living in Northern Africa.
*#8* Malcolm X - Significantly important part of history but King was much more successful especially since he Malcolm was much more aggressive. No large historical event really took place after his death.
*#9* John Lennon - While extremely popular and one of the first people you think of when it comes to assassinations, John's death slightly effected the music industry but only at the time.
*#10* Phillip II of Macedon - Honestly don't know much about Phillip II.
***** it could of happened but ww1 only started because Archduke Ferdinand driver turned the wrong corner leading to the dukes assassination
leading to world war 1 so it could of been avoided but ww1 would of definitely started later on if he never got shot plus world war 1 was where hitler fought in so if the duke never got shot hitler would not of gained power and there would of been no world war 2 but without these 2 wars we will have more people on earth than now
schuyler orr the fucker who killed him was buying a sandwich at the time so that was of pure luck
soilder247 the person had multiple assassination attempts but failed until the 1914 attempt
***** I think you meant the Balkans. Ferdinand's assassination is the result of decades-long anxiety in that region. World War I as a whole is the result of pretty much everything that happened in the previous century (balance of powers, alliances, imperialism, military technology, nationalism).
Supreme Leader No it's an execution. The Roman Empire executed him for disturbing the peace of Rome and civil unrest, the Jewish council condemned him to death for breaking their laws. The crucifixion was good old fashioned crime and punishment
Thank you watchmojo
I remember the assassination of Benazir Bhutto I was less than 10 y.o at the time and those days are so clear in my head even today. It was scary !!!
she was killed by a plot by the military. right?
The Archduke's death set WWI in motion, in turn planting the seeds for WWII and the great Cold War. Far and away the most far reaching assassination in world history.
But he was lower because he himself wasn't an influential person. Only his death was influential
He was the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne. One of the most influential and powerful nations on the earth at that time.
stevesb97 That is true. Can't believe it wasn't no.1.
Thank you, I was waiting for that comment... How can you put John Lennon before the assassination who caused millions of deaths ? I'm french, and I think (I'm JUST thinking) that in America, you don't realize how WWI was brutal and awful in Europe, that you only think about your personal history and the assassinations that concern you (even though you took part to WWI) and I don't understand how you can put the assassination of a singer before this one....
***** There was alot of tension at the time yes. but it wouldnt have ended in a world war if it wasnt for that murder. It would have ended is alot of smaller wars like there have been before. then ww2 wouldnt have happened cause hitler would never have gotten the national support that he had gotten cause of germany`s defeat. then nato wouldnt have been made cause they were made cause of ww2. then Wernher von Braun wouldnt have made it to the U.S.A and then russia would have made it to the moon first or more likely germany. Then albert einstein and niels bohr wouldnt have fled to the U.S.A and the atomic bomb (if it was still going to be build cause that was also cause of ww2) would have been german. Who knows how the world had looked today if he hadnt died when he did. even if you say that it was only the final spark needed. maybe without that spark all this wouldnt have happened. the rest of the assassinations things would have changed maybe even major things. but nothing to be compared to Ferdinand. He`s assassination was simply the most important in history maybe even one of the most important moments in our history.

Mahatma helped us to grab the independence but he did not gave it to us
Given that the death of Franz Ferdinand started the first world war, his assassination may be the most important in the 20th century. I say that largely because the first world war was the beginning of the modern world as we know it. The idea that war is a bad thing, rather than merely a tool that a nation may use to achieve its goals, didn't become mainstream until that war. Without the treaty of Versailles that ended the first world war, it's entirely probable that the second world war would never have happened. Without the second world war, Britain would have remained a global superpower and America would never have become one. Given how much of modern technology was developed during second world war and the cold war that followed, one can only wonder what kind of world we would live in today had Franz Ferdinand not been assassinated.
these are facts
That's why he was #1 on the top ten political assassinations of the 20th Century...
America would eventually have become a superpower...just a little later. Britains power would have simply died away slowly. Weimar and the Soviet Union would have been the unpredictable factors.
Parker8752 despite the assassination starting WW1, if it didn't happen. Ww1 would've still happened. The tension in Europe was very large because of Moroccan crisis, Bosnian Crisis and the naval arms race etc. The assassination is what made it all topple down. The assassination gave Austria a reason to attack Serbia giving Russia, Germany, Britain and France a reason to attack each over in a large domino effect. Something was gonna push the first domino and trigger ww1 eventually
Charlie Dove "trigger" is the correct word
If only Martin Luther King was alive today..........we need a good speech in a cold world we live in......
Malcolm X should have been in #2.
Kevan Jackson Yeah.
GoldXrose Yeah.
He'd be dead by now, even if he survived his assassination.
Yoshifan0312RBLX I know.
6 years later and it shows up on UA-cam recommendations
*lmao, I noticed they changed the title...*
Right
Rip Martin Luther King Jr 😭
Quincy Jones Faceboy9gaming happy 9/11
Deliverance - bruh lmfao
Deliverance - edgy = funny
You mean all on the list
@Jordan why?
How did John Lennon beat Sir Francis Ferdinand? Well, I guess music beats two world wars.
+Nicolas “Shun” Gama ferdinand's death had nothing to do with ww2
+Jenn Marie Well Ferdinand's death caused WW1, and the treaty of versailles after WW1 caused WW2, so you could say Ferdinand's death caused both wars
AlfexTwin what the hell
Jenn Marie Yeah I know
Jenn Marie If Ferdinand wasn't shot, then WW1 wouldn't of occurred, and neither would have Hitler and his Reich, which caused WW2.
add Chris Hani and Steve Biko to the list also memorable learders of all time
Now include:
The Assassination of Shinzo Abe.
An eye for eye only ends up making the whole world blind.

For those saying Lennon shouldn't even be on the list, here's some things for you to consider.
He was one of THE BIGGEST influences in music history, along with the rest of The Beatles. Not only with The Beatles was he influential though, but with his solo music. He's inspired many people, and his what about 'Imagine'? A BIG influence.
Plus, he's a very big inspirational figure even nowadays. When he was assassinated, people who didn't even really KNOW what he was all about were devastated.
Not only his music, but campaigns were respected as well.
"War Is Over! If You Want It?"
"Hair Peace"
Teens on social media quote him to be inspirational all the time! If he wasn't all that popular, or if he doesn't deserve to be on the list, why do people still cry over his death? Why do people still try to carry out what he believed?
Lennon's death was very influential in history. No doubt about it.
Preach
Beatles suck ass
***** A'ight, everyone has their own opinions, man.
yes he was important, but John Lennons death wasn't assassination. he wasn't a politician, he was a singer. so he shouldn't be on this list.
+Dizzy Stone Why does everyone important have to be a politician?

Watch mojo : top 10 assassinations
Me : u gotta be kidding me
Amazing how WatchMojo found footage of Julius Caesar's assassination
we all know that Bayek's ex wife Aya of Alexandria but at this time she was known as Amunet
The inclusion of John Lennon on this list shows that there are too many 14 year old girls on watchmojo's website that worship the Beatles. The fact that John Lennon surpassed Franz Ferdinand made me cringe even more.
I don't think that 14 year Olds from today listed to his music
He should not be nr one, the assasination of Franz Ferdinand should be. It started the first world war where 17 million people died
I think creating something be it great music, a great idea, or a glorious life for yourself and others is a much greater achievement than inadvertently starting a war.
Um how old are you? Most 14 year old girls today barley know who John Lennon is
More like, just too many idiots
Benazir Bhutto stayed in a Hotel where I was working security, she hired me and another guy to escort her to a conference she was speaking at. We all went in the same limo. We were placed on different sides of the stage, hidden by curtains. She seemed very pleasant. I was very young, maybe 22, and I was unaware of the danger she was in. I was also blissfully ignorant of the danger I was putting myself in!
I saw this list name on a C.I.A Commemorative meeting where they gave their top 10 best kills. Not sure it also fits watchmojo
