    “I’m shocked by the complete disregard for my laziness” is one of the better quotes I’ve heard in the past few years 😂
    Awesome content! Your production quality is still improving with every release and I love the background music in this video. Super cool project, too! 😃👍

      Thank you. I’m really glad to hear that. Motivates me to make more and better videos 😊

    One thing I've had good luck with us using mineral oils on the parts. It seems to kind of soak in and make those surface imperfections more transparent. Also great for sanding. I will say, having to polish the printed ones is almost as much work as the real damn stones.

      Ah that sounds interesting as well. Thanks 😃

    This is one fine example of MIL - More is Less. Since such a simple shape could have been manufactrued with much simpler traditional tools and better outcome. For instance making a mold and casting it. Or just machining a piece of acrylic. All at a much better cost/benefit ratio. But since some of your info can be applied to parts that profit from STL it may be okay. Nice video.

      I think you're right in general. That's probably true for a lot of 3d printed things. However, it's possible to do so many things with a 3d printer, which I find very fascinating.
      For me it was well worth it to explore the limits.
      I would definitely like to try to create a mold for it. However, it's kind of a difficult part to cast with simple molds because every direction will have an undercut. But I also don't have any experience with casting; maybe there's good ways to do it.
      And I don't have any tools for machining acrylic. But I guess that would have the same issues with becoming cloudy by machining it.

    I hate it when the quality of a project has a total disregard for my laziness.

    Put a current limiting resistor in series with that LED. See how it works with a 1K ohm

    My first reaction was "that's a nice printer lid." but my second was "hey, that's a big cat!"

    with the LED the green crystals look like kryptonite. LOL.
    Good work, great tips.

    put tritium vials in the crystals :)

    I think the led should be covered and at the Edge, that whay it will shine but would not be easy to notice that it's a led inside

    • @matoumakes
      @matoumakes  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah. The mount I'm wearing at the end actually hides about 2/3 of the LED. I still kinda like seeing a little of it.

    As always a very cool video. I really wonder how this would look like if you build the crystal in brilliant shape: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brilliant_(diamond_cut)
    I heared that this shape is optimized for maximal light effect.

      I didn’t know that. Think I’m gonna try it out.

    If you get good results from "submerging" the item in the resin, why not leave them wet straight from the printer and put them straight into the curing box?
    I don't know the chemistry, maybe theres another important reason to clean the model before curing, but it's definitely a trick I'd try.

    • @matoumakes
      @matoumakes  3 роки тому

      I should try that. It’s a bit hard to remove the parts without disturbing the wet surface and getting ugly scratches and stuff on it. But there’s probably a way to do it.

    Couldn't you just cure it without bathing it in IPA?

    • @matoumakes
      @matoumakes  3 роки тому +1

      I haven’t tried it, yet. I think that might be worth a shot 👍🏻
      I just have to be careful not to damage the wet coat then.

    You can have it fast but it wont be good, you can wait and it will be great..... Just a fact

    Found this video just in time. I'm going to make a windshield for a car I'm printing and I want the windshield to be clear. Gonna have to give these methods a try. BTW, what's the cat's name? Thanks!

      @matoumakes  3 роки тому +1

      Cool! Good luck with the windshield. Hope it works!
      The cat is called Ragnar 😃

    What happens if you dip them 2 part epoxy and hang them upside down to cure?

    • @matoumakes
      @matoumakes  3 роки тому

      I think that would be very similar to the 3d printing resin coat. Except it would take a lot longer to cure

      @@matoumakes I thought part of the problem might be due to the UV curing process.

    • @matoumakes
      @matoumakes  3 роки тому

      Maybe. I could try that

    Hi, do you have a model of modular 3d printed Hydroponic Tower garden ? Thanks

    • @matoumakes
      @matoumakes  3 роки тому

      Well, I have two hydroponic projects: ua-cam.com/video/FEDWGKrZ9ns/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/2em0Q3HlyuI/v-deo.html
      Links to the 3d models for these projects are in the respective video descriptions.
      I never built a modular system myself. But quite a few people uploaded such things on thingiverse: www.thingiverse.com/search?q=modular+hydroponic&type=things&sort=relevant
