- i've been really enjoying balatro and a couple of other roguelikes/lites recently. this was a pretty fun run that i had that i wanted to share. i probably won't be uploading too many more runs, might just keep this to a stream game though.

The biggest thing I've learned while playing is that steel cards are a trap unless you have the one joker that gives Xmult for steel cards in your deck. They are applied before all of your jokers so you basically only get them applied to the base value of the hand. 10/10 game BTW

It's a "simple" game with a high skill ceiling, and a very nice art style with great sound design. You can tell the dev put a lot of passion into it.
Flashy colors + big number go bigger + datto perfect entertainment + long videos too
If this looks fun to you, you should play Balatro. Balatro is a bit like eating an entire cake alone, but without the crushing regret and risk of diabetes.
This game has its hooks in me. NL is the goat for bringing all the much deserved attention to this game. +2 in the chat
Keep in mind for Blue Joker you never get it's full potential, each card you draw lowers the amount of chips it gives

I'm so glad you uploaded the first vid on balatro and I choose to watch a video about a random game I never heard of because I really enjoyed the vid and the game seemed fun. I bought it on release and man this game is so good. It is so simple and so complex at the same time and super satisfying when you just keep hearing the jokers proc.

The Blue Joker gets worse the more you have to fish through your deck for Queens so the mult was probably better.

I have a love/hate relationship with Balatro so far. lol
It feels like the boss blinds in the latter half of the antes are handcrafted to fuck you in this game. The roguelike aspects of this game are a lot more subtle than in most of the genre. You unlock different kinds of jokers and decks to use during the game, but there isn’t anything that directly improves your performance per run. The cards that appear in the shop aren’t really based off your run either. I had a run where I focused on flushes with spades, and all the tarot cards I had appear would change cards to every other suit. The jokers were a similar situation. It was aggravating. lmao
It’s still really fun though. I’d thoroughly recommend this game.
