@@CalvaryHillCrusader23 . I had about given up on Hip Hop until I too found Tom last year. I can't get enough of him. His music has changed my outlook on life and trying to be more positive. I also found this dude 2 days ago that I'm really enjoying too. His name is Cal Scruby. I haven't come across one of his songs I don't like yet. He reminds me of a cross between Tom and Jack Harlow. He's worth checking out.👍
This song hit me hard. I was a raging alcoholic but I finally got sober. After I commented below, soon after everything changed. I got my family back. My kids have told me many times how proud they are of me and that they forgive me. They know that I am doing my best. When my son’s team lost their playoffs, I sent my son a text from this song. “Son, I know you did your best. I know there’s more to you than the wars you lose, you’ll see.” Thank you for giving those words. Through this song, I finally found a way to forgive myself for all that I have done. I now have the ability to be the father I want to be without the shame. I cannot understate how your work helped me. One day, when things are going wrong, I want you to remember that YOUR work brought this broken old man back from a bad place. I can’t help but think God will bless you as you blessed me.
you mean like back when music was good and had a point and passion? not just "ive got money and cars and i need attention for it to validate my own self worth bullshit"?
Apparently Snow tha product is getting a lot of hype but she ain't saying shit that ain't been said a thousand times and she is getting all the tats to symbolize that she is bought and paid for. We need more artists like Nova and Tom who are a product of their upbringing, not a plastic rapper in a plastic wrapper spitting bullshit 🤘🤘
@@dannyb3663 Let me explain it so you can understand it a bit easier... She sang that song with amazing feeling and no not everyone can do that. Singing alone is not a talent everyone possess but when someone can sing it with such feeling that the person listening feels it so deeply is RARE. Calm down Karen
I’m a fifty year old women that just started listening to you and Tom...I’m bawling like a baby listening to this song...I married, had children and got Divorced young ... my kids tell me they know I did my best, but as a parent you always feel you could’ve done better...thank you for this great song!! I wish nothing but the best for you and Tom...you two are a little power couple!!!
This is actually about her family. She wrote it after her father died in the accident. Then her grandmother died of Parkinson's a week before they shot the video. She's since sat on this song and video for a while not sure she was ready to be an artist again. She was signed to the music label Def Jam and her big dream turned into a nightmare. I'm happy she's sharing her art again, and her and Tom together are building an empire. This song makes me cry so much.
Wow. It's dusty as heck in here. This really hits home. I used to resent my dad for working 16-hour days and never being around. Until later in life, when I realized he was just doing this to keep food on our table. He worked hard and long and left us way too soon.
I hear that... I’m glad I was able to tell him how much I appreciated everything he did for us before he got hit with Parkinson’s really hard this past year... you don’t know until you know, you just hope it’s not to late
Ugh. This made me tear up. My husband works the second shift and if I didn't homeschool our son he'd never see his dad. I'm glad you understand your dad loved you and that's why he worked so hard. ❤
Sorry for your loss. My Dad was never home either. He was trying to build a company to give us when we got older. He put his life into that company before a bigger company killed his dreams.
I am one of those dad's , especially in today's context there is no choice but to do the only job that is available which is driving food delivery gig jobs (3) for 14-17 hrs a day just to make sure the bills are being met. I am glad you have come to an understanding that your father was doing it to keep your family afloat. I sure wish as a Chef de Cuisine that I was not in a place where I have to spend my days delivering late night fast food orders, but it is what it is.

I know a lot of people who need to hear that quote right now...as soon as I'm out of fakebook jail it's getting posted, of course with full credit to Nova, since I found Tom MacDonald early last year I haven't gone back to the mainstream garbage, my mind has been much clearer since
Nova, I’m 63, my Naval-pilot dad was killed in a passenger MAC flight when I was 12. Mom was diagnosed w/ MS in the 80s. She died in ‘99. I’m here to tell you “there’s more to YOU than the wars you lose,” too!! The pain of that trauma will never leave - but love makes it bearable!! God bless you & Tom!!♥️
But no music is.. fake? Some is less meaningful, sure. But it has its audience. This is okay, but I prefer more clever lyrics tbh. Its pretty basic. Still, it has its audience.
@@billysnider4824 are you comparing political misinformation to.. music without meaningul lyrics? Do music have to have lyrics to be "real music"? Can it be instrumental only? Id also like to mention that while this song is decent, most genres have songs with meaningful lyrics. You not enjoying something doesnt make it less real music lol. My grandma wouldnt call this song real music, as an example.
Started listening to their music a lot within the last few months. I think they speak a lot of truth and I've been obsessing over how great their music is. I want to share it with everyone but not everyone agrees with some of the content... Either way, this song is now one of my favorites.
I have no idea how a 56 year old guy stumbled on this song today. As I sit here in tears at my office getting ready to go back to sit with my dying mother I want to thank you.
*hugs dear. Sorry for the hard time... You really want to follow Tom macdonald and Nova Rockafeller.. and you are gopnna have a range of emotion... these are IMO some of the last REAL ppl left.. #hog
Well, now I've got to add Nova to the growing list of artists I unfortunately had no idea were out there. Seriously, how is it that the radio seems to be filled with garbage when there is talent like this out there. So glad I have come across your music. You are amazing keep it up!
They refused to be signed by a label. Nova was signed by Def Jam records but got screwed over."hey you" by Nova is a track just for them and its amazing. Tom wrote the chorus for it and produced the whole thing.
Listening to this song makes me cry, but in a healing way. It actually helps me let go of a lot of the bitterness I have toward my parents. There were a lot of things they did that hurt me, some things even that might have been abusive-but it helps to step back and take a look at the bigger picture. I know that they always loved me, and that they did their best with what they had, even if they weren’t perfect. All of us make mistakes. We’re only human.
Same.Song my philosophy. I don't hold things against my family. As I aged, I made my own mistakes - a light went on. Know my families backgrounds (childhoods). They did better than what they endured. Like you said - we all make mistakes. Extend them grace like we need for our screw ups. So many expect perfect parents, grandparents, siblings, children, friends. No one can fulfill that.
*hugs* dear.. I understand more than you might think.. you need to cling to the light, the love that they did give. Every one of us is messed up.. but did their best...
This song breaks my heart. Both my parents were addicts. Raised by my grandparents. My grandfather died unexpectedly, and i never got to have that sit down talk with him. This literally brought me to tears. Love you Nova, Tom. God bless yall
I have watched Tom’s videos and was curious of who she was as an artist. This is the first song I heard and it had me crying. I love that they are both working together on their own to achieve their dreams. You don’t see this in artists. Couples are called power couples but you don’t see them working together the way Nova and Tom do. Much love and respect for both.❤️❤️❤️
"Power couples" in Hollywood always seem to be popular couples at the moment. They never last, are never together, or support each other. Nova & Tom are on another level.
Girl!!! That first part did me in. My oldest son was diagnosed with autism......at 3 years old, he functioned at a 9 month old level. I accepted that he would always be with me until he was an adult, that he would never get married or have a job and I was ok with that. He passed away in 2015 at 6 years old. I try to stay strong for my other kids but it's hard. Thank you for pouring your heart out into this one. ❤
Of my four sons, two of them have autism. It's not easy, but we love them greatly. If we were to lose them, our hearts would shatter. My heart goes out to you for your loss.
Im autistic as well, along with daughter. She is 3 and not at the verbal stage she should be. We worry constantly and sometimes it feels like she wont get there, but me and daddy help keep each others spirits up. So sorry for your loss of your beautiful son.
So sorry for your lost... YOUR message did me in. One autistic son. Lost another one as well. We are not strong as they think we are, we are just surviving and make do... we do our best. Sending hugs.
Sorry for your loss. I love how my friend say about her autistic child . She is a butterfly with different wings , still just as magical and beautiful she just fly different then the rest of us
Same dude. Like I'll listen to other rappers, but its few and far between. I like music that has actual meaning behind the songs, and what these 2 can put out is much better than most I've heard from signed artists.
Holy shit. The dad who became a average Joe to keep his family supported and the old lady suffering part of the song really really impressed me. I love so much how you gave something so positive to people like that who spend every day battling reality. This is something that really means alot to me. Thank you.
@klak rudego yeah because they're real talk. Brainwashed and politically incorrect spits lyrics that hits the entire world in the gut so hard it pisses them off until they're boo hoo like b*$#@&$
Right? I'm 51 years old. Veteran. Have struggled with demons my entire adult life. Manged to be a faithful husband, and a roll model to my now 30yo son. However, I succumbed to the evil and drank myself to death in 2021. I was resuscitated, given new blood, and haven't drank since. This song hits home, and is very humbling. I had held animosity towards my parents spending their money on cigarettes rather than their home. Dad is dead now, and mom is on oxygen 24x7. I had a great childhood without abuse. WTF was wrong with me for being angry? They did their best, and don't have shit to prove to me. Miss ya Dad. I'm now trying to be a better man every day, and will follow the path of Christ until my last breath. I hope someday, my son will feel I have nothing left to prove, and that my beautiful wife will forgive me for drinking and nearly making her a young widow.
This really hit home. Being adopted my birth father's family received the letter I was looking for them the day they came home from his funeral. He had told them about me and they had been trying to find me for years, and I was told the biggest regret he had was not fighting for me ! Great Job Nova, keep keeping it real ! Live life without regrets !
I can really relate to you. I was adopted as a toddler. The day my dad found out where I lived he had buried my mom the day before. I never got to say goodbye. But piece will come with time. Hurt will never go away. For me at least. It just moves behind other things
My dad had a son before he met my mom, he told us about our brother and we all tried finding him on social media for years. It wasn't until my dad's funeral that we met our distant brother. He was very upset with my dad as he assumed he never tried to find him. When my dad passed away, his ex was told and she finally told us where our brother was.
I came here as a Tom Macdonald fan knowing that Nova does all his music vids and is his girlfriend. Wow! Can I just say I am blown away and was not expecting this to hit home so much. Thank you for putting out something so heart wrenching and I can't wait to see where your music takes you next! Keep up the great work Nova!
Yesterday was my dads 83 birthday he has Párkinson and is recovering from Covid, we thought he was not going to make it and I let him know how wonderful he made my life and 2 brothers that he should have zero regrets as he is the best dad I could have asked for, just found this after listening to Tom and wow it hit home. I just pray I am doing the best I can for my 18 year old son as he is my world.
My Grandmother died of Parkinson's this past November. This song has me sobbing. Thank you for giving words to my feelings and finally getting me to left the grief out.
My Dad did too... I never got a chance to be there to help care for him.. I was adopted really little and didn't do a family search until 6 years ago and by the time I found him he had passed away just days before I reunited with my family
@Marianne Lynn Latjow I am so sorry for your lose. Can’t imagine growing up without my wonderful but flawed father. My Daddy died last year at 88. I am 60 and I hear his voice constantly. Nobody nobody I want my Daddy.
@@iamjustsaying4787 I'm very sorry for you losing your father. The first years are hardest but then you learn to live again. Yet they're always with us. Maybe next time you hear him, answer back. You may be surprised at the response
My husband died on 4-4-16, at 33 years old. Our daughters were 3 and 4 at the time. I have done everything that I can to show them videos, pictures, and tell them my memories. Even though he died very early, I still want our children to know what a happy and healthy relationship looks/looked like. We were a happy and loving family. Even though he is no longer physically here, I use our memories together to set "expectations of what to look for in a partner" for our daughter's future.
@@soozieq697 they're lucky they have that to remember their father with for you to remember your husband with a very sorry that you lost him so young that's rough that's really rough. My mom died when she was 39 so I've known death since I was old enough to understand what it was. And I remember that day that I did understand. I was four
Out of thousands of likes and comments, I doubt that you'll see this, but just in case, I'd like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart (to both you and Tom). Thank you for the much needed words you share. Thank you for the messages. Your words speak to me and so many. Mucho love from Northern Arizona. 🙏❤
This is really something. Should have a tissue disclaimer before it starts. I haven't cried like this since my daughter died. This just tore down my asshole wall i always keep up. Good job, your truly an amazing artist
Nova, God bless you for making this song. My mom who loved music, never used it to bless and minister to her family, she could have and I wish she had spoken those words to me "I know you did your best". I have recently been struggling with feeling art was a selfish path to take and just seems like it just sucked all the resources out of people because even though I have published a book I am not ashamed of, I have not yet reached the goals I hoped to nor the people I hoped and still hope to. My spouse confronted me with the opposite and alternative to a world without art is in fact barbaric or barbarity. This song is so encouraging to me. I can't help but create. People, more people need to hear this truth and acknowledgement from those around them. Its far to easy to tear down those we grow close to or think we know and rather than spend and invest the time and observance to the efforts of the people around us. I am glad you seek to invest this. Your words from your heart here shine a beauty much needed. Thank you for being you!
I really relate to this…. I’ve come to the conclusion that I am compelled to create constantly lest I destroy myself and the good in anyone else around me if I don’t. It’s how I heal myself and the world I’m in. ❤
“There’s more to you than the wars you lose” Very amazing words that validates all of us, especially those that circumstances have crushed their hopes.
I've listened to every genre of music from Simon and Garfunkel, to Metallica, guns and roses, mc hammer, Marilyn Manson and em, and i just have to say in all honesty, based on my past this is the most relatable song I've ever heard. You deserve all the accolades for this one song, thank you.
I have been listening to nothing but old country music tom and nova are the only other music artists whose music hits the heart like a sad old country song
Yeah, like you, I've listened to nearly every single genre. Turning 52 on Saturday and I love the fact that I can add her and Tom's music to my frequent playlists! The lyrics "connect", the sound is fresh, and yet there is enough variety in styles that I can have them on for a while and it doesn't get old. I just learned about them fairly recently; thanks to Tom's song, "Snowflake". There is a lot of talent between them two!
Nova and Thomas thank U so much 4 helping us with your music get through this cancer crap. It’s all my wife will listen to at chemotherapy and every single patient LOVES this song, especially
This moved me, my mom had a pill addiction and recovered from it for me. Stood with my dad to battle our way out of low income. Then she got diagnosed with RSD and a few years ago it caused her to fall and hit her head dislodging her brain. I no longer lived at home and made it back in time for when they took her off life support. I held her hand in those last moments and was able to tell her thank and I knew she did her best.
Sh me definitely did more than her best. You can be so so proud of her and she is proud of you for being so caring and loving. Be strong dear and DO YOUR BEST.💖🙏🏼
This made me think of my grandfather. He raised me because my dad left. Most powerful man I ever have and ever will know. Now he's 66 and I'm 16. He worked himself to death to take care of me and now he can't even take a shower by himself. Now it's my turn to take care of him. Idk why I shared this but this song made me think about it, I cried my eyes out. Thankyou for this amazing song.
I'm a 40 year old man and taking care of my 91 year old grandfather who has always been there for me. This song just had me balling like a baby too bro.
23 taking care of my dad 43. Broken back, femur, and I'm not sure what neurological impact chemo hasn't left. We got this bro. You're a solid guy; and when shit really sucks, it's up to us to keep going forward. Even if that means taking a step back.
Love your post. I'm 50 and I wish my dad would of left, sometime when they stay its worse glad u had him. I love you taking over because he give all. I think its great ur willing to give it all back
Nova, you just brought tears to my eyes. This hits home, for my dad-in-law died because of Parkinson's a month ago. He was a great, generous man.....a dad to me when I needed one. In a way, this song will be a memorial song of him to me.
Feel you. My mother in law passed from Parkinson's 10 days ago. Been part of my life for over 20 years and integral in my boys' lives living 5 minutes away. Been a rough couple of weeks
My daughter played this for me because I have PTSD really bad from service and the part where the wars you lose and you don't have to prove yourself to be had me in tears and she held me,,, thank you nova,... I do have something left
"There's more to you than the wars you lose." Talk about lyricism.... Really a gorgeous line. Nova you killed it, I love the work you and Tom do. I'm excited to hear more from you.
I lost my mom in January and this song is amazing.makes me cry everytime. She was a single mom of 6 kids and didnt get help from anyone.she was the strongest most independent woman I've ever seen. She gave up everything to raise us up right.she was amazing.i miss her so much.we will meet again up in the clouds.i love u mom.RIP😇🙏🍀UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN💚❤
Damn Nova, making a grown man tear up over here. This is one of those songs that I believe that everyone needs to hear right now. And I'm one of those people. 21 years of solitude and loneliness on top of 2020 being the biggest kick in the balls. Life is hard but being alive and trying my best is better than the fate of many in the world right now. Thank you Nova!
Immortal Technique, Diabolic, Sadistik, Jedi Mind Tricks, Eminem, KNO, Cunninlynguists and more. They have much deeper meanings in songs and some songs are way beyond More thoughtful in the lyrical ability than what this woman and her man can do, Just saying.
@@ryanh4145 yo that's mad disrespectful. Idgaf what other artists do. I like what Nova and Tom do as a team together. I like their style and their message. They put themselves in their songs. And incase you didn't notice, this song is about Novas family...
"There's more to you, than the wars you lose, you'll see." Damn straight! Whatever you're going through, however you may be feeling. It gets better. Even if it feels absolutely hopeless and you're sick of trying and you want to just break down and give in. Never give up. You have to keep fighting. You are worth it, your life has purpose and you have every reason to keep going! Stay strong 💪
@Damien Dingus "pist" (unless you're trying to say "psst"... Lol) isn't a word, and "god" and the "devil" are fictional characters. You're having a war with yourself... It's time to stop blaming everything on fantasies. When things go poorly or someone screws you over, blame the people screwing you over, or blame yourself. Period.
Wish everything were that easy, or that simple. It's not. Just because that's the way you view life, that doesn't mean everyone else can or should. Inspirational messages are all fine and dandy, but some people will NEVER see the light, because their situation doesn't allow them to.
People fear emotions. This deserves more views like "Hey you". Nobody want's to face their pain. It's evident. After you said it was about your family it struck different. Life is hard asf. You and Tom kill it though.
@@jackiethompson3610 I'm Justin's wife, so I'm the mommy not the daddy. When my daughter sees me cry, over a movie, over a hard day, she rubs my cheek and gives me a kiss, and I tell her mommy's fine, and I tell her why I'm sad and that its gonna be okay, it's okay to be sad sometimes. Pain is a part of life, sometimes even the best parts. Character, change, these things are birthed from pain. I cant protect my daughter forever, but I can make her feel safe to express herself honestly, and to understand pain isnt something to avoid, you cant see the view of the mountaintop with the harsh climb up.
My Dad died at 60 yrs old 30 yrs ago. He grew up in the thirties in a large Family . He was the oldest .He wanted to go to school . But because he was the oldest he had to go to work very young. His brothers got their education and had successful careers while he had to slave away working in small town Papermill along side with racist a holes. I I never got to say 'I knew you did your best' but I did say I love you before he died . Appreciate your Parents they did their best.
I lost my dad almost four years ago. It was two days before father's day. He could barely speak by that point so I asked my Mom if I wrote a letter to him if she would read it too him for Father's Day. (I couldn't be with him because of lack of finances and childcare) Sadly, he passed before I could pour my heart out to him. Like you, I did get to tell him that I loved him a few hours before he went unconscious. Miss him so much... 😔
I grew up with my mother, who had NPD, ( narcissists personality disorder), she abused me in every way . I didn't know why, but I knew she had an awful childhood too. We fought eachother constantly, and I skipped state at age 16, before she killed me. Now at age 44, and just out of an abusive 16 year relationship from hell, ( I was moved state and was locked on a house for 4 years by my ex.), I basically had to live thru what she did, to understand her, and how she got her personality disorder , ( from childhood ptsd too, I have BPD - borderline personality disorder). I haven't seen her or any of my family for nearly 5 years now. I've had 9 months to process the damage done to me, and am finally living life !!! I slipped thru the system here, got no psychological help as promised , but I have healed myself, basically!! My goal is to go home, and have a much needed heart to heart with my mother before she passes. I pray I'm not too late 😓😓😓💝💝💝
I wasn't expecting to fall in love with this song. It's so real and hit me right in the chest. My husband used to leave his work boots in the walkways all the time, seemed I tripped on them at least once a day. It's been over four years now, and I still wish I'd trip over them one more time. He worked himself into an early grave at 30, worried he had to prove himself. You're right though, he didn't have shit to prove to me.
Fuck man, that's a whole lot of heartbreak for one person. I really like the personal stuff way more than these other artists talking about shit that doesn't matter. You guys keep it up over there, clearly you know what your doing, this is just another example.
I'm crying as I'm typing this 😭 Nova, this song is absolutely BEAUTIFUL ❤️🔥 I'm a 52 year old white woman from America and I love ALL your songs. You and Tom are a beautiful couple. Always love & respect each other and always have faith in God ✝️
WTF ? why do you have to put race into your comment? ? You are part of the problem. People of all ethnics face this struggle Nova sings about. Race has nothing to do with it
The race bit was programmed into you, easy to drop that in but put in your life earnings... ewww...no one touching that...even though it's determinate on out comes of family. Ps millionaires of afro am. Nearly matches that of the general population.get working. Get prosperous.
With tears running down my face after watching...I say "Absolutely Brilliant" the video production, the message, the direction. Kudos to you both. Love blessings and prayers from me to you 💯 keep rocking on!!! Tom you're a way better rapper then me....and frankly most...your wife has a beautiful voice , can sing and rap ..like OMG...#JackPot . Peace always and look forward to rocking out with y'all one day 💯✌️🙏
I'm the child of an abusive cycle going back who knows how long. It took a long time to recognize that it was all learned behavior from previous generations of abuse, and to forgive those who harmed me. Hatred begets hatred, and the only thing that can overcome it is love. This song is beautiful, and raw, and real. Thank you; much love.
I'm so sorry for what you have gone through. You have the power to break the cycle! You are right, love is key. Also, forgiveness is key. This does not let the perpetrator off the hook for what they have done to you but it releases you to move forward in life so you are not still tied to the pain that person(s) inflicted on you. You got this my friend, I truly believe that. ❤️
I never had kids because of the same thing. Dad drug addict alcoholic and violent mean. Mom abused too much decided to pretend nothing bad ever happened and went wild once they split n started partying hard forgot is her kids So no passing that on
I've recently expressed the same sentiment...they seem like a great couple to be neighbors with...just solid folks you'd love to have a conversation with over the back fence.
So sorry about your dad. I’m blessed to still have mine around. He’s my best friend. I don’t know what I would do without him. Parkinson’s is an absolutely horrible thing and I really hope you were able to cherish your last memories with him and I hope he remembered every second of it .
Before my mum died she lost her memory, I was 10yo and it still kills me today 25years later...dunno why I shared that but the emotions fell out as soon as I heard this song
That's a tough tablet to swallow for a 10 Yr old. 💓 My mum took her own beautiful self out of this world with suicide. It doesn't get better you just learn to live with it. Blessings to you from Scotland. 🙏🏴🌹
You’re not alone Sam, similar situation here... I just wish I understood then what I understand now as I was too young to comprehend. This song hit me the same way.
Nova you are so BEAUTIFUL and your voice is so amazing!! I’m a 57 year old grandmother that loves to hear you and Tom sing. I just can’t get enough! I would love to be able to see you both in concert. I hope you guys come close to me so I can come to see y’all and hear you both sing. BTW I live in north Georgia. Love you Nova and Tom too!!!🥰
This hots home for me too. My dad was a sawmiller his whole life, but after his stroke at age 68, no more sound of the buzz of the sawmill. He survived, but is paralysed all down his right side, a big piece of him was lost that awful day, he's just not the same dad I knew now. He's 75 now, so is my mother, she's dying of alzheimers. I've just escaped an abusive 16 year relationship, and can finally go back to my home state of Tasmania, Australia, so they can finally spend the last of their time with their daughter whom they haven't heard from, or seen for 5 years. Im crying , but its not tears of sadness, its tears of relief and love, im coming home 💖😭 💝
Music rarely touches me anymore but this song made me cry. Much love to both of you for being responsible and using your music to heal the world and not crush it like all else thats out there. I have your back.
I know you will probably never see this but thank you for this song you have no idea how much motivation this track gave me I'm an ex drug addict I heard this and have now become a qualified bricklayer in the last year. You are right there is more to us all than the wars we lose thank you for giving me the motivation to better my life
stay with it bro! there is more to life than getting high. i hope you are still on track, and i am here praying for you. music can bring the world together!
I can tell that Nova is genuine, compassionate and non judgmental. No matter how high she will soar with her soul mate, she will always be real and a genuine sweetheart inside.
Just losing my father to start this new year this hits home. Thank you Nova for the words of passion and acceptance. He didnt have sh*t to prove to me. Rest in peace Dad. Thank you.
“And every day he wonders if he could’ve been a star” I am him right now, becoming a father changes you but the unconditional love is so powerful it can’t be helped so I too have put music up on the shelf.. I need to dust it off..
Same here... I don't rap at all but Tom and Nova inspire me to pick my guitar back up. I know I gotta grind for money, no dreams of being a star, but I'm inspired.

Man the part about granny having parkinsons... my granny had that and also diagnosed with brain cancer. I took care of her every day for her last 5 months... she was always such an independent strong woman and then her ailments made her feel weak and a burden on us grandkids.... I miss her every single day... 5/8/20
Sending a hug Slick, I can’t imagine how hard 2020 was for you. I have no doubt Granny is thankful for all you did, she’s proud of you and she will always be watching over you now. For what it’s worth I lost my mother to brain cancer in ‘04 and my kids were little. I’ve always told them she became a star so she could watch over them forever and that any time they want to talk to her just look to the night sky and find the brightest star cause that’s her. They’re grown now and still refer to my mom as a star. I shared this to give you the same advice, the brightest star is Granny too, always there for you. I hope 2021 is better and that the fond memories you have of Granny give you comfort. 💛
You done a good job been there for her.you have a good hart sending my love from the UK.i can't understand how you feel I ope my mam or dad don't get it my gran passed away at 92 with Long cancer she never smoked A-day in her life they tried telling her it was Passive smoking..sorry just fort I wood Share that information xx

He's worth checking out.👍
You and Tom inspire way more people than you could ever imagine.

May God keep you on the path you're steering toward. This living stuff is hard on everyone.

I just found Tom and Nova a week ago and these two are killing it , these 2 are going far 👏
i dont understand it
This girl is the real deal. enough of the fkng singing about money and clothes n shit. We need more real music like this.
Absofuckinloutletly 🤘🤘 love her and Tom's music. They are awesome. #HOG for life
you mean like back when music was good and had a point and passion? not just "ive got money and cars and i need attention for it to validate my own self worth bullshit"?
Yes please 🙏🏻
Apparently Snow tha product is getting a lot of hype but she ain't saying shit that ain't been said a thousand times and she is getting all the tats to symbolize that she is bought and paid for. We need more artists like Nova and Tom who are a product of their upbringing, not a plastic rapper in a plastic wrapper spitting bullshit 🤘🤘

You can tell she poured her fucking soul into this one.

Just found this too..I'm 67yo..bawling..love her and Tom❤❤
I’m a fifty year old women that just started listening to you and Tom...I’m bawling like a baby listening to this song...I married, had children and got Divorced young ... my kids tell me they know I did my best, but as a parent you always feel you could’ve done better...thank you for this great song!!
I wish nothing but the best for you and Tom...you two are a little power couple!!!
I am 50 too. All my old and young large extended family love these two.
Your comment made me tear up!!! Blessings to you
Girl this hit me hard too . 56 here , 5 kids. Feeling some kind of way and i find this song . Hit the nail on the head .
If you could have done better, you would have. You did amazing :)
Same man same.

In a world full of fake music and fake news Tom and Nova somehow brings us real music and real news.. Thanks you too HOG
Couldn't agree more!!
But no music is.. fake? Some is less meaningful, sure. But it has its audience. This is okay, but I prefer more clever lyrics tbh. Its pretty basic. Still, it has its audience.
@@runthemeows1197 CNN has an audience too.

Facts and facts 💯👏🙌😌👌

Both her and tom pretty awesome
This is something I'm discovering about my Mom. She always loved me but she was "only human" ...

From your story, I think you'll appreciate Shane Koyczan - heaven or whatever
I have watched Tom’s videos and was curious of who she was as an artist. This is the first song I heard and it had me crying. I love that they are both working together on their own to achieve their dreams. You don’t see this in artists. Couples are called power couples but you don’t see them working together the way Nova and Tom do. Much love and respect for both.❤️❤️❤️
word
"Power couples" in Hollywood always seem to be popular couples at the moment. They never last, are never together, or support each other. Nova & Tom are on another level.
Same. I listened to a couple others before this...but man, I cried thru the whole song...
Tom and Nova are the Lennon/McCartney of this generation. They are a force.
I agree. I love them both so much.

She is a butterfly with different wings , still just as magical and beautiful she just fly different then the rest of us
I'm a metalhead, but this is amazing. Everything Nova and Tom does is exceptional.
Same dude. Like I'll listen to other rappers, but its few and far between. I like music that has actual meaning behind the songs, and what these 2 can put out is much better than most I've heard from signed artists.

This line literally saved my life. My next tattoo will be these words.

I'm adopted too ❤️ Keep strong
My dad had a son before he met my mom, he told us about our brother and we all tried finding him on social media for years. It wasn't until my dad's funeral that we met our distant brother. He was very upset with my dad as he assumed he never tried to find him. When my dad passed away, his ex was told and she finally told us where our brother was.

You just worked out about 15 years of therapy for (going to be millions) of people. The ripples are turning to waves. Amazing job.
Yes u do, and u have ur amazing daughter who obviously loves u
You have more than that

It's been a hella long time since a song made me tear up. I'm feeling blessed I've discovered Nova and Tom.
Who else been waiting for the last 30min for the song to drop. I literally pulled over the work truck when 11 hit lol.
Same
Fudging fan boy. Aint nothing wrong with that. Unless you neglected to use your turn signal. Then screw you! Lol
I feel you I've been sitting in a box truck for a solid 45
"There's more to you than the wars you lose." Talk about lyricism.... Really a gorgeous line. Nova you killed it, I love the work you and Tom do. I'm excited to hear more from you.
It really is a great line
I lost my mom in January and this song is amazing.makes me cry everytime. She was a single mom of 6 kids and didnt get help from anyone.she was the strongest most independent woman I've ever seen. She gave up everything to raise us up right.she was amazing.i miss her so much.we will meet again up in the clouds.i love u mom.RIP😇🙏🍀UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN💚❤
This never gets old, keep it going Nova
"There's more to you than the wars you lose, you'll see."
That hits my soul.
Thank you Nova!
theres only a few songs that have brought me to tears I think the last one was happier by marshmello
@@ryanh4145 They also have a lot of music that pushes bad messages and promotes things that are ruining society.
Same man
"There's more to you, than the wars you lose, you'll see." Damn straight!
You know it man!
Well put!
Stay hard
What a pleasant surprise! An absolute powerhouse of a duo. You stand all on your own, Nova. Brilliant
People fear emotions. This deserves more views like "Hey you". Nobody want's to face their pain. It's evident. After you said it was about your family it struck different. Life is hard asf. You and Tom kill it though.
I sob through the song.

He is still watching...he is proud
I wasn't expecting to fall in love with this song. It's so real and hit me right in the chest. My husband used to leave his work boots in the walkways all the time, seemed I tripped on them at least once a day. It's been over four years now, and I still wish I'd trip over them one more time. He worked himself into an early grave at 30, worried he had to prove himself. You're right though, he didn't have shit to prove to me.
I'm so sorry Whitney.
What a beautiful comment
I'm really "sending" whatever love I can.. I desperately hope my wife feels the same about my smelly work boots. I wish you the best.
I'm sorry 😞
Oh my gosh I am so sorry Whitney. What a loss. And what a poignant memory. Love to you and yours!
Thank you Nova, this song inspires me to see what tomorrow may bring at times when I ask if seeing tomorrow matters.
What does you being white have to do with anything?
I'm going to delete my comments. It's not your fault, it's mine. You're loved, I promise.
#369hz Your ready for more arent you?
WTF ? why do you have to put race into your comment?
My father would have been 73 on the 21st. of this month.
And now this song...
Thanks Nova it helped me vent.

I do agree with very thing you said god bless you
Well said. That's what this song make me think of too.
Your strong you can get through this cuz your strong and we believe you❤
I'm so sorry for what you have gone through.
Mom abused too much decided to pretend nothing bad ever happened and went wild once they split n started partying hard forgot is her kids
So no passing that on
This may sound odd... But I just want to be friends with Nova and Tom. They just seem like solid people.
Same here....TRUTH shines from them both
Likewise. Grounded people.
I've recently expressed the same sentiment...they seem like a great couple to be neighbors with...just solid folks you'd love to have a conversation with over the back fence.
Completely agree
Why does that sound odd? All true fans do. They loves all of us tho
Great song, i can realy relates .
I lost my hero, my dad, a few months ago from Parkinson's. He was still fighting to be a good father till the end.
😭 I am so sorry
Aw, man, that is HARSH. Sorry to hear it!
May he RIP. Praying for strength and healing.
So sorry about your dad. I’m blessed to still have mine around. He’s my best friend. I don’t know what I would do without him. Parkinson’s is an absolutely horrible thing and I really hope you were able to cherish your last memories with him and I hope he remembered every second of it .

"Now she'd give anything to have the buzz of his saw comeback". That line hits deep
😭😭😭😭 FOR REAL
It's a sobering thing what we miss when the noise of a person is no longer in our lives
That line get's me every time.......
Usually it is the little things that people miss the most. Have a great day everyone and stay safe 🙏.
Damn. I didn't expect to be this satisfied with a song. I mean it's so sweet and powerful ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Music rarely touches me anymore but this song made me cry. Much love to both of you for being responsible and using your music to heal the world and not crush it like all else thats out there. I have your back.

I can tell that Nova is genuine, compassionate and non judgmental. No matter how high she will soar with her soul mate, she will always be real and a genuine sweetheart inside.
This song gives me chills every time I listen.
Just losing my father to start this new year this hits home. Thank you Nova for the words of passion and acceptance. He didnt have sh*t to prove to me. Rest in peace Dad. Thank you.
“And every day he wonders if he could’ve been a star”
I am him right now, becoming a father changes you but the unconditional love is so powerful it can’t be helped so I too have put music up on the shelf..
I need to dust it off..
you can always be a star...in the eyes of your child, you can be anything.
