Jani wrote my selene and got credit for doing so. I love both versions of the song. Tony has a great voice, So does Kotipelto. I see My selene as a great song played in two different ways.

Not the Tony's voice was the problem...There were other problems. I do now know them, but i'm sure it was a rly hard decision to take for both sides... RIP old Sonata Arctica, and welcome New Sonata Arctica with Elias... He is a great guitarist, but is not even close as composer to Jani. Hopefuly, they will get together someday. If not, they left behind a few songs that can chage the hole meaning of the ward " MUSIC "! Thank you Sonata Arctica ! God bless you!
I would love to hear an acoustic version with Tony. Don't get me wrong, Kotipelto has a fantastic voice, but for me Tony's technique feels so much deeper.
well jani DID right this song after all, one of the few for sonata arctica he wrote, i'm glad he played it even outside of sonata (can't say I like kotipelto's singing during the verses)
i agree kakkos version is better , though i prefer kotipelto overall - his pronunciation on some words are unusual on this track ... but maybe he is singing it respectfully, asto not outdo kakko , you hear him open up in the last chorus
I dont know why jani keeps lingering in the background , and on unexpected acoustic albums - he should join strato or reform full sonata , we need the 3 minute solo era back again

Don't get me wrong, Koti is my favorite, he has that unique voice stamp / timber, and had an amazing resonating voice, so I think it's a tie. Still Kotipelto was like a damn norse God on the stage even Thor would bow before him
