Sam, out of all other popular reviewers, you are by far the best at doing comparatives. They help immensely! Thank you for putting in this kind of detailed work because it matters to your shoe junkie audience! It's very much regarded and appreciated 👍
Thanks so much Michael. Much appreciated! I like to do the compares as I feel them and ponder them.
Man purple Rc elite 2 have to be the Best looking running shoe ever 💪
That colourway is banging 👌🏻
I love a shoe review that also doubles as a campus tour!
A fine Green campus it is !!
Sam, thank you for wonderful weaving in of Hanover (one of the countless New England gems it seems like) & Dartmouth with your great review. Watch out: Alumni Relations may hit you up for a big contribution now. Your affection for the place and your college of yesteryear shine through.
Thanks Christopher! One of the finest places on earth to run and study (sort of) if not distracted by nature, nearby mountains and more!!
Wow, what a beautiful shoe! Can't wait until October!!
Good morning RoadTrailRun and all the runners from Spain. Interesting and helpful comparisons, here is my like. My vote goes to Saucony endorhin Pro3. A nice day for everyone.
Great review, you covered all my questions. I have the RC Elite V2 and use them for long runs and recovery runs.. Definitely getting the SC Elite V3. By the way my RC ELITE V2 have about 200+ miles and are looking and feeling like new 👍🏻
I have 300 miles with little wear, still feels good.
The RC V2 seems to last very long for a racing shoe mine it is only 200+ km and just feels as good as new.
Mine elite v2 feel firm after 300km
Thanks for watching!
Great review. Thanks.
O.G. Rebel inspired Upper. Thank you NB!!!!
YEAH, switch the density foams! Softer right under the foot makes the shoe feel softer. I'm surprised there aren't "superinsoles" with shoes designed to fit 1cm or so insoles. The shoes could come with 2 different types so the shoe is more versatile. A FuelCell, PWRRUN PB, etc. thick removable insole.
I really want to try this, but it's hard to beat vaporfly 2
A fully gusseted carbon plated race shoe?
I'm in.
I like these but find on uneven turrain I can turn an ankle easier given there’s no middle
hrm... I thought the RC Elite V2 had a 8 mm drop? mine seem to anyway
Yes correct 8mm drop. According to the road trail run review from last year. Sam, great video and compassion. I might go Saucony pro 3 this year
The New Balance official product page had 4mm. They have not sent official specs as of yet. It feels like more than 4mm but that could also be due to the Energy Arc keeping things from sinking to far.
Hi Sam, any reflective hits on it?
look forward to 👍
Killer colour
So is it a faster RC elite 2? I like the RC2 but it could be slightly faster , but the forgiving ride i like as a bigger runner.
May depend.. If you tend to heel strike I think for sure as the Energy Arc manages the softness and kicks you forward. I think the plate may be a touch less aggressive but,.. we now have a top layer of slightly firmer FuelCell which leads to a longer more traditional roll to toe off.
Another excellent video. Thoughts on the SCv3 vs Edge+?
Thanks so much chevydad! The Edge+ is considerably firmer with sharper quicker rebound but not much. It is less forgiving to slower paces and really does require a quick cadence to work well
Ok Sam sorry I’m late to the party but several years ago I commented about my age I believe at the time was 66, anyway you advised me what would suit my circumstance was the rc elite v2 which after 500 plus miles for me is still amazing, well, my question is do your voodoo again would you recommend the sc elite v3 over the endorphin pro 3 to complement the rc elite v2 or is the ride in the pro 3 more comparable please help thanks.
Hi Thomas, Glad you liked them. The SC Elite 3 is for sure more comparable to RC Elite 2 than Endorphin Pro 3 but as with SC Elite 3 both have a softer ride. I find the SC Elite 3 more "normal" traditional riding than the Endo Pro 3 where the plate and foam have more of a contrast in feel: plate aggressive foam soft. Also look at upcoming Hoka Rocket X2 my review here: www.roadtrailrun.com/2023/02/hoka-rocket-x-2-initial-review-simply.html
Thank you so much for the review I actually have a chance of getting a pair of these but I want to be sure I get the right size! Do they fit exactly like the RC v2?? Should I stick with my same exact size as that??? Please let me know I appreciate it so much I only have one chance at getting the shoes I wanna make sure I get the right size!
Please carefully check our written review for insights on fit. www.roadtrailrun.com/2022/09/new-balance-tcs-new-york-city-marathon.html
@@samwinebaum I appreciate it so much! I just read everything. Most everyone said true to size but for me new balance runs a half size big! So I guess I’m gonna keep my fingers crossed and go for the same size 11 as all of my RC V2’s! I just hope that it isn’t too stretchy or too much room in the toebox! I appreciate it so much thank you
vaporfly is so useful :)
I had no idea Dr Seuss was a real doctor
He was not other than for sure Honorary multiple times. He was generous and donated his fortune to the medical school which is now named after him
Nice review and comparisons. Interesting that you found the SC Trainer snappier than the SC Elite. You suggested that it was a difference in the softness of the foam below and above the carbon plates in both shoes, and that you thought that it may have been reversed. I know that carbon plates have taken the running shoe world by storm, just as the barefoot running shoes (now there's an oxymoron) did years ago, but I wouldn't discount the increased drop, together with the rocker on the trainer as being the reason you found them snappier, and the trainers are significantly heavier than the elites as well. I've always found that a rocker is simple but effective...it just wants to make you move through your gait cycle, with or without a carbon plate. I do love my SC Trainers though, and the fuel cell is the most cushioned ride I've found. Thanks for your review 👍
Thanks for insights Chris. The drop for sure also contributing driving foot down and forward. I prefer around 8mm
puma deviate nitro elite
Or
NB SC elite 3?
Which pair will you pick ?
I personally would pick the NB for longer races half and up and puma for shorter 10K and under. I find the Puma heel low requiring faster speeds and more of a forefoot strike than the NB. The NB has an easier flow if a bit more mellow one.
Upper reminds me of the MaxRoad 4. I must be the only person that hated the rc elite 2. I found them way too firm and painful to run in.
Same feeling. Not hating but not that great shoe either. Soft feeling went away very quickly and can feel the plate. Not very fast shoe either. Three first runs were nice.
@@vincevanderperre6484 the foam is soft but all I felt when running in them was the plate and for me it wasn't very pleasant or responsive. I'm a midfoot striker about 4:10/km as well
@@vincevanderperre6484 nope I weigh 75kg
The plate is now less noticed up front for me, also a touch less aggressive front of shoe with a more rolling sensation. New geometry plus firmer foam above it may be what I am feeling.
You are not the only one. I regretted the shoe after the first run of 8 miles and have tried it x 3 with no fun at all. Slow compared to the other super shoes and the plate, ewww.

Thanks for the review. I came to think about a thing. I love your going at around 5,30min/km for your 7mile run, because that’s also around my pace for a easy runs. But. A thing you UA-camrs sometimes forget, these shoes ain’t made for going 5,30min/km. These are designed for hitting 3min/km for 2 hours. I realize only a few people in the world will do that. But still that’s what they are intended to do. So, hitting 5,30 imo gives you almost no benefit of the plate. Imo the majority of runners are better of buying cheaper shoes, since most are nowhere near close to take full advantage of the plates anyway.
I agree and disagree! Depends on geometry and flex if any of the plate. For example this shoe, the Alphafly 2, S
Sorry hit send to early. Alphafly 2 (but not 1), Vaporfly a bit faster, RC Elite 2, all the XTEP with their more flexible carbon as well as Scott Speed Carbon (also flex to carbon) and moving to less expensive non full carbon flexible plates such Endorphin Speeds, Magic Speed are all good choices for slower runners. I do not think ASICS Metaspeeds, Adios Pro, or Hoka Rocket X are as suitable for me or I think most “slower” runners as overly aggressive requiring consistent mid to forefoot strikes and high knee drive
I am slow and old 🙄. I use the RC Elite V2 and super shoes for long slow runs and recovery runs. They save my knees.
