really good and helpful video! but i just wanted to say instead of making the zelda thing green in 3D coat you could have just made it green in photoshop in a couple of seconds and it would have looked a lot cleaner

i found that if you keep the rectangle selection tool, you can select the entire gun and it paints it :)

I cant open anything in 3d coat! I press browse then search for the file. But when i press open, nothing happens!
Ok, I posted a question a few moments ago, where I explained that I had a problem getting the photo shop file back into 3d-coat and then I deleted that comment as I realized I had forgotten to save the photo shop file, but apparently you were still able to answer my deleted comment, which is weird... but yeah it was me forgetting to save, which I realized seconds after posting the question, but thanks anyways for your quick reply, and thanks for the great tutorial. =)

when i open it my model doesnt look like yours .. its bit greyish in colour . do i need to do something with shadows ?

+Mc Songer You mean in photoshop? If you have not figured it yet, just use the magic wand tool to select the black and delete it.
Some pictures need more careful work to remove the backgrounds.
Great tutorial but my texture can not be loaded into vtf edit. It just says Resources require VTF file version v7.3 and up.

Whenever I upload a sniper skin from 3DC to workbench the skin doesn’t transfer properly. The finish is distorted on the scopes and the barrel is always black regardless of what colour it is in 3DC. This only seems to effect sniper models; has anyone else experienced this and or knows how to fix?
Can i do this but with Photoshop CS6? When i click to continue on an external editor, the layers do not appear and i don't why. The only thing i could figure out is that you have CC 2014
The issue with the model where there is a hole at the top and on all other spots. How do i fix cause it causes a massive white line that makes the gun look awful and i imagine if you use this method to create then youve learned how to fix it seeing how your workshop profile has fully finished skins on it

hi Ckay i love the tut, but i got this annoying problem with my colors if i use the fill tool or paint the gun it shows the selected color but you can see some sort of forest kinda picture in the color it looks really bad i hope you know how to fix this problem

Hello, could you tell me how you can get rid of the glossiness permanently?
cause every time i paint something it has this glossiness and i have to select the layer and then remove the glossiness.

Make sure you save your photoshop file before going back into 3D Coat. :) (File > Save)

When I open the 3b file in photoshop my photoshops says its not the right document. It just stays blank. What have I done wrong?
Doxide You don't want to open up the 3b file.
Where are you at? Have you made the texture? Exported it? Trying to open the exported texture as a .TGA? Let me know then i can help you more.

3d coat dont auto updates the edited layers from photoshop:\
Click save on the photoshop file, then go back to 3D Coat.

Having some issues with the PNG coming into 3D Coat from Photoshop. It was a PNG vector like yours, but is distorted. Tried this with a solid image and had the same result. Any ideas?

am, i got linux and cs go workshop workbesh is asking txt file how to get it? all files i got from this program is 3B format
+marius peškaitis You need click save as or save in the Workbench when you have your texture in position. It will then generate the text file.

marius peškaitis When your in workbench, you chose the pattern type from the drop down menu and chose the texture which is the .vtf.
You position the texture how u want it then you click save as in workbench and then submit it.

+Bendik Syvertsen Of the texture yes, i only recommend this if you have a texture that is not unique to the parts of the gun. (If it is a texture like Case Hardened that is randomly rotated, etc)
GUYS DONT MAKE SKINS Like he do because some picture have copyright on so if you make a skin witha a pic on from google remove it you can risk getting community ban!
That is just common sense.
You are able to use assets from online if you research if they have copyright.

I edited my gun over the course of a few days and I have renamed it. How do I open it in 3d coat from photoshop. It doesn't do it automatically for me. Any help would be appreciated! :)
Nvm I figured it out!
does anyone know how to add texture to the gun? when i add texture to the gun it comes out 2d and transparent with green lines to outline the parts. where as in this video it come out 3d when he opens the file. even when i open the TGA file in PS it still comes out 2d. help anyone?

im not too sure how to do that sorry, but when i apply texture or use my targa file it come out black and it outs lined green. theres no real detail or texture to it. dont know what piece is which
In the workshop? What version of 3D coat are using? You may want to go to File > Export Object and Texture and setup the files there.
And is the Targa black in photoshop? But looks normal in 3D coat texture viewer?

Game Bros make sure "ignore weapon scale" is ticked. (towards the left)
And that all offsets are turned to 0.00 (furthest left on the sliders) including rotation.
