- I've seen a bunch of cool Neotheater overtures on youtube and I wanted to make one that was a bit more faithful to the style of an actual AJR overture by producing the instrumental myself.

I LOVE the part where Turning Out Part II becomes DTOML at 2:41, I wish it was a little cleaner but that was such a cool transition very similar to actual AJR Overtures. Great job
Thank you! It's definitely my favorite part even though FL's stretching algorithm does make it sound a little messy.
This is making me hope that ajr does an overture on their next album
I think Ryan said at one of the masterclasses that they don't plan on it but the overtures usually come at the end of the process so we'll have to wait and see. (and if they dont, I will. 🤝)

I’ve been waiting for someone to do a Neotheater Overture that’s actually an overture and not a medley, and this certainly captures it. If I had any critiques, it’s that I think it needs a bit more ear candy, like chimes, spoons, or just weird vocal effects. Then I think it’ll sound more like an AJR song.
Other than that, absolutely phenomenal work!

The transition from Turning Out Pt. II to Break my face is pure bliss to my ears. The Piano just becoming a vocal and some drums with a synthesizer is something that AJR would make

I don't know why, but I can imagine a very simplistic music video for this.
Just Adam, Jack and Ryan with their instruments and Neotheatre Outfits in front of a grey screen, which flashes whatever songs are playing.
Different angles and such accompanied the text and such.
...Also animated fsr.
That sounds really cool. I saw you do animations and stuff on your channel so if this an idea you'd want to make I think that would be super cool

This is literally my favorite fanmade AJR *anything* that I’ve heard, it’s absolutely amazing how you put together these snippets to make a masterpiece. I saw someone already said this, but the Turning Out Part II into Don’t Throw Out My Legos was INSANE. I feel this was already said a lot, but I think I’m speaking for everyone when I say we can’t wait to see what you do next.

I don't know if that'd work, Neotheater only has 2 music videos (100 Bad Days and Dear Winter) so Brooksen would have to make it themselves from scratch mostly.

I can't decide how I feel about the song, but I really respect the work and effort poured into it. Kudos to you for actually making an overture-style song rather than just a mashup/medley! Lots of cool effects too. Neotheater is my favorite album and the Overtures are often my favorites part of every album so I've always been sad Neo is the only one without one. This just makes me want an official one even more, it has so much potential. T-T

@brooksen Not really in my opinion. Why? Some parts felt a bit weird like how sometimes jack has a pitched up voice or an overly slowed deep voice.

Not good lie this a good mashup dude, I'll keep comin back to it, but also nit gonna lie, there is something that makes it feel a little slow all throuout the song in not a good way; every project you do though, you're gonna learn more and get better, so I can't see what you make in the future, cos I definitely like your style

Hi! I'm a huge AJR fan and I'd love to know how you made this and what you used to make this? I've been wanting to figure out a way of making a mash up of a couple of my favorite songs recently and don't know where to start!
Also, amazing overture, IMO it makes me disappointed about how I can't just add this to my Spotify playlist and have to go here to listen!
Thank you! I used Fl studio but you can really use any DAW. The production isn’t isn’t anything wild and I just used stock plugins (free ones). You could probably use audacity but I wouldn’t recommend it because of how limited it is. If you have any specific questions you can ask me through here or on discord (Brooksen#2985)
Ngl, in the first part I can't not hear the beat to "Shake It Off" - whether or not that was intentional is a mystery.
