This was the perfect level for me to practice listening! Thanks :) I also appreciate the quick translation followed by the really in-depth translation.
In 1:49, the pinyin for “好啊” is “hao 3 a 5”, but in the dialogue in 0:55, the pinyin is “hao 3 a1”. Please check which one is correct. The female host has some problem with pronouncing “周末”, because she made it sound like “me” for “mo”. In the dialogue, “一样” is pinyined as “yi 1 yang 4”. This is the correct pinyin, but in daily life, we usually use “yi 2 yang4” instead. It would be better if they explain or put a note to explain thiis, in case the audience get confused about why the pronounciation is different with the pinyin.
A better way to say hiking is 爬山, which means to you'll go to a forest or more specifically a mountainous area to walk around. I feel like 徒步 just means to walk around (literally to go by foot)and doesn't really specify where or the intensity of the walk. Even though 爬山 literally means to climb a mountain, the word climb isn't used the same as it is in English, and mainland Chinese use it to mean hiking.
Hello, you can turn on the closed caption/subtitle function in the UA-cam video and there you may find the Chinese (Traditional) option to display the Traditional Character counterparts discussed in the lesson. For more videos with Traditional Character lessons, you may check out our sister channel: ua-cam.com/users/MandarinMadeEZbyChinesePod. Have a great day!
I think that at 4:50 一周 should be yī zhōu, not yí. The sample dialogue’s pronunciation was better than the previous ones that I’ve heard on ChinesePod, but Alice’s Chinese pronunciation really could be better. It sounds to me that she is trying too hard.
Thank u for all of your responses. I know that my picky comments could be really annoying. You have been highly helpful and extremely patient, friendly.
at the time 2:04 she pronounced “和” instead of "跟” (the meaning of the 2 characters are the same, but it just doesn't match the subtitle) at the time 8:54 “背包” “背” pinyin should be "bēi" not "bèi"
Harry is an awesome internationally educated guy and the lady... is just nervous(also pretty hard to listen to her English), Harry sure can handle everything on his own, the lady is a weak teacher but has a great standard Mandarin pronunciation and a perfect voice for audio records. Harry, keep it going, man!
In the last segment for the comparisons. They used Sunday is hotter than Sat. But using same structure they stated Today was not as cold as yesterday? Shouldn't it be today was colder than yesterday? Aside from subject A and B the adjective was changed, but it shouldn't switch it to “not cold?” p.s the guy is cute. I just forwarded this clip to my gf

Good and fun class but it's better to speak more mandarin since its an Intermediate Lesson

The better to help your learning of the Mandarin language.

@Betty from ChinesePod Team haha, love you !
Why Alice sometimes pronounce the character 末(mo4) like me4? Is it correct?
Killer breakdown, guys! 真棒!

It would be cool to see a lesson on how to use the Chinese language keyboard.
@Rebecca from ChinesePod Team Thank you!
Alice is very cute! 😀
Which one is the correct tone for 背, bei1 or bei4?
Both are correct, but the meaning differs. 背(bei1) means to carry something on the back, and 背(bei4) means the back.
Like the lesson
Hi at 02:04 I think you made a mistake, the Chinese word written was 跟 gen but she said He 和 instead which is another word entirely?
Regarding the phrase 晴天, can I say 雨天 meaning a rainy day?
Yes. You can use the structure ‘weather + 天’. For example 雾天(wu4 tian1) a foggy day, 大风天(da4 feng1 tian1) a windy day.
I also heard people pronounce 空 as kong1, but in this lesson it’s kong4. Why?
How to say the weekdays in Chinese?
Hello , why don't we say 这些天 "的" 天气 ? Thank you
@Rebecca from ChinesePod Team Thank you I understand now =)

What's the difference between 下雨 and 有雨?
下雨 means raining, and 有雨 is a term used in weather broadcast.
这些天跟这几天有什么区别呢?
