Fr fr. The amount of time she got is despicably low. She tore her family apart and caused so much racial tension between white people and Hispanic people within the area. And filled her “story” with stupid, low effort racial stereotypes to really try and drive the point home that the supposed kidnappers were hispanic. If she hadn’t been a well-off white woman with kids and a nice husband, her penalty would have been much worse. Awful. Anyone who does something like this deserves to be in prison for a very long time. Sickening that things like race and culture have such an effect.

This woman is not, nor has ever been clinically insane. If you read the DSM-5 and their definition of psychosis, you will see that Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder are extremely serious mental illnesses requiring antipsychotic medication, and often hospitalization when having hallucinations and are unable to interpret reality. There are other symptoms, but the ones I listed here are the primarily the ones that present when someone is diagnosed. Sherri Papini craves and acts upon actions that garner her attention and sympathy. She was bored with her life and wanted to cause a crisis that would receive a great deal of both. She is despicable, likely a racist, a self-absorbed narcissist and is totally unable to see her actions for what they are. Please do not trivialize severe mental illness with Sherrri's self-serving actions. It's a slap in the face for those with clinical insanity when these fallacies are created to make an attempt to pin a cause for the despicable actions of a spoiled brat. Also, James was given immunity and has no jail time when he spilled the beans and revealed the true story of this "abduction."

hearing the family referring to sherri’s arrest as “unethical” was incredibly irritating. my father was deported twice when i was a child, and i was present when he was arrested the first time. he was playing basketball with his friends at our neighborhood park, and he had taken me with him to spend some time with his child. i don’t have a memory of this moment, as i was only 4 years old at the time, but the police were perfectly fine cuffing my father in front of me. i’m not claiming that my father’s arrest was unethical, but if sherri’s family claims that hers was, then my father’s was downright evil.

Something that's interesting is that you said when she first talked to the doctors after she was found, she had told them that she hurt her foot/leg, but when they checked nothing was wrong. And in the reddit post that she had made, in the bottom half, she talks about how she hurt her leg on the bleachers and her dad had told her not to "let it slow her down" and to "keep walking." She made it sound like this was a really "important" moment for her.
Do you think maybe when the doctors were first talking to her after she was found, that in that moment, she said that she had hurt her foot/leg because she was actually mixing up her stories? Clearly the reddit post story inspired her kidnapping story, with all the odd similarities and patterns. So maybe, when she was speaking to the doctors, she slipped up on her lies and accidentally mixed up the two stories - hence, why she said she had hurt her leg/foot but actually didn't.
Hopefully that makes sense. Just something I noticed.

As someone who was bullied in school by "Latina girls", they were not ever violent, just talked a lot of shit, some of it being kind of funny in hindsight even though it sucked to be on the receiving end of it. Pretty creative insults. Frankly, it made me notice the cultural differences and made me want to understand those differences better and ended up making friends through it. If only people didn't just pick stupid reasons to use as a template for their recurring excuses, maybe Sherri would've made a friend too.

There was a former student Tara Smith that went to HS with Sheri that actually did go missing when she was 16 years old in the same town and has never been found. She was rumored to be having an affair with her marshal arts instructor or something, said she was going for a quick run, he admitted to seeing her and then says he does not know what happened to her. I was honestly not sure if YT would censor that comment and thought it may even be a bit TMI speaking out the victim. I know that Tera was an innocent 16 year old child and this guy was a rapist scum bag. Sometimes I wish the English language had better words to describe things. From the Oxford dictionary, an affair is "a sexual relationship between two people, one or both of whom are married to or in a long-term relationship with someone else". CA age of consent is 18 but approximately half of the 50 states have 16 as the age of consent. crazy right?

I know people who have served a week or so, but then owed even 10k and that fine literally ruins their life. When you get a job, every paycheck goes directly towards the fine. She will never be able to enjoy life again with a fine that large. If you do not continuously pay them (if she didn’t work) they’ll just bring you back to jail.

I have to note a few things, just minor details but still (this case fascinated me in the worst way. She’s a garbage human)
    1. Sherri told the police there was a nice captor and a mean one. The day she was released the captors were “arguing”, she heard the gunshot, and the NICE captor came and grabbed her and “got her out of there”. So just one let her out. Not both. This is why she launches into the “she saved my life I don’t want to talk about her” when cornered about lying. Basically insinuating that the “good” captor shot and killed the bad one and freed Sherri and that’s how she got let go.
    2. James did very little to hurt her other than the branding. She did it to herself. She asked him to smack her in the face with I believe a hockey stick. He said no so she smashed it into her OWN nose to break it. She punched herself. Slammed her legs into corners and dressers. Most of her physical damage was caused by herself. He did do some after she begged but not much. The branding he did do.
    3. James was interviewed in his home when he spilled the beans. When they went in they saw the layout was the same she described in her story.
    4. They were not going to press charges on her if she’d just tell the truth. They gave her one last chance to save herself by just being honest but she wouldn’t do it. She launched into “James did it? No. No way. James couldn’t of done this!” 🤦🏻‍♀️ she really was gonna ride this to the end.
Poor poor poor keith telling the cops that he’s the idiot husband broke my heart. He felt so dumb. So got. So broken. I felt terrible for him.
