Everytime I watch this I think I spent my youth wrong. Don't get me wrong, being an adult now with a mortgage and all the creature comforts I regularly enjoy and my day job; that's all fine and dandy and I'm glad to have them. But from 18 to 25 I should of just been a crusty traveling folk artist. These guys just OOZE that youthful reckless abandon. So beautiful.
There's no age to ideals. I don't even have a credit card or bank account, wear 20 year old sneakers and still just went to Italy. My point is, there's no rules and there's nothing wrong with appreciating good food/drink and a comfortable bed.
One of the memebers of our family recently died, in her honor we each wrote a letter to her and stuck it in a jar, we burned the letters and laid it on the ground... trampled the earth beside the tiny jar of smoke and belted Honey in her honor.. at the TOP of our LUNGS until our voices became harsh. Thans Raum.
Honey In The Hair has been such an important part of my life not to mention part of my friend's lives.. we've sort of taken it on as our unofficial anthem... my boyfriend who at the time was just my friend figured out how to play it on his guitar, our group of friends huddled around a campfire in a graffiti ridden old farmhouse would scream this into the night as we passed our bottles of whiskey around. We became a family. We take care of each other.. and when we get together we sing proud.

Doing a set on the rails is like a night of speed dating. Your audience is there fore three minutes, and then they are gone, lost to the winds of time, never again to be at that place, at that time when the band will be there again. It's a pseudo-magical emotional bond for all involved.

This video keeps popping into my feed so I guess I'll finally stop avoiding it and engage. I am a Blackbird Raum fan and was once a professional musician. I don't know the context around this specific performance so I am not judging BR here at all so don't bother jumping to their defense. A friendly piece of advice for any young aspiring musicians (or performers of any kind) out there who might be feeling inspired from this lovely video of a nice performance of a fun song: do *not* busk or otherwise perform in train cars or anywhere else there is a captive audience. It is a wildly inconsiderate, antisocial and solipsistic thing to do. It is only punk in the most base and cringe sense. Imagine everyone there loves your music but there happens to be one person with sensory issues who literally cannot leave and is being tortured by your performance. Is that a price worth paying for some attention? Anyway, still a cool video 11 years later.
@@chrishalliwell3583 There is barely any information on this band lol. The mf who showed me this band some one of the members raped someone? But I can't find anything about that.

idk how much this will count, but you can still live your crust folk dreams, you just need to figure the timing out

Don't worry! There's always 43 and time for a mid-life crisis. I'm about to take my banjo and jump on the BART.

Would've been the best train ride.
Watching her playing makes me want to focus not so much on the guitar but a bit more on my mandolin.
That instrument the guy in the back is playing is so strange, looks like he's scratching his belly.

Indescriptible...
Gentrifiers taking up too much space. That band isn't allowed to even play Oakland anymore
