I think most people complaining about RIP Mcfly are those who haven't been a fan since day 1 (too young to be), I am reading through the comments and seeing how some of us are actually supportive who love the song and those who are supportive and don't like the song. Just shows how immature some 'fans' can be nowadays. Seriously show some respect for the boys if your that much of a 'fan'. This song is by MCBUSTED, not Mcfly or Busted. MCBUSTED. The sound will be different.

I am proud of the McFly boys, and I am glad they are having fun with their friends, but, I do not like the song. If there was less auto tune, and more of a 'Radio:Active' feel, I would enjoy it more.
But that does not mean I am a 'fake fan'.

Mcfly has been my favourite band since I was 15- I'm now 25. I also live in Australia where up until recently they got little to no airplay on the radio. I remember the first time I heard a mcfly song play on main steam Australian radio I screamed because I was so excited they were finally getting the recognition they deserved. And now I feel like they are going backwards with mcbusted. Busted songs are sexist, disrespectful and have no deeper meanings, which is interesting because they are so different to mcfly songs, yet James has helped write a lot of the mcfly songs. I just think mcfly can do so much better. I'm glad they are still making new music and I will continue to be a fan, I would just prefer it would stay mcfly. - Ps has anyone heard anything about that album they were making before any of this mcbusted shit went down?

Busted and McFly are trying hard to make their fans happy and then the "fans" go and throw it back in their faces. Just let them make music with their friends, after all, it isn't the end of McFly.
People stop complaining that it's not "McFly" because it's too "Busted". You're sounding like pathetic children arguing over a toy. This is McBusted. They are having fun, doing what they want and playing / writing / producing the music they want.
Beside if you're so much of a McFly fan you will remember Radio: Active and how most of them songsongs were fast pace, upbeat, not all about love and overall more rock than pop songs. Let them do what they want. They have said McFly is not dead and to stop with the whole "RIP McFly" bs.
Stop complaining and enjoy McBusted while they are still around. After all Busted weren't around for 10 years and it's great that we get collabs with McFly and Busted again like back in 2003/2004. In this they all sing and have a solo, just like when they did Build Me Up Buttercup, Fun Fun Fun and Lola.

Tom has written this right now in his last video answering a question about a new possible mcfly album:
"We've been working our butts off writing and recording an album...whether it has McFly or McBusted on the front it is still music created by me, Danny, Dougie and Harry. I feel really proud of this album and I hope everyone enjoys it and gives it a chance before dismissing it because "it's not McFly"...because it is, it is us 4 making a record with our 2 best mates. So, the answer is yes and that album is McBusted."
stop hating on it because there's not enough McFly...not being funny, Tom sings the majority of the song....and why RIP to McFly? Last i remember they released a single and toured only a year ago. Busted haven't done anything since 2005. We should be celebrating the return of Busted! I'd prefer it if they went Busted and McFly rather than McBusted in the studio, but ah well, we get this song. People who are responding negatively to this song clearly have no idea what it means to support a band. Regardless of not liking the song, you shouldn't feel the need to openly bash your favorite band. Who cares if Mcfly is regressing to their roots? Isn't that how we all fell in love with Mcfly??
I keep seeing comments from McFly fans complaining that McFly have gone, that they have added two 'random' members and changed their name. People need to understand that they haven't done any of those things! This is a separate project entirely and it's not permanent! McFly fans don't need to worry, McFly still exists and will go back to being just McFly, they are just having fun with this for now! And why not, they still have many, many years ahead to make more McFly music so what's the rush!? Maybe I'm biased cos I was a Busted fan too, but I think we should just embrace this and enjoy it while it lasts! Besides, they are making pop history and we should be proud that McFly are part of something like this! :-D
This album has been wrote (provably the most part) by James, Tom and Danny, so that means that McFly likes this music and this sound. Many bands lose the motivation to stay together and leave. The mcbusted tour (playing with two great friends from the beginning) was really good for McFly, "it was refreshing" they said, because they did something "different" in ten years. So now guys, this is their MOTIVATION and the way they decided to follow, so respect that!
Oh yeah, this goes for the "IMissOldMcFlyFans", I love this song even if it's more pop than McFly style! I'm sure there will be more "mcfly" songs in the album!
Finally someone i can relate to! I freaking love this song, and I'm sure there will be songs on the album with the more typical mcfly sound, so I'm just looking forward to hear more from them :D
Yeah I agree! Anyway, I Tom and Danny had solos and I could hear Dougie's backing vocals very clearly! I don't understand why people are like 'there's no McFly in it'. Considering they're a new band now, they can change their style. We've seen them do it over the years as just McFly, so why is it so bad that they've done it with McBusted??

God blessed me meeting McFLY in 2006, because their music lifted me up when I really needed it. Now there's nothing left about it, this is Busted, this is not McFLY, there's not even the "essence" of them. I know the boys are enjoying the time, but they completly forgot their fans.

I think everyone's forgetting that busted also wrote some songs on the mcfly albums and vice versa, if you were really a fan of mcfly you'd be happy that they're happy, get over yourselves im sure mcfly dont want to see their 'fans' being negative.

I love this song, is happy and catchy! People saying this has a young busted influence. Do you not remember Mcfly 11years ago and how they sounded? Probly not because most of you were like 5\6 ha. There all happy, deal with it. Be a fan and stick by them, you can't abandon them after 11 years

People complaining that this one song sounds too much like Busted... and you're saying that's a bad thing? McFly are decent but Busted were still better, even with just 2 albums. I enjoyed ATN, but it's clear that McFly was losing their relevance (although the Albert Hall performances were a fine accomplishment) and McBusted has helped undoubtedly generate a spark for them again. Is it a bit of a cash cow and gimmicky? Absolutely. I'm glad Charlie's (being the most talented and credible member) is not a part of it. But it's all good fun and the guys are clearly enjoying themselves. Tom came up with 'Air Guitar' (and you can tell James' helped co-write cos of his lyrical trope for being a 'loser kid'). Tbf, this song is far better than McFly's latest songs, which is just too Poppy and too much about love. It's nice to have a new "rock out" song.
But I wish they'd just release the McBusted album already and then the McFly album number 6 for free just to keep their fans from whining (tbf, 'Red' and 'Touch the Rain' sounded amazing live).

In their book, they admitted that they'd left the album mastering in almost full control of the produces in US thats why it came out so "poppy" which was not what they wanted. Which is why they needed to hit the "restart" button. The RAH concert was the perfect platform for a restart. And is also why they do a lot of their own mastering and editing now.
And i don't know if I'd say Charlie was the most talented one, it was actually James that did most of the work in Busted.
Adan Chin I personally prefer that album over their others but yeah, that's fair enough. Although this song itself and McBusted seems to be a total "cash-grab" and poppier anyway.
Yes, James wrote most of the Busted hits (which doesn't necessarily mean they're the best songs though) and has clear talent for songwriting. But I was on about individually over their musical careers - not just during Busted. Charlie is still easily the most talented one imo. You really think Busted has more credibility than Fightstar or Charlie's solo work? The lads themselves even joked about how the whole of McFly may just be enough to try and replace Charlie for McBusted. Aptly put, 'Busted without Charlie Simpson is like brushing your teeth without the toothpaste'. Matt could hardly even play the bass, so Charlie would often record his parts in the studio, and most of the guitars, and the drums, some songwriting, etc. Charlie has successfully pioneered in different musical genres. I'm a fan of all of them, but Charlie has built up a successful career after all the "stick" he got for being in Busted (he would get bottled in the early days of Fightstar).
I must admit it is a little gimmicky, but doesn't make it a bad thing. Although they are great as seperate bands, I think it's a cool idea that they've come together, with the closeness they had before Busted split (I think James continued to assist with McFly lyric duties after Busted, so they've never really been apart), but it would obviously be awesome to know McFly are still doing stuff for their own personal band too.
I 100% agree! I love mcfly and busted, but i have to admit that comparing McFly's recent music to what they used to produce, all I hear is pop music.

So this just came to confirm the fact that McBusted is Busted's leftovers, plus Tom who never got over rejection, 2 guys (Harry & Doug) craving fame and 1 guy who didn't have a voice on the matter. Now, I'm not saying this is good or bad (I may not be impartial), I'm just saying this is Busted. I know Tom wrote it, but you can tell this was written by the guy Tom was 12 years ago. After 10 years with McFly he matured, but this is something that James and Tom could've written in Busted's early days, and that just throws everything into the trash.
Mcfly never did music for the money or the fame, but McBusted seems to exist for the sole purpose of being relevant and making money. Dying your hair as if you were 15? Making "formations" on red carpets? You're on your 30's and some of you have kids, but when they're together it's like they just turn 18 again and that is sad in so many ways.
The worst part is that most of McBusted fans are fans because they miss Busted and this was the only way James and Matt could be in the spotlight again. I have not seen one McBusted fan saying "I just met them and they are awesome". All of them say "They bring so many childhood memories. I've been waiting years to see Busted again." They don't like McBusted for McBusted, they like them for what Busted could have been, but never was and they're dragging McFly (Tom's fault, I know).
And it's sad that McFly fans are being forgotten. And when I say McFly fans, I mean only-McFly fans. Not Busted fans that moved onto McFly. I mean the ones that supported McFly for McFly and not because "well, Busted's gone and these guys are similar." The ones that never liked Busted's style or never heard of those guys until years later of knowing McFly.
I'm not asking McFly to come back because I've accepted the fact that they're not coming back and if they ever do, I'm sure they will not be the same guys I fell in love with so many years ago (they've proven it on twitter). And I feel so sorry for Danny, because I can feel that he was dragged into this, he was so sad to put McFly's album on hold, and he's the only one reassuring McFly fans and being nice to them. It's like he's the only thing that keeps McFly essence alive, but he can't carry all the weight.

Hablas como si ya hubieras escuchado el album entero y sepas con certeza que todas las canciones son así (perfectamente esta pueda ser la más pop y la hagan single). Y de verdad dudo mucho que tres de los cuatro de McFly hayan aceptado seguir este camino si de verdad no querían (teniendo en cuenta que están casi todos casados y que pronto seguirán los pasos de Tom con hijos.. antes que hacer algo que no les gusta lo dejarían).
Según tú, ellos han decidido seguir con McBusted por dinero (llevan 10 años en la industria, crees que les hace falta?). Busted y McFly son bandas hermanas practicamente, McFly se formo en parte gracias a Busted y de que Tom se quedará sin banda y les ayudaran a crearla. Y sobre lo de la edad, de verdad no son libres de actuar como quieran? Habrás visto infinitos videos de McFly en backstage haciendo animaladas como si tuvieran 15 años, verdad? Ellos compartieron tour con 18 años, no es raro que ahora se sientan un poco como entonces.
Es muy normal que con McBusted, sean los fans de Busted los más excitados (llevan 10 años sin saber de ellos y McFly siempre estaba allí). Y yo, que viví la epoca de Busted y McFly en sus inicios, siempre he preferido McFly eh.
Te pueden gustar las dos bandas sin problemas. Sobre lo de olvidarse de los fans de McFly.. Realmente no me creo que no hayan pensado mil veces en si hacerlo o no. Si has visto el documental de Fearne y McBusted, Danny lo dice claramente cuando deciden empezar el tour, que sabian perfectamente que a algunos fans no les gustaria que pospusieran el album que estaban haciendo, pero era algo que les motivaba de verdad.
Para acabar, no hace falta montarse peliculas sobre que ya no volverán, que han cambiado, que Danny está siendo apuntado con una pistola porque él no quiere hacer McBusted, etc.
Para acabar, decir que no soy fan de Busted, y sigo McBusted por McFly. Será porqué este tipo de musica tambien me gusta o porque confio en que haran un buen album, pero yo les doy un voto de confianza. Solo quiero defender su elección, el camino que han creido mejor, porqué a los que les criticais porque pensais que os han traicionado y han sido egoistas, no se os ha ocurrido que despues de 10 años tocando en los mismos escenarios (cambiando algunas canciones), puede que algún dia pierdan esas ganas, ese interés, esa motivación por seguir tocando y no dejarlo y dedicarse a otras aventuras, como lo es la familiar?? Una banda, o evoluciona, o se acaba. Cuando uno no tiene motivación acaba dejándolo, y McBusted es la motivación actual para que McFly siga tocando juntos, aunque sea con otros dos personajes.
Y nada, tenía que soltar todo esto, lo siento si te lleva demasiado. Solo espero que lo entiendas, que supongo que si, si traduces sus videos! En ningun momento hablo brusco ni quiero ofender, solo era responder con mi opinion y defendiendo sobretodo la elección de los componentes de McFly.

Been a fan from day 1, I was 4 years old and I've never left McFly's side. Yeah I miss McFly loads but I don't see the point in commenting 'RIP McFly'. They haven't gone anywhere, they're still there but with two more members and a new name. I'll always support them whether they're McFly or McBusted x

Dougie and Tom were in a bad place a few years ago because they got lost in the music industry and were distancing away from playing the music that they enjoyed. Right now they seem on top of the world, and the guys appear to be stronger than they ever have been. For that reason, I support them all the way.
Absolutely love this song. Can't get it out of my head. I love that you can hear the two bands styles coming together. The lyrics are very McFly and the music is very Busted. I think this is brilliant and I love McBusted!!! Can't wait to hear more!!

🙋 I've been a Busted and McFLY fan since I was 13/14, when they first started out. I think this song is bloody awesome. I don't really understand what fans were expecting? This is exactly what I was expecting! Busted were always about the jokey songs and both bands were always about the complete and utter tunes. This is a mashup of both of those things, both elements from each band and I think McBusted fans should love it! I can't wait for the album if it's going to be filled with tunes like this!

I miss mcfly too, im sure a part of us all do. But they WILL come back, no doubt about it. Mcbusted is just going to happen for a short period of time, and theyre fabulous so we should all appreciate them while theyre here.

I was never too keen on mcbusted when it first happened, but after seeing them live and now hearing this my opinion has changed! I will always adore mcfly as I've basically grown up listening to them, but for the moment I think what they're doing is great and I wish them the best of luck :)

I am a Busted fan and a McFly fan. But if I were just a McFly fan then I would respect what they want to do. In the end, this is McFly making music with their friends. Also, Busted haven't made music together in almost ten years. McFly have been making music for eleven years now. McBusted gives Busted the chance to make music again and it give McFly a chance to explore other areas of music.
And for those saying things like 'RIP McFly', they haven't broken up. They are still McFly as Harry said on Twitter. The only thing that has changed is that they are being joined by their good friends Busted to make and album. Once McBusted has made an album they will most likely move on and McFly will release their album.
For those who are hating on the song and saying that it sounds too much like Busted, this is only one song. One song out of around ten (about). So, I would believe that it is safe to assume that there will be songs that sound like McFly on the album as well. Also, I think that people need to remember that a lot of McFly's older songs were more like Busted's songs.
If you were true McFly fans then you would respect their decision to do this with their friends.

Yeah. I'm a 25 year old woman reliving my youth listening to this. As a huge BUSTED fan as a teenager, and a big Mcfly fan after BUSTED broke up, this is awesome. Can really hear the combination between the two bands styles. Long live, BUSTED & Mcfly but for now, all hail MCBUSTED!!!!

So, lots of people are hating on this song because they think McFly is over. But didn't they write and record their new Album before McBusted was born?? And they said on videos at the RAH that they really liked it!! They're not going to record it then never release it!! They released Love is on the Radio!! So it's not a typical McFly song, but its not McFly, it's McBusted!! and yes it sounds a bit like a Busted Track, but they've got to have some middle ground!!
So let them do this if they want it's their choice!! Tom, Dougie, Danny and Harry want to perform and record with their friends Matt and James and who are we to stop them?? It's their choice!! If it fails miserably they'll go back to just being Mcfly or Busted!! and then somebody somewhere will be complaing that McBusted is dead...you never know they may releases an album as McBusted then leave McBusted for a while and come back as Mcfly and then later do some more McBusted stuff.

I don't know how to feel about it, i am probably sad (veeery sad) because McBusted is more real each day and McFly is more over. This song makes me feel like a teenager, not quite what I'm into right now in my life. I'm kinda sad to realise that my fav band (McFLY) does not excite me as much as they used to. I loved Love is On The Radio... hope they put a new album on the market soon.
(This is just my 2 cents, feel free to disagree as I'm really interested in what every one else thinks, I'm trying to phrase it in the most passive way possible as I'm not trying to start a comment war, just a discussion.)
I just don't understand the logic behind McBusted. Both bands are great separately, there is no doubting that. It's just that McFly spent 10 years trying to distance themselves from "the band that supported Busted." They made 5 very different albums and were able to grow and effortlessly slide through different genres (just look at Room on The 3rd Floor in comparison to Radio:Active) yet now they've resorted to being a support act for Busted all over again. I've followed McFly from day one and have been lucky enough to see them in concert on a number of occasions. One of their strongest performances was on their KCAPL tour in 2012 when they played new material, the songs they played were so impressive and mature and it was so promising to see the direction they were taking their music. It was so exciting to see how yet again they were able to change as a band.
I was fortunate enough to see them again for their 10 year anniversary at the Royal Albert Hall and the McBusted performance was great, honestly it was so fun and such a novelty and I screamed the lyrics to Air Hostess as loud as everyone else but too me that's all McBusted is; a novelty, one that is cashing in on nostalgia. I saw McBusted at the 02 and visually the show was out of this world but I couldn't help feeling disappointed that their was at least 3 Busted songs to every 1 McFly song. I'm sure commercially they'll do great but I'm really confused as to who their target audience is supposed to be as many 'original fans' of both bands are now in their early to mid twenties? Personally I think nostalgia can only last so long before it begins to ruin what was already there. I just think it's a shame to know that a sixth McFly album (which they all said was the best one yet) has been placed on the back burner that McBusted can happen. Hopefully I'll change my mind as more singles are released but at this point in time I think a McBusted album is taking the novelty super group act too far.
I completely agree with you. I think the idea of a mcbusted tour for old times sake was fun, but i'm not sure this is going in the right direction for both bands. Don't get me wrong I love both Busted & McFly and have been following their career from the beginning. There have been albums that i like less but still went to shows and stuff.
As for the song it sure is catchy, and reminds me of old school pop rock stuff from 10 years ago (which i love). But lyrically, i dunno who their target is, but they could have done something better!
Will see how the album turns out, maybe they'll surprise us!
Sarahforthefail i could have not said it better, i have always supported Mcfly and have like busted but not anywhere as I am a fan of Mcfly and well i think its complete bs that they go and start something new for the sake of sales, like congrats but you sold yourself/ talent out to the world just for sales, i feel like it isn't genuine, and yes i get james and tom are bffs but we all know you are never suppose to mix business with pleasure it messes a lot up. i honestly think tom and james thought this whole thing up and tom pushed the issue until he got his way and thats whats happening, tom wants this but doesn't realize how much damage it may cause to the band he dedicated his life too. i hope all goes well for them i really do, i just think they went about it the wrong way, and at least could have the decency to let the fans know the full truth on album 6 or if this takes off what they plan to do with mcfly. thats what a good partnership between fans and stars is. tom is on top of his game and always keeping the fans in the loop but i feel like this was a blindsided punch to the face and you feel like each thing they do isn't loyal. as a fan who spends money, time waiting on songs, concerts, tickets, merch u feel a bit suckered, and everything you once believed or felt genuine about for Mcfly sorta disappeared. as my life moves on and theirs too i guess it just comes down to me being bummed out that if i do have to listen to mcbusted for the sake of loving mcvl, well i have to hear james awful snotty voice and matts forced singing, WTH!!!! seriously tom and danny have true talent and sing amazing, and i just don't see where james and matt could make mcfly better. anyways i am done ranting and have a good day

Urm, this song is amazing. What I love is that it is like old school mcfly mixed with busted. At the end of the day they have gone back to their roots, it all started with Busted. McFly maybe back one day, sometimes in life however, change is a good thing.

McBusted haters don't realize how much effort it takes to make music happen, and clearly don't know how to appreciate it. Just stop complaining for a second and just listen, after all It's music right? so why don't we just enjoy it? I just love to actually see the hours and hours of hard work they spend in the studio (while knowing they are having a great time doing it, as you all can easily tell) just to make us happy and proud. So stop, breath slowly, and think about it for a minute or two, and maybe three, before moaning and complaining, and just enjoy their music, because it's real, and it's here for us.
I can't wait for McFly to be back :) But I'll just take a walk down memory lane while I wait :)

I loved Busted and McFly, ever since I was a lot younger than I am now and I grew up loving them. I was heartbroken when Busted broke up and McFly disappeared and I'm soooo happy that they are both back just in one band! Although, I will admit, I loved McFly's songs that they released before getting together with Matt and James from Busted. Can't wait to see them on tour though:D

I was a Busted fan before McFly came out. Then I became a Galaxy Defender, McFlyer or whatever you call it nowadays. I loved and love both bands, and I love they are doing an album together. You say you can't hear McFly in this song... Well, I can clearly hear Tom's voice and Harry playing drums. I can see in the lyrics the same essence that was in first McFly's songs. And I love how the guitars are played with that Busted sound. I also love their vocals.
Anyway, if you can't see McFly in it, let me tell you something: they are not McFly. They are not Busted. THEY ARE MCBUSTED.
You can like it or not. Just love it or leave it. I remember when McFly turned so pop I couldn't handle... I didn't go to their videos saying: What a shit, I want the old teen pop-rock songs, I want more songs in Surfer Babe, That girl and POV style. I kept waiting patiently for newsongs and listen to their olds. It's their music, they have the right to do whatever they want without feeling bad for their fans. It's their career, their lives. So don't get upset with them for wanting some changes.

Reading through some of the comments.. I HAVE been a fan since Day 1. Busted first, then McFly. This new song is really catchy, but so childish. Goes straight back to when they were teenage wannabes. The tune is great but the whole theme of the song is just so dated - a typical 'teenage boy band pop song.' I would have thought they'd have been better than that by now. They're all grown men. Even One Direction can write stuff more meaningful than this. Great sound. Hope the rest of the album is a bit more thought out.

To everyone complaining, I think this song reflects everything the boys are doing right now - having fun. They're enjoying themselves and are excited about the music they're producing. McBusted at Hyde Park was one of the best gigs I've ever been to. Surely they're just a mix of two amazing bands. What's wrong with that?
Don't know why Mcfly fans are complaining (I'm fans of both single bands) I think it's a great song! A little different to usual but if every song sounds samey where's the fun? Lies and One for the Radio were quite different to their normal sound too. They need to make it sound like Mcbusted, so a bit of Busted sound will come into it. Why are people saying 'RIP McFly'? This song includes the voices of Danny and Tom and I'm sure Dougie and Harry did some backing vocals. This song is a little edgier than some of McFly's stuff, but that doesn't mean you can't like this song because it's nothing like what they usually produce! And are we forgetting that Tom wrote a few songs for Busted, so obviously this is his type of music, and so it is McFly's music. I personally LOVE this song and am so proud of Mcbusted, and if you were a true fan you would be proud too, and not complaining like little kids.

This is the second time I've had people complaining about new songs. I'm a fan of Tokio Hotel and they changed their sound and people compain about how not them it is and people commented on their videos RIP Tokio Hotel which annoyed me. I think the song is pretty kick ass and people forget bands are allowed to try new things. I totally agree that people should stop hating,they have done a really good job on the song and I love it.

If they had released album 6 and THEN created mcbusted, I'd be happier. I love that they are having fun and their energy and fun is infectious. But I'm a bit sad they put on hold something we had been expecting for SO LONG. I know they didn't plan it, it just sort of snowballed. I'm just saying I wish it had happened differently.

I was a huge Busted fan back in the day and this song brings back so many memories... in a sad way. Don't get me wrong, I love McBusted. Been a massive Mcfly fan for years and I love Matt and James but they can't seriously think this song is going to get anywhere? The sound is so 2002 when year 3000 was huge. The lyrics are written in the same way when they were 17, when it was acceptable to be singing about 'dating popstars and a model on the side' I just think its a very immature sound for 6 grown men who are mostly married! I wish them all the best of course but this kind of stuff is only going to target children and sadly won't make it anywhere in today's music :(

I am an absolute galaxy defender and I will always be but feel like McBusted is dead. I think they should have finished with the tour and it is unfair on all us galaxy defenders who were promised McFLY album 6 last year.
