    This and the v8 c63 coupe are just something special. The sound and the comfort. Its not about going fast, its about cruising changing gears and hearing the pops and crackles. thats what you love more than performance.

  • @jwpratt1947

    The 30 mpg is because the engine transforms to an Atkinson cycle (usually used in hybrid applications - the intake valve train changes to Late Intake Valve Closing (LIVC) when cruising at highway speeds where the power requirements at low. If you need power the engine immediately switches back to Otto cycle and away you go. This Atkinson cycle provides the improvement in FE (over the 26 mpg EPA hwy number) Not sure why Lexus does not advertize this feature. I won a coupe and every trip I get 30-32 mpg at 70-75mph)

    I have a Nissan GT-R and I'm really contemplating moving into an LC500. This car is much more sophisticated in design quality. Many tell me it would be a performance downgrade which is true but this car is in a league of its own which I appreciate.

    Great review and I agree with all your points! I have the 2020 Inspiration Edition and absolutely LOVE everything about my car. Also, the Climate Control System (Inside of Infotainment) has a function called "Concierge" mode. This is a "Set-It and Forget-It" mode that If enabled, will automatically control ALL of your Climate, Seat and Steering Wheel heat conditions based on the Temperature you have set on the display. The car will then monitor the inside and outside temps and adjust the Climate, Seats and Steering wheel Automatically to meet or maintain the temp setting you have applied. As an example, I live in the Atlanta, Georgia area, where on a Spring day it could be 40 degrees in the morning, but 80 degrees in the afternoon. In the morning, Concierge mode will turn the Seat and Steering wheel heat on, but in the afternoon, it will turn the Seat Cooling on. It will even control the level of seat heat or cooling that is needed and will step down from the Maximum as the comfort level conditions are met. This is all Automatic and is based on whatever the Temp is that you have set on the display. I love this mode and I NEVER have to touch anything other than the button on the panel to raise or lower the Temperature. Hope this helps!

      @UtahJohnnyL  2 роки тому +8

      Thanks much, Larry! I appreciate the info and was aware of it, however for those that enjoy lower-back heat separate from climate temps, it's still the cumbersome step to get there. Congratulations on your Inspiration Edition! Cheers!

    Congrats on your ownership. Black would have been nice, but I think you got the better color as you get a better overall contrast. It is definitely under-rated. It may not be better in overall performance like some of the German choices, but to really see the real difference, you need to take to the track…and how many people do that in the real world. Plus overall the maintenance requirement is less with the Lexus.

      Thank you! It would be a very short video as luckily, I've experienced no issues at all with this car aside from normal wear & tear items (tires mainly). Several of my services at the dealer were also covered under an extended service plan on my car. If you've owned a Lexus before, you'll know just how wonderful their service/customer care is. Other brands need to learn from them. Insurance is on-par with competitors, and fuel consumption is better than anything else nearing 500hp. All in all, a very positive experience. :-)

      I had the 2018 LC 500 and loved. I hit a traffic barrel in a work zone and it cost $15,000 to get it fixed. The headlights are like $7,000 each and that Lexus symbol contains the radar which is also around $8,000 if needed to repair. Also, at 49k miles my parking gear went out. It was 4k to get it fixed. Good thing it was covered under warranty. I loved vehicle it was just expensive to fix if something happened to it.

    Hi, enjoyed your video presentation of the 2018 Lexus LC 500. So encouraging that you have no complaints and are still so enthusiastic after two years of ownership, I have had my 2018 for 5 days and am thrilled with the ride and the sound it makes as I make my way up and down the gears. So impressed. Beats the pants off enjoyment of my former Porsche 911 Turbo in every way. I spent two months test driving variously cars (Mercedes GT 63S, BMW M6 Competition, Porsche Panamera 4S) and was about to give up when I was fortunate enough to walk back into a Mercedes dealership to find the LC 500 featured on the showroom floor. After a 20 minute test drive I was convinced and the rest is history, signed up on the spot. The salesman put a sold sign on it right away as other customers were starting to circle the car. Anyway, to make a long story short I am in LOOOOOVE...Already thinking of ordering a new 2024.

I was probably asked 20 times if it was an LFA as well lol. It pains me to hear that they did away with the V8 version. They are really screwing up all the good cars. • @UtahJohnnyL
      @UtahJohnnyL  2 роки тому

      Tough decision indeed, much of which will just boil down to what your driving style/location/desires favor. Most journalists that have reviewed this car professionally have stated the convertible handles much differently than the coupe (and is 200 lbs heavier). The LC's are already a little portly in weight but they handle that weight very well (at least the coupe does). I think if the vert was a hardtop vert, that would be a game changer as well. Good luck on your decision either way! Cheers.

    Love this car! it's just perfect in every way
    I don't think any mods benefit this car though, it's a piece of art best kept in its original shape
    do you have any experiences with potholes? does it smooth out those as well?

    • @UtahJohnnyL
      @UtahJohnnyL  2 роки тому +8

      Appreciate the input. Yes indeed, Utah roads are riddled with potholes. Some LC500's came stock with 21" wheels, other the 20's. You'll always get more rubber (tire profile) with a 20" but the 21's are not bad at all. As I mentioned in the video, I am old enough to NOT sacrifice the comfort with these great cars and adding the springs and wheels (which again are the same diameter as OEM, just different offsets), was a great improvement in my mind. Many professional auto journalists have reviewed these cars with positive accolades given. Many felt the suspension to be slightly soft (as it should be since it's a GT car), but adding the slightly firmer springs turns this car into a GT car with a sporty feel in the canyons. Everyone is different and have different desires/goals. ;-) Cheers!

    It’s sad this car didn’t sell too well because it discouraged Lexus from making this car a bigger deal with a longer future. It’s an AMAZING CAR. We were robbed of the LC F because of those low sales
    That would have been epic. Once this car market cools down I m buying one of these used. It’s the perfect car to buy with a few miles on it because it’s a Japanese car at the end of the day

    • @cavaleermountaineer3839
      @cavaleermountaineer3839 2 роки тому +1

      It is a shame but the looks weren't a familiar enough beauty and the performance wasn't stunning, glorious engine notwithstanding. They should've put the LFA's powertrain in this, made it a bit longer, and it would've been known as the "baby LFA". Instead they tried to emulate the Maserati Granturismo but they made it too small. The Japanese struggle with these matters, like Honda and the NSX uncertainty and confusion. It actually is a cultural thing.

      It was meh in nearly all respects. It’s slow, the design is… interesting but not passion stirring. It’s style language is that it’s soft but not uber luxurious and it’s sporty but the performance is middle of the pack at best.
      To me, it’s a good sporty car for an old guy or lady.

      @@UrbanBDKNY I understand and in comparison to the luxury segment of GT cars, it falls short IMO.
      MB, Audi, and BMW (excluding all the top luxury brands) have GT cars that looks better and performs much better than the LC500.
      But it’s just my opinion. I’d take an MB SL500 or their GT C or even the BMW M4 or M6 coupes. Arguably, the oddball potential to keep value or become a sort of collector’s item would be the LC500 but I doubt it’ll become a classic anytime soon.

    Love the interior (the 2nd best I've seen in any car, with a Bentley having the best, in my opinion), love the side and front profile, love the engine and sound, not a huge fan of the rear view. Still I would buy one if I had the money! I would have a white exterior, like yours but with the ochre interior (I loathe black interiors). One of the biggest pluses is that it aint a car you see every day and are rare as hens teeth, that makes it special to me. (Oh, I have never seen one in real life, sadly). Nice to see a review of a long term ownership. Had to laugh when you called the paddle shifters 'flippers' - that's different!
