Had one, bought brand new, when they first came out, mid 80's same gun but with a 6'barrel. I remember there was a recall from S&W concerning the firing pin, I don't remember what the issue was with the firing pin. I sold it many years ago only because I didn't shoot it much. One of the biggest regrets in my life letting it go! They are beautiful, excellent, strong revolvers. Smith came out with this L frame to handle a steady diet of .357 ammunition, a bit larger and beefier than the K frame. You have a Beautiful revolver, don't be a schmuck like me and keep it! Official name of this 686 was the Distinguished Combat Magnum
@nebaldeby5369 I have you exact gun. I am going to do a comparison video of it. I have the 6 inch also. The M stamp on the crane tells if the firing pin recall was done. Thanks for watching. Be looking for the comparison
Very nice revolver, though personally my favorite S&W revolver in .357 magnum, is the one that started it all the Registered Magnum. Beautiful gun, in fact my gun guy who does my Handgun transfers actually has one in his collection. And it’s funny because he told me every time he brought it out to show people they kept assuming it was either a 27 or 28 but I knew what it was the moment I saw it’s humpback hammer
@ADRay1999 I want one of those. My gunsmith has o one and it is awesome. I borrowed it for a weekend a couple of years ago and took ot to the range so I could say I did it. I traded him my WW1 coke for the weekend. He wanted to shoot it. Thanks for watching. Not alot of people even k ow what a registered magnum is. They are big $$
I have a 4" 686+ that is the best-shooting DA revolver I own---better than a 27, better than a Python. I definitely share your appreciation for this one. I've got an itch now for an early 4" 586. As far as I am concerned, 4" 586/686 revolvers are perfectly balanced in every way.
This is an awesome revolver. I was fortunate to be put in a position to purchase a python and they had this in 6” for less than the colt. I still want to add the 686 to my collection. Great collection sir. Do you have some desert eagles?
Just enjoy your purchase. Life is too short My suggestion is Midway has wilson combat spring set for under 15$ Yeah nice upgrade my trigger so sweeeeet now ,also frond sight I got replaced with green fiber and I add KSD (Turkish made gribs) offer top quality I like your video, unlike stupid kids putting videos
I'm glad you found one for a great price. It could not have gone to a better caretaker. Congratulations!
