To sum up ALL conversions:
Octal to Binary and vice versa:
each THREE bits is equivalent to a digit (0->7)
Hexadecimal to Binary and vice versa:
each FOUR bits is equivalent to a digit (0->9 A->F)
Decimal to any numerical system:
we divide the integer part by the base
(answer from down to up)
we multiply the fractional part by the base
(answer from up to down)
Any numerical system to Decimal:
The sum of (each digit*(base)^r)
r is the index
integer part r :(0,1,2,3,....)
fractional part r:(-1,-2,-3,...)

Thanks a lot.
why cant we do c ka octal and then a aka octal and then d ka octal
u can convert hexadecimal to octal directly without going through binary i know it's hard and unusual but please don't say it's not impossible because it will make a lot people confuse and wondering why ?
it's so tricky especially with multiplication because we canot use the multiplication table that we are used to or just use a calculator that support octal or hexadecimal

sir instead of converting to binary we can convert to decomal too.
Yes, but that would be lengthy and requires a lot of calculations. While this is just substitution of codes.

Nice sir
Sir, why the direct conversion is not possible for hexadecimal to octal and octal to hexadecimal?
Because 16 is not a power for 8, also not in reverse.
though - they do have a *common root* which is 2, and thats why you can still manage to do a "partial direct" conversion(from each to 2, and vice versa)
thank you.. i have one more doubt.. decimal and binary conversion is possible though they are not powers of each other.. is it not possible to convert to hexa to octal without taking the common root 2
@@sushmanaik2228
Very nice question! :)
Going from any radix to decimal, you don't infact use direct conversion, but regular decimal conversion which is a *specific type of conversion* itself, ie adding the digits x base to the power of position, for example:
56 in r7 is 5 x 7^1 + 6 x7^0.
Because we dont *tend to use* (which is what makes your question a good one by the way! It might not be the case that there isn't a specific conversion method to these bases :) ) a specific conversion to 16 and 8, we cant do a "hexa conversion" or "octal conversion" to go from base r to 16 or 8.
and that's the difference, and why we like "comftorable" direct conversion which, in term, require powers who make our lifes easier when the requirement of the powers is met! (Instead of the most hated, going from r1 to decimal, and from decimal to r2, which feels very long and winding, going from r3 to r7 is a pain haha)
Hope that helped🙂
